Civilization Request Thread

I think I actually made a pseudo-serious Antarctica design a while back focussing on science, can't remember who I chose to lead it tho.

EDIT: Found it, kept rolling antarctica too so here -

Antarctica
Leader: Robert Scott? Roald Amundsen? God knows here.

UA: The Land of Ever-Winter
Cities may not :c5food: grow normally, but generate points towards :science: 'Great Discoveries', which attract new :c5citizen: citizens and grant a huge amount of :c5science: science, by working snow tiles, natural wonders and constructing :c5science: science buildings. +2 :c5citizen: citizens and +2 :c5science: science in all cities upon expending a :c5greatperson: Great Scientist.

UU: Research Station(Replaces Observatory)
The research station, unlike the observatory it replaces, does not require the city to be adjacent to a mountain tile - but does require a nearby snow tile instead. Although they only boost :c5science: science output by 25%, the first 3 research stations reveal unique natural wonders* upon being constructed and provide additional :science: Great Discovery points per turn.

UI: Prefab (Unlocked at Astronomy)
The Prefab may only be built on snow tiles, yields +2 :c5science: science and +2 :c5production: production, doubled if adjacent to a natural wonder. Upon acquiring a :science: Great Discovery, all Prefabs in the empire grant a burst of :c5goldenage: golden age points and :c5greatperson: great scientist points.

*These Natural wonders are:

Aurora Australis: +8 :c5science: science, +4 :c5culture: culture, +25% generation of :c5greatperson: Great Scientists in this city when worked

Martian Meteor: +10 :c5science: science, +2 :c5culture: culture, +25% :c5greatperson: generation of Great Scientists in this city

Emperor Colony:
+6 :c5science: science, +6 :c5culture: culture, +4 :c5happy: happiness.

They come in no particular order

:c5science: Sierra Leonne :c5science:
:c5capital: Freetown
Mammy Yoko

UA: Ifa Wo
Possess a spy from the beginning of the game. Spies in your own cities increase :c5science: science output by 15% and provide +2 :c5happy: global happiness. Every time a spy levels up, gain a large amount of :c5culture: culture. Every available :trade: trade route that is not external provides :c5faith: faith.

UU: Poro
Replaces Inquisitor. Available from the start of the game, and costs less :c5faith: faith to create. Stationing a Poro in a city will half foreign religious pressure and provide :c5culture: culture and :c5science: science for every spy in your own cities. If every city has a Poro stationed, gain a spy.

UB: Kpa
Replaces library. Available earlier, at Pottery. Normal effect, and no :c5gold: output. Costs less :c5production: production and provides +1 :c5food: food based on the city's :c5faith: faith output.

Rolled Sierra Leonne. I knew very little about this country or its society but then I learned about it for the design and holy crap the Hale stuff is super interesting. I wanted to make it based on gathering science from espionage, because the society values learning and secrecy so much. Either way, I was only 1 minute over this time.

Somebody said serious Antarctica design?
Antarctica (Nobody)
UA: The Cold Spares Nobody -
Snow tiles that are being worked yield +1 Food and +1 Production. When one of your Military units has been stationed on snow tiles for more than 8 turns they die, however during the 6 turns they have -1 Movement :c5moves: and +40% Strength :c5strength:.

UU: Snow Walker -
Replaces Spearman. Has +20% Strength :c5strength: in snow tiles and has +1 Movement :c5moves: when on those tiles.

UI: Igloo -
Can only be built on snow tiles and is unlocked at Biology. Provides +2 Science :c5science: and +2 Production :c5production:.

Both of this Antartica design look Preety cool and interesting, shame I can't join in. Instead I spun the globe again and got Belarus, so here is my Belarus design lead by none other (because there is no other) than Alexander Lukashenko!

Belarus under Alexander Lukashenko!

UA: Man of the People
The :c5culture: Culture cost of acquiring new social policies is halved, research agreements :c5gold: cost less for Belarus and :c5gold: Gold buildings takes half the amount of time to build.

UB: Polling Station (Courthouse Replacement)
Same bonuses as the Courthouse plus it can be built in any city cost three :c5gold: maintenance instead of four and provides +2 :c5happy: Happiness. It also decreases the :c5culture: Culture cost of acquiring tiles in the city it is built in.

UB: State Owned Companies (Stock Exchange Replacement)
+4 :c5gold: Gold, +50% :c5gold: Gold production and the two specialist slot is replaced with one (called the Company Manager). It gives all resources with a cities limits +1 :c5gold: Gold and :c5production: Production, double on strategic resources and +3 :c5greatpeople: Great Merchant points.

lol that belarus is legit the most overpowered design ever posted here. If you built 2 courthouses you'd be getting your social policies for free

Sweet! But what should I replace it with? The idea behind the social policies is the social reforms Alexander put in and the fact he keeps extending his terms.

:c5war: The Sultanate of Sulu :c5war:
:c5capital: Jolo
Mashā'ikha

UA: The Datuship
+1 :c5faith: faith and +1 :c5culture: culture from sea resources. Upon generating a prophet or a missionary or :c5faith: purchasing a building, gain points towards a :c5greatperson: great admiral or general.

UU: Moro Pirate
Replaces Galleass. :c5war: Experience gained from pillaging enemy :trade: trade routes. Gain :c5culture: culture for earning experience. 25% :c5rangedstrength: attack against units built in cities on another continent than your capital.

UU: Lantaka gunner
Replaces Musketman. Becomes a ranged unit that upgrades from crossbow as well as longswordsman. :c5rangedstrength: Ranged strength of 24, range of 2, upgrades to Gatling Gun. +25% :c5rangedstrength: attack against naval units.

Finished with 2 minutes to spare. Rolled the middle of the Sulu Sea, I love my Philippines so I was quite joyous. This is my third Philippines design. Never any issue making on of these

Ok, I'm torn between designing a new civ and refining one I've already posted here. So, should I do:
Lemuria under Hydros with the ability Water of Life or the Dire Straits under Mark Knopfler with the ability Water of Love?

both, designs are not a finite resource

both, designs are not a finite resource

Time is. But actually, despite it being a joke I now want to make a Knopfler civ. Ok, here goes.

The Dire Straits: Mark Knopfler
UA: Water of Love: Settling a city next to water provides points towards Great Musicians, and Great Musicians decrease worker production time.
UU: Lady Writer: Unlike the Great Writer it replaces, the Lady Writer grants +10% culture per turn when alive, and +20% after discovering radio.
UU: Private Investigator: Unlocked at Civil Service, the Private Investigator can use gold to discover technologies discovered by city-states, however, takes attrition damage from it and has to wait for three turns before being able to again.

Can anyone come up with a Civ for the mechanic of "Experience Land Units start with upon being produced counts towards Great Generals"?

Bit convoluted wording there, essentially it means that whenever you produce a land unit the experience it starts with counts towards Great General.

Yeah sure:
Someplace under Someone:
UA: Try the Mechanics thread: Experience land units start with increases Great General points.

This is just a rough outline, and I need to come up with the other uniques, but I think it can go places. Like the mechanics challenge thread.

My snarking for the day done, if we can go for things like this, can I just ask that everyone also does a civ for The Hundred Years War and War of the Roses period in Great Britain and France?

You know, I was never gonna make this civ for fear of angering JFD, but with a crazy UA like this I think I might have to.

The Manchu under Nurhaci
UA: Eight Banners
Units are randomly assigned one of eight Banners after their first combat. Units receive additional Combat Strength and Movement when adjacent to a unit of the same Banner.

Now I just need two more uniques :p

Sparta and Prussia immediately come to mind but I'm sure there's some other good options too that haven't been done already.

EDIT: Actually, how about the Teutonic Order? You could have a unique Hochmeister GG that uses that old Teutonic Knight icon that Jan made a while ago. Maybe an XP bonus from faith for something like that.

Green Standard Army? Btw I quite like that UA and would really like to see this come out now.

Nah, Tigermen is where the money's at. Nothing like having a bunch of dudes dressed in Tiger Pajamas walking about in the battlefield.

Ayyyy?

That said, I did manage to rework my Rome remake, which actually makes me rather happy.

The Republic of Rome

Leader: Gaius Marius

UA: Third Founder of Rome
Upon adopting a Social Policy, all Land Units gain Experience and a new appropriate Unit is created near the :c5capital: Capital. +2 :c5culture: Culture from Barracks, Armories and Military Academies.

UU: Legion
Swordsman replacement. Much stronger than the Swordsman it replaces, the Legion may build Roads and Forts, and gains a :c5strength: Combat Bonus if it is adjacent to a friendly unit while in range of a Great General.

UB: Thermae
Garden replacement. Available earlier, at Engineering. +1% :c5food: Food kept for every +2 :c5culture: Culture in the city.

The Republic of Rome

Leader: Julius Caesar

UA: Veni, Vidi, Vici
Winning battles and conquering :c5capital: Capitals starts a We Love The King Day in all your Cities. During We Love The King Day, units start with additional experience, and experience gained from training units counts towards Great Generals.

UU: Ballista
Catapult replacement. Slightly stronger. Does not need to setup to fire.

UB: Castrum
Walls replacement. Automatically built in Conquered Cities. Grants +2 :c5happy: Happiness and increased :c5strength: City Strength during We Love The King Day.

The Empire of Rome

Leader: Augustus Caesar

UA: The Glory of Rome
Settling or conquering Cities grants :c5production: Production in the :c5capital: Capital. +20% :c5production: Production towards buildings already built in the :c5capital: Capital.

UU: Praetor
Great General replacement. May settle Cities, spawning an era-appropriate unit that gains increased :c5strength: Combat Strength when defending.

UB: Arena
Colosseum replacement. Grants +1 :c5happy: Happiness in the :c5capital: Capital.

Ayy?

The Manchu
Leader: Nurhaci
Capital: Mukden?
Start Bias: Plains
Cul Div: Steppe
Civ IV Traits: Aggressive/Imperialistic
Religion: Tengriism or Samanism?
Icon: #131A44?
BG: #E3D642?

UA: Eight Banners
Units are randomly assigned one of eight Banners upon their construction. Units receive additional Combat Strength and Movement when adjacent to a unit of the same Banner.

UU: Green Standard
Unlike the Musketman, which it replaces, the Green Standard is cheaper to construct in cities with a Courthouse. In addition, it has a chance of converting enemy units it defeats, which gain the same Banner as them.

UU: Niru
More expensive and physically weaker than the Crossbowman, which it replaces, the Niru ignores enemy zones of control. Additionally, it may attack twice per turn if stationed next to at least two units of the same banner.
