Colonize!

No, I mean I designed it with all the techs on the left side...since Conquest is an initially available tech. Europeans didn't fool about waiting to see if the Natives were friendly or not, they came out with guns...er...crossbows a-blazin'.
Unrelated, but...
If you want to move techs, you should download the Civ3MultiTool, or some other tech tree editing tool. I actually got halfway through a mod manually changing and tweaking the placement of techs with CivEdit (which uses coordinates instead of a graphic interface) before I realized there was a tool for that...and all the techs in the middle east scenario were set up like that. Blech. That was a pain. An unnecessary one.

I play dutch and my citizens keep dying in disease. I have downloaded the patch but it only fixed the bug with the arquebusiers.

Someone mentioned the disease, and I've just experienced it in a test game; the new patch should fix it. The new patch being up, already.

I've reconsidered the Conquest tech and left it as is. I'm seeing light cavalry by 1540, but at least the AI seems to be expanding via colonists by 1580.

The newest patch didn't affect my map at all as I've only made subtle changes to the rules, nothing else. It's about as done as I feel like making it. The Caribbean is a mess, west of the Rockies is a black hole, and the Plains are iffy. But, other than that it's fine. :D The Natives are aggressively expanding and offering a bit more resistance.

I'll most likely tweak a couple more things and then it's ready for upload if anyone wants it or if anyone can tell me what to do.....

just had to say, "love the tech tree graphics!"

The tech tree graphics may be the best part of the mod that can be attributed to me :p
And of course anyone doing a mod which those arrows or maps would 'fit' in atmospherically is welcome to use the idea, since it wasn't terribly clever in the first place, and may have already been done elsewhere.

I get the attached and below error starting the scenario:

Missing Entry in "Scenarios\...\conquests\Napoleonic Europe\text\PediaIcons.txt"

Check Scenarios/Colonize/Text and make sure it has all text files in it, almost check scenario properties in Civedit to make sure that the Colonize folder is listed first; I checked this on my own, and I'm absolutely sure its set up right, so something must not have unzipped...which wouldn't be unheard of...people have had .zip problems with my stuff before. It may be as simple as re-unzipping a patch...

How frustrating I have continued to try DL'ing this mod ... basically from when I last posted until now ... All I get is

This file appears to be a web page (possibly an error message)

Is this a symptom of the 3dd site  ... I tried to e-mail their administrators but the mail bounced back

Is there any other site where i can DL this great mod ... I enjoyed the beta very much ...

Regards :goodjob:

Rightclicking won't work, it goes to a web page rather than the file itself. (and once you're at the site, it opens a popup for the waiting line, so, again, don't rightclick)

Thank you for all your help with the DL'ing process ... have installed and patched ...

I have started playing and love the new European LHs ... esp Spanish and French you have captured their ethnicity very well ...

Just discovered Native Contact thro' Goodie Hut and therefore established embassies and consulates ... :D

Not sure if you are aware on the Foreign Advisor screen the Natives and Europeans have the same respective head icons ... see screenie ... when you click on the trade screen ... Dutch Head is OK but the Huron and Cherokee are both the mohawked head ...

Also love the new tech tree look ... :)

I'll keep playin

Regards :goodjob:

Maya seem to be ok in the above screenie
Shawnee is mohawked
France has same error as the above Euros

Disease and Happy have Invalid entry in Civilopedia

European Crop icon in tech splash is out of focus ... actually hurts the eyes ... the apple's a bit too Newtonian
Treasure of Cibola has wrong Civilopedia icon
Happy has the Invalid entry in Civilopedia

Bringing Cibola back to capital via Halberdier (who picked it up) ... nothing AFAIK ... what is supposed to happen

Iroquois has mohawk head (as he should)

Alright, I'll sort through labels and script and make sure there aren't any more GCON links in there. As for the LHs for everything except the animated ones: they are currently tremendously screwed up in that many are completely wrong, and most use Firaxis LH best-fits, most of which are repeated. It will take some degree of effort on my part to actually go through and fix them, even with as much as it takes away from the game currently. This is mainly because going through 31 .pcx links several dozen times and typing things out in full doesn't appeal to me; I think there might be some sort of editor in the utilities section, so I will check that out.
I'm not sure why the Treasure unit didn't work for you; it should give you a boost of 200 gold and several VPs (if you have that enabled), but the gold should happen regardless. Check your treasury to see if it did so. Aside from that, all it would do would give a non-popup message that said 'we have returned yada yada to City X' or something along those lines. I think.
And: All credit for LH quality goes to R8XFT. As for placing which leaderhead with which leader, that silliness can be attributed to me.

I've downloaded the following:

Here is the current main Beta download: (66.3 MB)
http://www.3ddownloads.com/civfanat...onizeBeta01.zip

and

ColonizeBPatch12.zip (320.2 KB, 177 views)

When I unzip the only files in either are:

ColonizeAmericasM.biq
ColonizeAmericasT.biq
ColonizeRules.biq

I extract these to C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios

But then I get the below error starting the scenario:

Missing Entry in "Scenarios\...\conquests\Napoleonic Europe\text\PediaIcons.txt"

ICON_BLDG_AfricanCottonPlantation

You suggested "Check Scenarios/Colonize/Text and make sure it has all text files in it, almost check scenario properties in Civedit to make sure that the Colonize folder is listed first; I checked this on my own, and I'm absolutely sure its set up right, so something must not have unzipped...which wouldn't be unheard of...people have had .zip problems with my stuff before. It may be as simple as re-unzipping a patch"

But there is no Colonize folder, nor any text files.

I've downloaded and unzipped several times.

Please help.

It is zipped with all the folders in their ready positions; the files you mentioned are the only ones that don't go in any one folder. Consider getting a different zip program such as winzip or winimp; I use winimp to zip everything I have, so thats a sure bet for unzipping the file correctly. Check on tucows, or just google for it. Otherwise, just see if there isn't another option on your zip program to make sure it decompresses the whole file in its entirety instead of just the stuff thats not in a folder.

Hi GRM7584

I am enjoying the world of colonization which you have modded :goodjob: ... I like the way that expansion has been slowed due to colonists requiring a tech and city building to be produced ... also like that disease culls the pop regularly ... ;)

To assist in the development of this mod ... I would like to suggest that you edit the 2nd Post Screen to include a section which lists all known errors (which the lastest patch does not fix) ... :p

The will assist all of us who are playing the mod and 'find' an error ... eg. The CTD when clicking on Port and Native Trading Post

I would also include under the errors a list of things yet to do ... this could generate assistance for the mod ... ;)

Thanks and keep up the good work :goodjob:

There should actually be a readme that came with either the original beta or the patch which lists all that...I may just copy and paste the text of that into my second post.

Hi GRM7584

I'm enjoying the current game ... New English - Freemason - 1723

> I will anally check for Civilopedia CTD glitches when game is completed ...

I like the slow expansion caused by -
> Certain terrain that is only traversible/workable by indigineous tribes
> The constant population culling disease outbreaks
> Tech and City Improvement required for colonists to be formed

I find that I'm sitting back and waiting for the constant squabbles between my neighbours to result in a razed city ... then i jump in a plant a city with my waiting colonist ...

Anyway real reason for posting ... What is the invisible unit that attacked a stack of workers and turned them French ... is it a UU for the French or available to all

Also found that the Haida civilization were met in 1700's (last for me to meet) and I found that they were stuck on an island with 1 city and had had no contact with any other civ ... there was a multi-pirate stack based b/w them and the mainland ...

Cheers :goodjob:

I may have flagged Jesuit Missionaries as invisible and HN, so thats a good possibility. All three catholic civs get those. The Haida non-expansion wasn't intended; I'll remove the coastal barb camps, maybe that will help.
