Civ4 Patch v1.61, SDK, PitBoss, & Low-res Movies Released!

"Sir, the worker has brought in only 20 trees. Shall I whip a few peasants to complete the Great Library?"

"No, ask them to learn Mathematics so that we can count to 30 again!"

I won't believe it until [civ4] tells me so.. I've already got my hopes up once. Maybe they've finally got it right (without causing other problems)

the game doesn't slow down late-game (my problem).

I think it's safe to say that the game will always slow down some in the last stages of the game. The question is whether it remains playable for everybody with the required system specs.

Looking at the changes list, this seems like a good patch. Nerfing chopping will make the game harder on higher difficulty.

Can't wait to download and install it back at home tonight.

Tell me, which sickness should I suddendly contract, stopping me from comming to work tomorrow morning? Leprosy or the bends?

A well needed nerf to The Kremlin finally. It was just too easy to buy all the late game wonders including the all-important Space Elevator.

Of course -- logically, things should slow down because there's a lot more going on. I just hope that it doesn't slow down as much. I hate trading for World Maps :)

Military advisor now works like foreign advisor: clicking on leader buttons clears previous leader selections unless you hold down the shift key.

This I'm happy for. Still need to evaluate what effect the other changes make.

EDIT:
* Expansive: +3 Health
* Financial: No longer give production bonus for Banks

Expansive just got better, Financial just got worse.

I have a terrible memory I am downloading this patch right now and I want to know if it will work with my current games/ Help with my current games? or if it will only do stuff on newly created games. I have had the same Huge/Epic/Hotseat game since I bought this game the day it came out and I am only at the year 2318 and I play alot but the slowdown kills me. Like 10 turns a day only cause of the lag. I hope this will help me. Also I just started another Huge/Epic/Hotseat game using the GoldCiv mod will that still work?

It's not much about amount, but how big is the waste before Mathematics (and proper mesurements) and after when building things from chopped wood.

I have an ongoing PBEM game.

If all players update to the new patch, should everything work OK? (The game will take months to finish and no-one will really be willing to wait forever to install a major patch like this!)

Merged KHSOLO's patch thread into the main thread. For the SDK I think we need a separate thread.

Anyway, really glad the patch and SDK are finally out! :)

I didn't see anything in the changelog about fixing the Replay/Hall of Fame bug, where it incorrectly interpreted the game speed--and thus the years when things happened--for games played pre-1.52.

This was in my top-5 annoyances, and I look forward to getting home from work and seeing if it was addressed. (If not, I think it'll be time for me to start the first official "Where oh where is the next patch?" thread... :-) )

It's not like anyone would have new 1.00 and 1.09 saves to make it in any way serious issue.

Can't u read I do have games still in progress from version 1.00 and 1.09 and could someone tell me if this patch will help those games or only newly created games after the patch is downloaded?

Is it that the game speed is wrong, or just that the mapping from turn number to year had changed? I think it changed again in the 1.61 patch, so you may have more of the same "problem". But it seems like a non-issue to me: games from previous versions aren't directly comparable with the current version anyway, because of the many changes that affect difficulty.
