Community Patch - How To Install

I'll be sure to do that next time I get a chance, but do you know if there is anything I can do when the save is just not recognizing that I have the right mods installed? Or is there a way to get a map from a saved game without opening the save itself? I don't know why, but I really loved how I started out.

Hmm, that's strange. Are you sure that you have (re-)installed the same version of VP? If you have the same exact mods, it should load. A very (very!) wild guess - if you are subscribed to the After the Revolution mod on Steam Workshop, maybe it updated itself in the meantime. Depending on the changes, mods are often not save-compatible between versions.

And no, sadly, I am not aware of a way of extracting the map from a save. But do not despair, if you use the same map script, there is a good chance that it will generate an interesting start again ;-)

Really having trouble getting this to work, I downloaded the installed extracted mods to C:\Users\rocky\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS

I enable the mods in the game, I load a game and check the tech tree to see if the Corporations tech is there and it never is, also there is no option to enable tech trading that is suppose to be added with the civ4 diplomacy options.

Not sure what I am doing wrong.

1) When you say extracted, do you mean that you ran the autoinstaller or did you do it the manual way? If the latter, please run the autoinstaller, it will do everything for you.
2) Are you sure you are going through the mods screen and then clicking NEXT? Many people activate the mods and then go back to the main menu and start the umodded game instead
3) Do you have more users on your Win? If so, make sure that the VP mod components (1) - (6) landed in the mods folder under the correct user (if not, just move them to the right one and it will work) - "Rocky" is you, right?

Excuse my noobiness but I have really only modded with Civ 4, I figured out the issues I just wasn't pressing next after enabling the mods. That screen is somewhat misleading. Regardless I got everything working perfect now.

I really have no idea why people can press Back on that screen without noticing something is wrong. The game spends another minute unloading the mods when you press Back, and you should realize there's something wrong when it has to load twice...

Haha, don't worry, you are not the first one and neither a last one - you can flip through the posts in this very thread :-) I am glad it is working for you now

Hi Guys
I hope someone is still responding here. Just got a new pc and installed vox populi. I'm getting the following error messages:
Unable to load texture [DC45_DiplomacyOverview.dds]
And about 6-7 other unable to load texture error messages.
The result in I get into the game but I can't get units to actually perform any orders.
Additionally, I've noticed that when I install the full bundle from the automatic installer, everything goes into the MOD folder, but when trying to load the mods in the game itself, the (5) More Luxuries mod is not available to select. Not sure if related.
I'm sorry I don't have the time to go through all these pages to see if this has already been answered.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks
Van

Verify your files.

Open Steam, right click on Civ V, pick the last option (I beleive), in one of the tabs there is an option to verify your CIv V files.

@vancityryan , do you have all DLCs? Are you subscribed to any VP components (such as More Luxuries) on Steam? This would explain why More Luxuries do not show up in the mod activation screen because the original Steam version and the VP one share the same mod ID. Unsubscribe from More Luxuries (and any other VP components or mods using WHoward's DLL), delete these mods from your MODs folder and re-run the autoinstaller.

Hello. I only want to use 2 parts

First - Community Patch (1) to improve AI

Second -
  • Civ 4 Diplomacy Features, by Putmalk

But I cannot find the standalone version (1a) in the downloads folder to use alongside CP as Gazebo wrote.

Please help. I don't want to use other parts.

I am encountering the same issue that vancityryan described: During game startup multiple textures fail to load, making the game unplayable.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Some additional info:

  1. This is a clean install of Civ V on a new PC running Windows 10.
  2. Scenario 1: Playing vanilla Civ V, the game starts and plays fine (no error messages stating that textures failed to load). Afterwards, verifying the file integrity via Steam detects no issues with the files.
  3. Scenario 2: Start a new Civ V game, go to mods, & activate all (and only) the Vox Populi mods (the mods that contain a number prefix). When the game is starting up, standard Windows popup windows appear, one after another, indicating that different textures have failed to load. When you click through all the little pop up windows and finally get to the initial game screen / map, there are many blank areas on the menu bar across the top. Those are apparently the textures that failed to load. Clicking on those regions, there is no response from the game. So for example you cannot mouse-click on the screen to get the options/exit menu. You must press the escape key to get that. When you exit this attempt to run the Vox Populi modded game, go to the desktop and then run Steam's file integrity check, Steam states "3 files failed to validate and will be reacquired."
  4. When Steam completes the file integrity check after the issues with Scenario #2, then rerunning the Steam file integrity check confirms that the files validate. Steam now reports "All files successfully validated."
  5. Attempting again to play Civ V using Vox Populi (scenario 2) results in an endless loop, where each time the Vox Populi mod is activated, textures fail to load during game startup and then a Steam file integrity check reports that "3 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." Steam successfully reacquires the files and Vox Populi promptly breaks them again the next time its mods are activated.

Thanks.

Yes. All the Civ V DLCs are installed.
- Including the extra civs and ancient wonders? (= not jus GK and BNW)

- Are you using some extra low graphics settings? I vaguely remember having a similar problem to yours on my old computer when I tried the minimum graphic settings

- Have you tried DirectX 9? Same results?

- Are you trying the EUI version? If yes, try installing the non-EUI version o VP first.

If by clearing the game's cache folder you mean this: https://heroesandgenerals.com/support/steam/how-to-refresh-your-steam-files-clear-download-cache/
I tried that. It didn't fix the issue.

Additional information after troubleshooting the Vox Populi installation further:
  1. Using Vox Populi version 2-17-3
  2. Starting Civ V using the DirectX 10/11 option in Launcher Beta
  3. The issue occurs when Vox Populi is installed using the "Vox Populi (Including EUI)" option. When Vox Populi is installed using the "Vox Populi (No EUI)" option the issue does not occur.
  4. The issue also occurs when Vox Populi is installed using the "43-Civ Vox Populi (EUI)" option.
  5. All discussion of the issue here is referring to the "Vox Populi (Including EUI)" installation option.
  6. When enabling the mods within Civ V, the issue does not occur when the "(6a) Community Balance Overhaul - Compatibility Files (EUI)" option is *not* selected.
  7. The issue only occurs in the scenario where the Vox Populi mods are enabled and a modded Civ V game is the first game started after starting up Civ V. In the different scenario where 1. Civ V is started then 2. A vanilla Civ V game is started, then 3. the vanilla Civ V game is exited (back to the Civ V menu) and then 4. The Vox Populi mods are enabled and a Vox Populi game of Civ V is started - in this scenario Civ V crashes during the game loading screen. No error popup messages are displayed prior to the game crashing.
  8. Screenshots are attached showing the error popup window and the broken in-game menus.

The list of textures that fail to load is:
  1. DC45_DiplomacyOverview.dds
  2. DC45_AdvisorCounsel.dds
  3. DC45_Greatworks.dds
  4. DC45_Culture.dds
  5. DC45_EspionageOverview.dds
  6. TopPanelGoldenAge.dds
  7. MenuButton.dds
  8. HelpButton.dds

The following Civ V DLC is installed:
  1. Scrambled Continents Map Pack
  2. Scrambled Nations Map Pack
  3. Scenario Pack: Conquest of the New World
  4. Brave New World
  5. Gods and Kings
  6. Civ and Scenario Pack: Korea
  7. Scenario Pack: Wonders of the Ancient World
  8. Civ and Scenario Pack: Denmark (The Vikings)
  9. Civ and Scenario Pack: Polynesia
  10. Explorer's Map Pack
  11. Civ and Scenario Double Pack: Spain and Inca
  12. Cradle of Civilization Pack: Americas
  13. Cradle of Civilization Pack: Asia
  14. Cradle of Civilization Pack: Mediterranean
  15. Babylon (Nebuchadnezzar II)
  16. Civ and Scenario Pack: Mongols (Ghengis Khan)
  17. Cradle of Civilization Map Pack: Mesopotamia
  18. Digital Deluxe Content

Cheers.

Your EUI is landing in a wrong destination. If your Steam/Civ5 folder is not in the standard C:/Program Files/ etc. folder, the autoinstaller may not detect it properly = it will newly create the default folder structure on C:/

Locate the EUI in the wrong (= default) destination (C:/Program Files/steamapps/ etc. - on a mobile, cannot check the exact path now). Its folder is called ui_bc1 and is inside DLCs.

Then move it to the DLCs folder in your correct (= non-default) Civ5 installation.

Hello. Im playing this mod now and with a tsl earth map. What i notice was that not every civ settled in first turn. They went on to find a better place to settle. But then i dont get the true starting location from every civ. Can i fix that in some files so they settle where they are suposed to?

That fixed it! The Steam library was not on the C drive.

Yes. In "(1) Community Patch/CommunityOptions.sql", you can change COMMUNITY_CORE_BALANCE_SETTLER_MOVE_START from 1 to 0.
(If it doesn't work try deleting the cache folder, and if it still doesn't work, make a bug report here: https://github.com/LoneGazebo/Community-Patch-DLL/issues)
