Completely Dumb Ideas

I know DOC doesn't support multiplayer, that's why this is in the dumb ideas thread.

A more workable idea I had for playing this mod multiplayer is a DOC version of H-O-R-S-E.
Basically, instead of shooting a hoop and everyone trying to replicate the shot, you win the game with a certain civ and victory type and everyone else tries to replicate that victory. If you fail, you get a letter, get five letters and you're out, the last person standing wins.

It's still not true multiplayer but it is something close to it.

Probably a lot of commitment to get people to stick to more than five games :crazyeye: Usually keeping people playing one game is quite an effort...

I do kinda like the idea of multiple people playing the same civ/victory condition. For other strategy games, I've seen where someone would pick the game du jour with a little randomizer
Maybe something like this to randomly select a Civ/Victory would be cool:

We can arrange so-called sausage game (don't know equivalent in English and too lazy to google) aka passing the save between people who take part after certain number of turns.

This isn't even a dumb idea. Let's wait until a stable version is released and organise a short experimental DoC sausage.

Better idea: Player A plays their civilization a certain number of turns. Then they hand it over to Player B who plays a different civilization for the same number of turns.

Dumber idea? For sure. Better idea? Also for sure. Don't think that the number of turns should be constant, 50 turns in the Ancient era isn't same as 50 turns in Industrial era.

Even dumber idea: you have a speed chess like realtime clock to limit your playing time.

Oh no, it's 1867 and Canada is spawning! There goes my whole 15 minutes of play time!

(Come to think of it, why does Canada's spawn lag up the game so long? The only other spawn that does this is Argentina and Mexico's twin spawn in 1810...)

Propositions:
- The American Third UHV poses a combination of three options, signing defensive pacts with the major powers of the game, conquer half the world to get the pop/culture requirements, or, just collapse all other civs.
- Conquering half the world or collapsing all other civs would be immoral, as they would involve the death of countless civilians in illegitimate wars of conquest, and the subjugation of sovereign free peoples - and potentially even the use of WMD like nukes.
- In real life, America has not attempted to conquer half the world or nuke or civs into collapsing.

Conclusion:
- Therefore, America in real life has displayed superb and outstanding moral virtue for not taking the desirable actions to achieve their UHV. Capiche?

Ok, I have to say I'm suitably impressed by ChatGPT 4's ability to handle these. Now, all we have to do is teach it how to code Python for Civ 4, and I think we can finally outsource the modmod to AI.

Please don't make me look at this AI garbage. I am so tired of its subservient faux politeness.

If the AI is using this forum's discussions to train its UHV related responses the least it could do is buy Leoreth a coffee first
