I don't think I'll join - you rarely have much freedom to do things in a modern NES (unless its post apocalyptic ala GoobNES of course), with the US a pretty much unquestionable hegemon for the next 20 years on so (China needs to finish modernising without destroying its environment, and if the EU grows closer - then there will be times for power plays*). It'll just be quashing terrorists and mucking about in your own country.

*If Stormbringer plays Russia things might get fun again though .

Tsh, I would've liked the US. You can very easily make things more interesting by having the US respond with "overwhelming reciprocity."

The terrorists launch a chemical attack, you nuke a few major training camps... and up the chain. Europe condemns you, but they do that for virtually everything you do anyway, so you just strengthen ties to China and India.

Oh well. And Concona, whatever you do, don't let anybody develop fusion power, or nanotech, or freaking antimatter weapons, or anything 10 to 1000 years ahead of possible technology in 1999. Please. That made GoobNES so terribly goofy to lurk.

The economic system needs to be based on something other than GDP, the country's budget, the GDI, something...but using the GDP is absolutely ridiculous because the government does not have control over all of that money (in fact, it is not all money to begin with)

GDP doesn't lead to a good economy (good GDP that is) and it has to be adjusted for inflation and what not... just estimate i say

whats more is that some of that GDP isn't really there (figures can be misleading) and per capita? eh? eh? what about that? eh? eh?

I suggest you go with 1/10 of the GDI and then put it on an x squared or x cubed curve to account for the price differences in different countries. I played around with that and it seems to be the best compromise between GDP and GDI

EDIT: General question; whats the status of the EU? I have a feeling it will with other leaders of nations fall into a simple alliance with Economic benefits rather than deepen to a state of any kind, correct? (well if any other players come that is).
