True.I want to have an understanding of this so bear with me...
So iGlobalTurns of 100 now means every turn 1 unit will spawn somewhere in the world, regardless of number of spawn points?

True.
Yes, that is how it works on average.Ok so it's something like 100/value = % chance of a unit spawning in the world. 100/100 = 100% If the value is 150, then 100/150 = 67% chance... and going lower a value of 50 means 100/50 = 200% chance, so 2 units spawn per turn somewhere in the world?
Quite possible. So I'm thinking that maybe since I had iMaxAreaTotalDensity at 10-12 or so, it was stopping Neanderthal spawns due to the presence of all the animals. Maybe that is why I wasn't seeing the Neanderthals show up because there were already enough animals to stop their spawn? Does that sound plausible?
Hi Thunderbrd,
Here is a copy of a save a turn or two prior to the following msg:
"Beyond the Sword has encountered an error and needs to close"
Addnl info:
AppName:Civ4beyondsword.exe
Appver:3.1.9.0
ModName:cvgamecoredll.dll
ModVer:3.1.9.0
Offset:0026b570
Thx for your help.
This problem is not C2C's fault (I'm pretty sure), but maybe someone here can tell me a way to fix it:
When I run C2C it takes a loooooooong time (sometimes 10-15 minutes) before the XML loading screen pops up and things get rolling. Same thing happened with ROM. When I load a new mod, it pops up immediately, but the older the mod, the longer it takes to start loading.
Anyone ever see this and figure out how to fix it?
Easy enough in theory. All we need do is move all the XML into the core files. However with a large number of modders working on C2C letting them work in their own isolated area works for getting things out and fixed.
Usually things move from experimental, to new to users, to bedded in. This takes a few versions. If there is then no more problems one of us will move the XML into the core files. This is not always a straight forward task.
Which reminds me - StrategyOnly is it time for me to start moving the stuff in Custom_Units into the core files with art in the main area?
@All, Also - My/AAranda's custom wonders - does anyone select a subset or turn the whole lot off. If not then perhaps it is time to move them into the core files also.
I'm not sure you understand the behavior.
When I install a new version of C2C (say v18) and I run it, the XML loading screen pops up immediately and begins to load. But the more I play, the longer the delay between loading the mod and the XML loading screen popping up. I am now at about 10 minutes (no exaggertion).
If it is a matter of what files are in the core, then why would it start loading instantly the first try and take longer later?

I understand what you are saying, the "first" time you load C2C, sometimes will takes around 3-5 minutes to load. After that it should usually take "under" 1 minute to load.
If it takes longer than that, you should do the following:
1. Stop anything your doing on your PC.
2. Shut Off your PC for 1 minute,
3. Re-start your PC.
4. Re-load C2C (will take around 3-5 minutes again to load (first time again is why).
5. Stop right there, go to exit C2C.
6. Re-start again C2C, and if it takes longer than 2 minutes after that if you "dont" shut-off your PC, then something is wrong with your PC, NOT C2C.
7. Usually means you have a memory problem of RAM or not uptodate drivers for your graphics card.
8. If all the above doesn't work, your just "Sh_t out of luck." sorry.(No really you need a NEW PC with a 64 bit Windows 7 dual core PC then), just my personal opinion).
Machine= 8 Gig Intel Core2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5 GHz running Win7 64-bit with NVidia GFX 275 video card.
4) As I said, this is not C2C's fault. Just hoping someone had figured out what the deal was.
Question: Does the Folder name for C2C matter? If it does not, then I can just rename the folder each time and the machine will think I am playing a new mod....
P.S. It is not the loading time of the mod that is the problem. For some reason their is a long delay before the mod actually starts to try to load.
@Eldrin
This problem happens in RoM/AND too. Civ4 doesn't seem to unload all resources correctly on "back to main menu" and when starting a new game it would often crash with your error or MAF a few turns into a new game.
It's always best to exit the game completely before starting a new one.
I recall that, however, I'm fairly certain it didn't happen to me with either v16 or 17. I had started a lot of games then, didn't like the map, and just went to the MM to restart it.
But I wouldn't put it past my memory to misremember![]()
The first message means that you got the -1 population separate chance of 50% triggered but then you also triggered the 90% +2I chose option 3(2, 90% chance of +2
). Failed and succeeded at the same time, and it just made people mad.
