In the background of an image of Civ5 producer Dennis Shirk you can see the current Civ5 interface for the 1st time:

yes, but also, just which female leader is that there? :)

can we read her name...?

EDIT: or is that a leader of a city-state...? hm...

Extracting from the screenshot:

1. Looks promising!
2. Buttons on the lefthand side might be a little inconvenient, though.
3.The terrains looks very good, better than in previous screenshots, with high mountainms casting their shadows
4. The woman could be an advisor, or maybe Isabella!

Very nice find!

I now understand what the guy from IGN was meaning with the 'painted' look. The interface in the current state really looks like it. Especially the painted woman in the popup. This makes me wonder whether some of the Images we have seen at IGN aren't concept arts, but could make it in the game.

Also the look and feel kind of reminds me of Elemental: War of Magic, if anyone has been following that game. With both of them being 4X games and set to release this Fall. Interesting.

That's an awesome looking mountain range! Bottom left looks like a unit box. The pic has a hat and what looks like a tool in its hand. A worker?

I'm guessing that's an advisor, given that leaders are meant to be in full screen.

It could be tutorial or event. Notice some of the last words are yellow (Pedia links?).

My guess is event with the two choice buttons below.

Given this little info from the latest IGN preview:

the top line of the screen reveals the presence of the hardcore elements, tracking things like science and gold production, happiness, culture, resources, and even the time remaining on any Golden Ages

This is a resonably accurate guess:

I wonder how health and happiness could be in the top bar as in the other Civs every city had it's own happiness and health level...

This could be and advisor... or maybe a worker? Look behind him.. there's what seems to be a donkey or an horse... if that's the place where units are displayed when you select them then it could only be a worker or more probably a settler.

Wow, that really does look fantastic. Very clean and bright, and the mountain range looks beautiful.

I agree with the others in the thread that the bottom left is probably the unit icon - although it strikes me as needlessly large. The popup looks like an advisor too - "we should build more clickable description sire"

Could be a leader. Possible the game doesn't go to the full diplo screen for some things like war declarations, or when a leader wan's to contact you you can decline.
The clothes look like Isabella. Which would mean Persia is almost certainly not in :(.

It's also possible that the game allows you to disable full screen 3d diplomacy (which would be a pretty nice feature since it will probably be slow loading on some systems).

Want more!

YOU SILLY PEOPLE. If you'd read the article, and clicked on the image, you'd know the damn thing can be expanded *facepalm*

Hahaha. CMJMStephens just owned us all.

So, settler unit, foreign advisor screen, summary stats on the top left...

Damn we're good.

I spy a non functional minimap!

And we just had so much fun speculating. Hard facts only get in the way of that!

So Settlers are in, which is good.
Our Foreign Advisor is named Jasmine.
Why is there a global Health display as well as a global Happiness Display?
(At least that's what the green face and the yellow face next to it look like)

All in all I like the interface, very clean and unobtrusive.

Brilliant find!! The first look at the interface. Looks nice. Very simple like they told us though no F1-10 equivalents in the top of the screen anymore. Health clearly isnt in the list wonder if its even in the game!? The 0/500 yellow thing might very well be related to golden ages! Seems very logical to me. Might work somewhat the same to GGs. EG build a monument / theatre and earn points. Really nice pic!
Finally with leaders speaking their own languages and distinct different looks between civs and regions i wonder if the advisors will also vary per civ. That could mean the lady on the picture is ottoman or maybe persian (that would be a shock)
