Maybe it's a little early, but have any cheats been identified for Civ3?

I like to play a clean game, but when the Greeks are pushing tanks past my cities that I've got staffed with drunken legionnaires, it's most satisfying to put the game out of its misery by crushing the bastids with armies conjured from thin air and placed at the gates of Athens. At least that was a satisfying way to end a hopeless game in Civ2...

If you´ve lost, why don´t you simply start a new game?

IMO winning a game by cheating isn´t any fun, it just makes me feel weak, unskilled and inferior. Needless to say, I don´t use cheat codes anymore.

awwww... the good ol' IDDQD in Doom was quite fun.

Wouldnt play it to finish the game, but once in a while you just wanted to completely wastor the enemy.

I think almost anyone would agree... the beauty of this game is that you wouldn't want to cheat... I mean sure there are times where yer like 'damn if I just had 20 more gold'. But if there wasn't failure in this game, you would never feel satisfied when you actually started gettin good.

Good for you, Mr Spice. I agree winning a game by cheating isn't fun, but I'm sad to hear that doing so makes you feel weak, unskilled, and inferior.

I personally don't consider whipping out a cheat in Civ2 to complete the game a 'win;' it's just a fun way to end a hopeless situation, more fun IMO than just hitting the 'quit' button.

I'm just a little more than a casual player (although I was much more than that for the original Civ) owing to the fact that I have other interests these days. IMHO, if a game is capable of making me feel weak, unskilled, and inferior, it's time to turn off the computer and go outside.

But back to my original Q: are there cheats for Civ3? The imbedded option in Civ2 made so much sense that it's hard to believe it didn't make it to Civ3.

If you want free money, go on to yahoo.com, and type "Cheat 'O matic", then download the cheat thing and follow the simple instructions.

Well, I was exaggerating quite a bit. But thank you for minding about my health. :)

While I agree with the sentament, before you jump down everyones throat remember to consider that many people looking for 'cheat codes' want them so they can test out mods without playing through an entire game. If you made a mod to SDI, it would sure be a pain to play an entire game to get to the point you could test if your mod is working or not.

Cheating isn't just for making the game easier. One thing that I liked to do in civ2 tot was make the aliens advanced and then open up teleporters to earth. Kind of an alien invasion thing. Or I would remove all SDI from the game and have a good old nuclear war. You could also change sides and play as one of the other civs, all added another dimension to the game.

I have no interest in cheating. OK, not true, I would like to be able to cheat for fun. I did like playing with the cheats in Civ2 just for kicks. I do not think their needs to be cheats..but it would be a nice minor distraction.

I don't want most of the cheats, but I would like a chance to look at the whole map, particularly for the strategic resources - it's just too time-consuming to play all the way to a point where you find out that you're doomed because you have no coal and there's only 4 coal squares on the map.
