Civ5 Complete + Free DLC (scenario) on the way (Feb 4th)!

Following months of speculation as to the meaning of the mysterious 'Bison' depot in the Steam Database, and unofficial confirmation from retail pages advertising Civ5 Complete including the Conquest of the New World Deluxe scenario as DLC, Kate from 2K has revealed the following:

Right now I can confirm that Civilization V Complete is coming soon and will be available on 02/04/2014 in North America and 02/07/2014 for rest of world.

Hello there everyone. I have some additional information for you about The Conquest of the New World Deluxe Scenario which as you have deduced was codenamed "Bison"


• The Conquest of the New World Deluxe Scenario will be included in Civilization V: Complete
• The Conquest of the New World Deluxe Scenario will be available for FREE via Steam to everyone who already owns a copy of Brave New World
• The Conquest of the New World Deluxe Scenario will be attached for FREE to anyone who purchases Brave New World going forward as a bonus

So three and a third years after the release of the vanilla game, Sid Meier's Civilization V Complete will be released on February 4th in North America, and February 7th in the rest of world. It will include the Conquest of the New World Deluxe Scenario, which will also be freely available with Brave New World, both for existing players and future purchasers.

That would be cool. Looking back, it was 4 years between Civ3 and Civ4, and 5 years between Civ4 and Civ5. So that would place Civ6 in the fall 2014 - fall 2015 timeframe. Even if it's near the beginning of that, it probably would be a couple months until an announcement.

One question I have is, does this complete edition include all the DLC that's been released? I know there were several standalone scenario/civ/map DLCs that were separate from any expansions, and it'd be nice if they were all bundled in the complete edition. That'd make it a real complete edition, and we wouldn't have a repeat of the Civ4 situation where there was Civ4: Complete Edition, which didn't include Colonization, and then later also Civ4: The Complete Edition, which did.

Quintillus, it does seem to include absolutely everything based on the description of the contents on some websites (search it on Amazon, I believe there's a full list of the contents there).

Looks like you're right! I found it on amazon.co.uk:

Sid Meier's Civilization V: The Complete Edition includes the original 2010 Game of the Year award-winning strategy game, plus the two critically-acclaimed expansion packs and all of the released add-on content in one complete package.

The U.S. version of Amazon does have a Civ V Complete page, but it has numerous errors such as saying it includes Warlords and Beyond the Sword. So, it looks like one should go to the UK page for definitive information. It still isn't quite perfect, as I don't think the Windows 98 support is accurate, but the description does appear to be about the right product.

I probably will pick it up sometime, since Brave New World does sound to be a significant improvement, like Beyond the Sword for Civ4 and Conquests for Civ3. Hopefully when I do, it'll go over like Civ4 did - not as fun as the previous version with just vanilla, but actually pretty fun with all expansions.

It is nice to see you here, too! I'm still mostly in the Civ3 section of the forum, although lately my playing time has been more or less even between Civ3 and Civ4. Couldn't ignore an announcement of a complete edition, though!

Fall 2015 seems likely to me as the release date.
I wouldn't expect the announcement prior to summer or fall though. Doubt they'd announce Civ6 more then a year before release.

This is awesome. I was very disappointed when I heard it was pulled from the original release. Kudos to the developers for making it free with the big DLC.

I'm pretty sure 2/4 means Feb 4th for 2 reasons: 1) 2K and Firaxis are both located in the US and Kate is from the US. 2) If 2/4 meant April 2nd, that would also mean the rest of the world wouldn't get it until July 2nd, which wouldn't make any sense (not that the 3 day difference makes any sense, but 3 months would make even less). Does only the US do dates Month/Day/Year?

I don't understand why you are looking forward to Civ6 when you haven't played Civ5 yet?!

I've played Civ5 and have the Vanilla edition with no DLC, but find Civ3 and Civ4 more enjoyable, with 1 UPT being the largest, though not only, reason. So I'm looking forward to Civ6 with the hopes that it changes some of the mechanics I didn't like so much about Civ5. On the other hand, I have heard good things about BNW, so I'll probably pick up the complete version of Civ5 at some point in the future.

According to Steam I have 39 hours of Civ5 played, but a lot of that was leaving it idle overnight a few times, so it's more like 20 hours overall, including demos. Whereas with Civ3, I was well past that within a week of starting to play it - it just drew me in much more. I'm hopeful, if not particularly optimistic, that Civ6 will be the next game in the series that really has that one-more-turn mechanic throughout the whole game, without any other factors spoiling it, that made me a CivFanatic in the first place.

The expansion packs make a massive difference, Quintillus. I'd highly recommend getting that complete version, sure you'd be impressed.
