Civ7 Developer Update (May 27), patch 1.2.1

For an in-between patch, this looks huge. As does what‘s coming down the line in June.

Looking forward to trying Pangaea plus! And to replay Friedrich, who seems bonkers now? I mean, in Antiquity, this will be 10-18 free units… Maybe that‘s good to try in combination, actually.
I commented earlier about how OP Charlemagne seemed with his 2 free cavalry units per Celebration.

So instead of nerfing Charley (who, admittedly, doesn't have much of anything else besides his cavalry horde going for him) they buffed the other 'free units' Leader, Friederich!

Assuming my experience from Civ VI holds still, Pangaea maps always seemed to be made for Conquering Hordes - after all, everybody is right there on the same continent, within 'easy' reach. I suspect that Charlemagne and the Freds will gain some popularity among those gamers who want to go a-conquering on Pangaea . . .

Indeed. But unfortunately for Fritz, he doesn't have that nice synergy with the Mongols that Charly has.

Also: is the stuff on Carl's desk a battle royale reference of some sorts?

Help me unpack, Conquest Influence Penalty.

Is this in regard to relationship status or something else?

Interesting how you've implemented distant lands in the pangea map. Was wondering if you were going to make one side "homelands" while the other side "distant lands" but making them all islands instead makes things simpler.
Hope to see the return of the terra map type next now that all civs can be spawned in homelands.

Instead of a terra map type, I think it'd be better if we could adjust which proportion of civs spawn in distant lands, which'd also allow a terra map situation to be set up on any map type.

I'm giving Fred my first-ever try on the new Pangaea map, as a matter of fact. So far, I've got lots of action in every direction except north. I like that little whistle-along his avatar does while you're choosing options. First time I've seen that, too.

Lots of interesting changes in between major patches, really looking forward to June. I haven't touched Frederick, might finally play him now in Pangea.

It's reduced influence generation
Has this always been a thing? I was wondering why my influence per turn seemed to drop, it was the first I noticed, it had gone from 90something to 70 something mid age.
Can these penalties be repaired in anyway other than completing more influence sources?

I think it fades with time, but I am not 100% sure...

Pachacuti was already decently strong with the food balance changes, but to get a bit of production from food on top?

some hostile actions will result in influence penalties.
