from the screenshots it looks like it's just a really big mod of civ5?

All Paradox Interactive's games are just bigger or smaller mods of their previous games. There are fanmade mods for EU3 that bring more new content to the game that the whole EU4 provides. Is EUIV just a really big mod of CK2? They are both built on the Clausewitz engine....
I suspect the differences between CiV and CivBE will go well beyond what can be done with modding tools.

“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
I think the problem was using the word "childish" in the first place, like trying to belittle the more colourful art style.I don't know that I think the art is bad. It looks okay to me, it creates a good feel of an alien environment. 'Childish' is an unnecessary exaggeration. I did like the grungy, washed out look in the original Alpha Centauri game, though.
If, by trolling, you mean people expressing their disappointment over recent Firaxis products, then I disagree.Theres quite some trolling going on in this thread allready.
