Civ 7 is coming to PAX Aus

Hey all! Just wanted to chime in here and say yes - please let me know in the comments: what questions would you like our art & design devs to answer in an upcoming Q&A! We'll also be uploading the video to YouTube after the show, so you can watch any time. We hope you tune in to watch!

How has the art team responded to architectural changes within the same era while still giving civilizations distinctive looks ?
As an example - how to approach Australia in the final era. Would you double down on say grandiose sandstone buildings that feel really distinctive for the 1880's but kinda of out of place for the 1980's (A broadcast tower should not be made of sandstone for instance) ?

Q1 - Ambient Effects:
Will we see any ambient effects on the map like time of day changes, random clouds passing "overhead" and throwing shadows on the ground, occasional rain and mists, changing of seasons, etc.?
We've already seen a sandstorm and a tornado but both seem like events with gameplay effects rather than ambience enhancements.

Q2 - Civilisation and Leader Background Art:
Are the pieces we've seen finalised? Could you go into more detail on their production process and desired goals?
The art for Rome or Meiji Japan, for instance, both put strong composition over historical detail. A similar approach to Craig Mullins' work in a different historical strategy game series.

About to fly down to see it

Might see you there. We could reminisce about all those times you sanctioned me over the years?

Will the guys be sticking around after for some hand shaking?

A gift for the Antipodes Sarah? Confirm Australia? DLC even? Bob Hawke has passed since 6. A unanimous choice as a great (bonza even) leader choice. Opening quote (after we toweled up the yanks in Americas cup) “any boss who sacks anyone for not turning up today, is a bum”

Oh I forgot to add. Grain to alcohol gives an extra happiness boost Civ wide. Hawkey would have approved of that. You beauty!
For the love of all things Aussie, NO! That would be worse than Humankind and ARA's representations of Australia and leaders!

I forget if that was ever a feature in earlier games or if I just dreamt it

+1, and what was a bug on Civ VI and I would like as a feature in line whit what you proposed is an option to hide all interface (the HMI and the map labels/icons), in order to take these kind of “ambience” looks/screenshots

Hey, I wasn't abble to see the last stream live, but the question is kinda general too so the art devs can help:
How is the proccess to decide what symbol will be used for a civ emblem/icon? Is there any preference on what can be used? In specific how the symbols for the Han and Shawnee and etc where chosen for example?
Another little question, the new yield icons are more complex than those used in Civ 6 this time around, it also don't have the same strong color coding yet, so... Are these yield icons already final or is still an work in progress aspect?
EDIT:
I forgot another question! Do/will the Indepedent Powers have specific icons like the City-States from Civ 6 and 5 had?

Do we know if this one will be only on Twitch or Youtube too?
All the previous streams have been on YouTube so I would imagine this one will be, too.

Indeed. They've invariably advertised only the Twitch channel on social media leading up to their livestreams, but have always included YouTube streams in addition to Twitch during the actual events.

Q: Obviously not every civ that is researched necessarily makes it into the final product, but I am curious: have you had the opportunity to do Aboriginal research for VII yet, or is that further down the line?

They advertised the stream on their YouTube channel too, fwiw. As in, posted on their YouTube channel an ad for the stream.
