In the early middle ages Europe, there are many small kingdoms sharing the territories of the Western Roman Empire, who had already become a part of history. In the other side of the globe, the Islamic Caliphates and the Middle Kingdom rose to power, literature, poems, mathematics and technology were advancing rapidly. In this new thread, we will compare the empires and choose the strongest one.

The First Candidate: Vote for me please!

The Last Candidate: Are you one of my protectorates?

Do you mean Srivijaya? Champa?
Your answers are quite weird, some like a city or province in Persia or France, some like a place in Romania. Could you explain/translate them to English please?

Byzantine, but I won't vote for it until you ditch Leo (who was nearly overthrown by his mother-in-law) and replace him with a better candidate. (My prefrences would be Alexius Comnenus, Basil II, Heraclius, or the Amorian dynasty Emperor whose name I am forgetting.)

So, what exactly are we voting on, here? "Which Empire you like the best?" Yeesh.

Theophilos?

I would have thought: Śrīvijaya/Swīvijaya/Srīwijaya/Srī Vijaya kind of gave it away.

Eh, that's because I threw the Persian name for it in the mix as well. I could have thrown the Arabic one in there as well: Zabang.

Śrī vijaya (Sanskrit): Shining Victory.

Is this thread supposed to be a joke? That's a serious question. I have no idea how to react to this "empire pageant."

Theophano, empress-consort to Kaiser Otto II, m i rite?

I love this word just on general principle now. I choose to replace "She Bangs" with "Zabang" whenever I hear that awful Ricky Martin song from now on.

I refuse to vote in this until after the swimsuit contest.

Was actually thinking of a different Theophano - one that was actually selected as an Empress via a Byzantine marriage pageant - but I confused her with another marriage pageant winner, Maria of Amnia.

The Incan Empire was established in the 15th century, that was already in Age of Discovery or Renaissance period, am I right?

It's a bit weird to talk about the Renaissance when talking about a country that didn't participate. But then again, it's also a bit weird to apply the eurocentric term "Middle Ages" to the Tang or the Abbasids.

I missed the part where it says Early Middle Ages. So I'll nominate the Emirate of Cordoba and the Khazar Empire instead.
