Are you seriously telling people not to complain in these forums?
I am seriously pointing out that if people want their complaints to have any constructive effect, they have to be sent to the people who can actually improve the game (i.e. Firaxis), not posted in a forum where the chances that Firaxis will read all those threads are slim.

If they spent 62 dollars cdn and the game doesn’t run they should keep quiet and send Firaxis an e-mail? They should only praise Firaxis for this game or say nothing?
No. Where did you see me saying that? I actually happen to like discussions about the games I play. What I don't like is seeing these forums degrading into a conflagration area because some people perceive a need to create a "public demonstration of discontent".
Honestly, what is so bad about sending the developer an email with your problems? I paid 35 Euro for Guild Wars and it kept crashing - I sent them two mails and together we fixed the problem. Would they have fixed it if I had gone to the forums instead, voicing my disappointment?
I paid 70 dollars to subscribe for Stardock's Totalgaming.net and kept getting errors when downloading files. I sent them a report, we nailed the problem, and although the problem was with my network connection, they issued shortly afterwards a new version of their software with a smarter error repair function. Would they have done that if I had instead gone to some forums telling people how much it sucks that I cannot download games I paid for?
In my experience, getting in contact with the developers, working together with them, is a very effective way to get problems solved. There *are* companies for which this does not hold true, yes, but Firaxis has shown on many occasions that they don't belong to those.

Not only does it stifle debate it hurts all Civ fans. People have the right to complain when a product does not work as advertised, and corporations must be held accountable. How can problems be fixed if we don’t complain about them?
How can problems be fixed if you complain about them in a place where the people who can fix them won't notice it?
Of course you can voice your complaints here. Many people may have personally felt better after venting their anger in a public place, but does this make up for the people who are being attacked or insulted in these threads? Does this make up for the people who try to find answers in these forums and cannot find them because of these "I have a right to express my anger" threads? And - contrary to what you claimed in your previous post - I just don't see how this "public demonstration of discontent" you mentioned is in any way necessary to improve the game. I asked you on which actual data you are basing this assumption. It seems this question has not been answered.
