Civ Fix 2-civ teams

Repeat offender, shall we call this strike 2 ?

I think we can, although if this silent absence continues, we need to think what to do. I have pm:d SITS about keeping us all waiting.

If there is no response in reasonable time, we need to start advertising for replacement.

Here is vital admin info for whomever U choose:
Civ Fix = 2 civ teams admin=5ttttt Tracker pw=kenwyn monarch Big&Small/snaky/temp/low sea.Islands mixed in

Sorry took a bit; holidays swept me away. :xmascheers:

Good. Have you everything you need ? Can you open the saves ?

Apparently not...

OK. So I suggest you collect all passwords, and forward them on to Ainwood, including your own.

And get an assurance from individuals that they will not change their passwords without prior notice....
(I don't want to waste any time playing a game that has a chance of folding.)

I will change my password on the next turn, and let you have that after the fact.

You don't.....

However,

When you join someone else's pbem game, the host will have set an admin password, and you are therefore relying on the host that they can replace any player that suddenly disappears by opening up his save with the admin password and then changing the player password ready for the new person that takes over the tribe.

We now know that Kenwyn forgot the admin password, and his statement on December 23rd was just a wild guess. Despite my question a day or so later, neither he nor Sinimusta actually checked at the time that this password was correct.

Sinimusta has posted in the replacement section, so I am assuming that SITS has provided him with SITS password, ready for the next player. However what we now know is that this game has an admin password without our knowing what it is, so we are at risk of dropouts and the game ending abruptly.

Having Sinimusta collect everyone's passwords and forward them on to Ainwood is some level of security against a future default. I see little difference between the previous idea that Sinimusta had an admin password, or a future idea that he knows every individual's passwords - either option gives him complete access to the game.

However, I have experienced enough seemingly reliable people disappearing that I don't want to risk another year or two playing a game only to see it stop dead. I personally need some guarantee that a game can continue, and normally I am implicitly trusting the host's reputation to provide that.

I don't want to coerce anyone into doing something they are uncomfortable with, and have enough other games going at the moment. If anyone decides they do not want to provide their passwords, then I am happy to advertise for a replacement and continue my turns until someone can take over my tribes.

I'm sorry for messing things up.

Anyway, I've now received pw from Ricketyclick and awaiting for the rest of the pws to be forwarded.

About replacing SITS: only Knoedel has shown any interest and I've sent him a save to have a look at and I'm still awaiting answer. If he declines how long are you willing to wait for a replacement? Option being turning the civ to AI.

You didn't mess things up... Kenwyn forgot.... :)

I am prepared to wait a time for a human.
However, I guess this is kind of on principle.

I don't know how many islands or continents are out there, and how the tribes are distributed, and whether it makes any effective difference.

I'll didn't know you were waiting. On the way!

I sent some pms to get a replacement, if no one is interested I think we should just convert Sits's civ to AI.

Answeris I did not like what I saw, but I will take on the challenge. There is a lot to take in, but I should get it sorted today! It will be quicker after that once I know what I'm doing.
