Community Balance Patch Mods Compatibility

While using the latest version, Barbarian Spawn Increase, Barbarians Initial Swarm and Barbarians Evolved the game just crashed on turn 40 :(
Are the compatible? Thanks

Edit: Crashed the second time, same turn, in the barbarian turn, in the previous turn it said a barbarian camp evolved into a city :(

I think you are in a wrong thread. This one is for a modpack by Enginseer which balances / makes compatible selected mods with CBP. I think you meant to post here:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=542679

As far as I know, Barbarians Evolved is not compatible and is listed as such in the above thread. I do not know the rest of the mods you mention.

It is kind of a silly name to be honest, I can see why the confusion would occur :D

From what I've gathered from unreliable sources on youtube the Barbarians Evolved guy is working on updating the mod and making it compatible with CPP, mostly because Marbozir created a huge demand for the mod by using it in a LP.
On another note, Marbozir still refuses to do a CPP LP.

A guy named Arumba and a guy named Quill are both doing (or have now finished) CPP LPs. So we have that! :)

Watching them both (and getting frustrated by their mistakes/assumptions, I guess that's what happens when you actually have more knowledge about something than someone else *smug-superiority*). But Marbozir is more dedicated to civ and have a lot more civbased followers, I've been trying to get him to try it for almost a year now, with no great success.
Actually first time I asked he said he'd take a look at it but he never responded again after that :D *stalker*

So, ask again? CPP was not in a good place this time last year.

Hey, who do you think I am? I'm a stalker, naturally I have asked again, multiple times :D.
Besides, the first time he actually responded was during one of the imo most stable periods in CPP history, things are a little messy now, I mean the current 'stable' version still have those CTD and huge turn-timer bugs, right?

Well.. Since you called me out, I'll reply. ;)

I never "refused" to do anything, so I'm not sure where you got that idea from. It's simply not the only thing I want to do in Civ 5. Also, what's more important, CPP is almost like a new game, which means that it'll take a while before I'm familiar with everything that it adds or changes.

I don't plan uploading a game where I just fumble my way through something I don't know well enough, because I know that's definitely not what people want to see, at least in case of Civ 5 (in fact... you just said yourself in your other comment that you felt frustrated watching some others play it, because they didn't know it well enough - so you sort of answered your own question why I've not done it yet). I'll play it on the channel once I manage to invest enough time into it to feel comfortable enough playing on Deity.

Just baiting for a reply :D I still love you, man.

I am still watching them, frustrated or not :D, it is sorta that feeling you get when you see someone miss an ancient ruin, miss improving a resource or forget to lock a good food-tile.
While I can certainly see your point about it being a new game it is not amazingly different from normal civ and unlike civ5 deity it is a lot more forgiving, you're not going to lose the game just because you didn't catch up quickly enough. You're more likely to just get killed by a big timing-attack :D. Also I don't think your viewers would hate or abandon you just because you lowered the difficulty by one step or lose a game. I mean you've lost games before ^^.
In fact I think some variety would help people stay focused and make a playthrough more memorable, I mean that's why you're doing these current mod-games, right? :D

Also I would love hearing your thoughts on some of the changes, especially the ones I was involved in. And you have a huge following, which basically revived Communitas for a few months with your LP even though that mod was basically abandonware at that point :D. This is a my shameless way of saying we want your promotion :D.

If you don't want to commit to a full LP without knowing the game, you could just start a run on twitch, without being committed to continuing it. Announce it ahead of time and you could probably get some forum-guy in the chat answering any questions or clearing up any confusions you might run into.
If you do, please don't run an island-map :D

You sly dog. ;)

You're probably right, and it's still on my "list of things I want to do", so it's going to happen (hopefully in not too distant future!).

You mentioned CTD's earlier, what's up with that?

It was a bug that crashed the game randomly after AI-suggested deals for some reason, Gazebo managed to fix it, but I don't think the fix made it to the existing full installer(it might have, but there was no announcement in that case) before the current tourism overhaul test-versions(which aren't exactly stable/balanced/finetuned, and I would not recommend doing a full LP on them for that reason. They might still make a decent stream however).
There should be a a manual installation possible however, but truth be told I'm not exactly sure where(I think it might require different folders from different places) :D. Gazebo could probably figure it out if you're interested(or I could do it if he is too busy I guess).

  • Ggantija now has a fix on flavor. Vanilla Neolithic Wonder referenced FLAVOR_FAITH instead of FLAVOR_RELIGION.
  • Fixed MoreDiplomacyText by adding a large number to every XML column so that it can never conflict with anything else since Gazebo did a hidden change to a diplomacy text which caused the MoreDiplomacyXML text to fail.
  • Any unit on a pontoon bridge receives a temporary promotion lost upon movement: Providing +10% cover against ranged attacks, no penalty when attacking from the pontoon bridge(was -50% because the unit attacking from a coast tile was hardcoded to be "embarked" technically), but -25% penalty when attacking city.
  • Reduced the maintenance of the following upgrades: Market, Bank, and Stock Exchange.
After some experimentation, pontoon bridge should be useful to the AIs now.

Community Balance Patch Mod Compatibility is blocking Unique Policy Buildings in the mod manager. Maybe I'am doing something wrong.

EDIT: Ya i figured it out. i made an edit to this post last night and didn't save it.

Classic Buildings is causing a crash when first starting a game. I noticed its not in the supported mod list at the first page. It is in the Steam supported list thou. Herbalist has been incorporated into CBP. How about the other 2 buildings? Thanks for your service by the way!

I've recently updated it (3 hours from this post) to remove the Classic building and block it out.

CBPMC (v 10)
  • Non-save game compatible.
  • Amphitheater Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 1.
  • Opera House Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 2.
  • Museum Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 4.
  • Hospital Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 3.
  • Library Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 1.
  • University Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 3.
  • Public School Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 6.
  • Laboratory Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 9.
  • Workshop Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 2.
  • Lighthouse Upgrade's gold maintenance reduced to 1.
  • Lighthouse Upgrade now produces -1 gold for every 2 citizens.
  • Workshop Upgrade now produces +1 production for every 4 citizens and -1 gold for every 5 citizens.
  • Caravansary and Harbor Upgrade now provides more tourism based on completed trade routes instead of any trade gold bonuses.

Patch of Gold Leniency, After many testing, it seems the poorest AI will even continue to bankrupt themselves with the largest gold maintenance without taking any consideration of their economy at all. Now with so many gold maintenance reduced in various buildings. There should be no reason for you to be ignoring the buildings now. There shouldn't be any AI advantage currently anymore.

And after many weeks, I've updated the post to have proper and updated information.

Polder, Moai, Chateau etc. mods don't work. I still get only yield bonuses.

I'm not sure what's happening then, guess I'll have to ask what Gazebo did with his stuff? Or cache not refreshed?

Yeah, it's probably you. Refresh your cache, just recently tested.
