I'm not a fan of putting all my eggs in one basket with the Iroquois. Bushido is fun (sure, war is easy either way, but this makes it faster ;) ).

It seems that people always underestimate india - you can get crazy amounts of happiness with them, even with a really large empire. More happiness = more golden ages and more culture (if you get the policy), plus it saves you so much gold maintainence from stadiums and theatres. Not to mention all those really annoying plunges when you puppet a whole load of cities
 
No love for china? There my favourite civ, the cho cu nu is a great UU and the paper makers nothing to laugh at. Also the ua isnt only good for war use the great generals for golden ages or somthin

Yeah, I started off that chain reaction. Did not expect that. I was essentially saying that I was underwhelmed in one game I played with them. The Longhouse is still quite nice.
