ChipNES II: A World Asunder

Okay, I have just a moment here on a computer, so don't expect anything major.

Can I ask why I'm at war with Portugal? Your explanation in the update is totally unrealistic, Swiss, and we were working together.

To: Nations Concerned
From: France

France has declared war on the United Kingdom because the British have threatened French territorial integrity in India and elsewhere. We merely wish to show the British that their threats are hollow.

To: France
From: Lombardy

We request a 5 year NAP.

Greetings France!

We will agree only if you withdraw from southern Italy.

Another OOC: France didn't attack the Omanis or blockade the Strait of Hormuz (just that Persian city) Swiss, I'm rather annoyed and not remotely amused.

Request denied. We seek to unite the Italies, not create more chaos by keeping them divided. We will not withdraw. Sadly, we cannot sign the NAP then. We hope this does not damage our relations.

go easy on Swiss its his 2nd nes at the helm

I will take Portogul. Just one thing however.

Does Benin even have a navy? How could Portogul lose 3 squadrons to it?

The Oh Great Powerful Benin had 15 divisions and 5 squadrons of ships :p In the so called Late Enlightenment Age....

I understand guys. I think i'm being realistic, and i dislike the fact that in most NESes, the European powere bam, get what they want. Its very unlikely that in one year with little losses Portugal could completely defeat an entrench regional hegemon.

While your efforts to level the playing field could be considered noble, it's just not "real" There have always been more technologically advanced nations then others in history, and until the unification of earth, it will remain that way.

You should also keep in mind, that Europeans or descendents of Europeans got their way nearly 99 percent of the time in the last 2 centuries ;) Though your quoted statement shows your bias against European powers as you dislike how European nations got what they want in other neses. In history, there was no "level field" those that failed to become Westernized failed.

Yeah, I'm ashamed of myself too, but *shrug* I tried to argue otherwise and at least made an effort to get my point across prior to this. And in most respects, I think I'll probably stay away from this nes. And any others like this one. This entire thing seems ironic from my usually sino-centric views... Oh well

Although technically his second, he didn't even update the first. He posted what he had which wasn't much. So this is really his first NES.

France and Oman.

Alright, that is too far...I agree. The local African, and Asian nations are far too powerful, far too advanced and industrialzie far too quickly. Japan industiralizing in 1 year? Its pretty far out.

According to Cuivienen it was supposed to be working with France though.

After reading through the update a second time, I quit. This just isn't the sort of NES I want to be in, and the ridiculous mod-created "wars" with Oman and (especially) Portugal only make it worse.

Portugal was supposed to work with France, but of course since her ally Mysore just attacked and seized Goa, that's thrown out the window :p

Except that, according to the update, Mysore attacked Goa after France and Portugal mysteriously entered a state of war.

So in this NES and others like it, all non European nations should be NPCs to be fought over by five players?

No, but the fact that the nes started out on a mostly an even playing field is wrong.

Mysore attacked Goa after Portugal attacked Oman. France was not part of that equation.

Maybe I'm misreading the update, but it looks like Oman attacked Portugal.
