Complete list of Steam Achievements

I never had any problems with finding those islands and when You play on Deity, You don't need to research to Captain Cook yourself, because AI does that very well.
But .. do You use default Civ5 settings for playing? Did You get a message window saying You found island this and that?

No that's one of the issues I wonder about, I don't get any messages about discoveries. I don't play on Deity yet though. When you say default settings, could you elaborate? I just choose the scenario and start playing (although I usually choose civ)..

There is Your problem. You have to get the message. I think some settings is turned off. When open options and reset everything to default. Maybe then?

I'll try that and get back to you with results. Cheers!

EDIT: Nope, that didn't help either. I put the default on all options, chose singleplayer-->scenario-->paradise lost-->South Pacific, and went straight for Australia. No pop-up, and no achievement, even though I revealed the whole land mass supposed to be Australia (the one in the bottom left edge, about 10-15 tiles with a Barbarian?). I just don't get what's the problem here..

Just a shot in the dark here, but this might be one of those achievements that requires the reward popups be turned on in the preferences.

I just checked, and it was turned on, that is, "No reward pop-ups" was turned off, so rewards would pop up. Maybe I have to post it in the technical issues-thread, although I can't see how I can use any printscreens of this.. Can anyone just verify this track of activities:

1. Bought the Polynesia pack from Steam
2. opened Civ DivX 10/11 through Steam
3. Chose Options and default (just to eliminate this aspect)
4. Chose Single Player
5. Chose Scenarios
6. Chose Paradise Lost
7. chose Settler diff, South Pacific map and e.g. Tonga (to quickly check whether it works)
8. Started by building city, and sending the first warrior down towards that Australia-landmass-slice in bottom left corner
9. Discover that landmass (but no pop-up, and no Steam-achievement)..

Are you using any mods? Even using the clock mod will stop achievements from working.

Don't think so. Although I did download a mod recently, just to get that achievement. Could uninstall it and check. But many of the other achievements work though...

Dowloaded wont hurt as long as it's not installed. I downloaded the clock to get that achievement, i still find it useful having a clock on the screen to remind me when it's gone midnight again. If others work though doesn't sound like it's that. Reward popups sounds like the most likely culprit.

Probably reward popups then.. However, why they don't work on discoveries specifically, but work on e.g. ruins, research etc. I cannot understand. Need to send out some form of tech issue I think.

I finally got the General last night. Now all I need is the top 3 difficulties for the Mongol Scenario (and of course the 2 broken ones)

Any tips on Mongol Scenario - Deity difficulty?

I haven't tried it myself, but there's a topic about it: How I beat the Mongol Scenario on Deity

Thanks Mousey, I'll have a read and give it a go

Edit: Thanks. I managed to get the achievements, but didn't actually win by taking out the 8 major Civs, just by having a higher score than those left. Ended up around 300pts better than 2nd (Darius) having taken Jin, China, the 2 southern CS, the CS NW of them, Western Xia, the first one to the W of Karakurum and Korea. (2 Civs, 6 CS). Darius also took out at least 1 CS too.

High guys, I'm having trouble with War Canoe Attack.

I just conquered a city on a three tile island, didn't unlock. does it have to be an entire continent? are there any other things I should know? Thanks.

It has to be on a different continent, so a large landmass. Try playing on Small Continents

You might have to take it from water, but I know for sure I got it by taking england on an earth map

You definitely don't have to attack from the water. When I got it, I deembarked all my units before attacking. I agree with Pouakai: try taking a city on another civ's "home" land mass just in case there is some sort of minimum size for land to be considered a continent.

I was wondering what those were on my list, and I was about to post a question in here about them, but you've answered it already. :)

I was down to 9 achiements left to go, now my list is longer again.

@ Robert Smith: I noticed that you also have Tomb Raider left to go. I've included Egypt in several of my games, and went after them both early and late and have never gotten this achiement. This one has so frustrated me that I even started a game on a duel pangea map with just Egypt and myself (so I could keep an eye on them), and waited until the late game to destroy them, and still didn't get it. So, I'm wondering, is this achievement screwed up, or does the Egyptian AI just not build burial tombs?

Which, I guess, leads me to ask if anyone has gotten the achievement for Tomb Raider yet?

I second that. Even took the win routes down to domination and cultural to give them a shot at building tombs. Nothing there when I annihilated their seven cities (two of them were size 10+). Is Tomb Raider an urban myth or has it actually been done ?
