Fellow Q

I was interested in understanding your preferred communication medium?
I.e. Is the forum good enough to cover our comms needs?

For the most part I think it can cover 'most' of our needs however there may be times when we need a more direct and instant method of comms even if it's just to draw our attention to a pressing issue on the forums.

Requirement: A ubiquitous and simple one to many real time notification push media

To my mind international SMS fits that requirement but is probably NOT everyones preference depending on real life factors. What are some practical alternatives? Do we need real time comms at all? Is it an issue only relevant to the leadership team?

Tons of people use msn/windows live messenger for chat, seems popular on CFC (although not so much among people I know irl for IMing services). Anyway I could work with any IM method/service if we need it.

However for our team I think we can make the team forum work and do pretty well - indeed, I'll try to keep all my thoughts/info/anything else here and in timely manners. Certainly more than enough for our internal affairs/civ management - it's diplomacy we're focusing on here though I know. We probably should set up one collective email account, for sending "official" messages and stuff to other teams - and then if other teams want contact over chat or something we/chosen diplomats can decide that. Does come in handy (also of course there is "in-game" but that's only those who are logged into Pitboss at the time).

Great! I'm also flexible when it comes to preferred protocol.

Team Forum I feel works best.
You don't see the need to communicate in real time at all? I'm only suggesting a complimentary media to plug gaps that the forum lacks. I know myself that there are times when I choose to prioritise other things instead of checking forums, however if I know that there is a pressing issue requiring attention I would endeavor to attend to it.

Teams whom are able to meet, discus and react efficiently stand the best chance of winning.

PS> I have attempted to contact the other members of the team: Provolution, Bowsling, Arakhor & Skystream

Hi :) I rarely use instant messengers, but I frequently check my Gmail, which has its own Gchat client.

Gmail uses the jabber protocol and you can just use any IM client that supports it. If you wanted to that is

Plus you have Buzz in gmail these days which might be more relevant. In fact that's probably the way to go, especially if we use gmail as the official Team Quatronia comms. FYI - Quatronia {at] gmail is currently available.

Yeah, let's set up Quatronia (@) gmail.com then as a team email address.

Again, for anyone concerned - I really think the forum here is fine for our *internal discussion. We really just need something for diplo and messages with other teams. Though if anyone really likes chat/a particular chat service I'd be happy to get on that when I'm around.

I agree- gmail chat is the way to go to discuss.
However, I think 'diplomatic emails' are the way that we should set our binding agreements. (NAPs, MDPs, trades, border agreements, whatever).
This way, we have a clear idea of what we are doing.

Well, there won't be many emails, but provided the diplomat keeps us appraised of the situation, it should be fine. I'm arakhor (at) gmail.com by the way.

For those of you with a gmail account you can follow quatronia thru buzz. Also feel free to add me to you friends list for chat if you so desire.

We could chat through drafts, if necessary. However, I believe only one computer can be in a given email account at the same time.
I know that I can have multiple sessions open on the same computer but am unaware if it checks on two sessions from different IP addresses.

Wanted to welcome CharlemagneXLII for those who didn't see in the main forum, the newest member of the Q here. It's a busy time and we're glad to have you onboard.

Welcome to the team, CharlemagneXLII!

As long as a chatlog is posted on the forum if diplomacy is conducted via IM, then I see no harm in using it.
