Hiya, here we have our first new Cookbook.
What are those games? Basically a chance to compare your game with those of other players in intervals,
while also discussing their saves and maybe being inspired.

In previous cookbooks there was a voting system where the top ~3 games advanced after each turnset, and players picked one of those saves and continued until the next stopping point.
But i would like to try something a bit different this time :)

After each turnset you will pick one game that you like best to continue with.
Players can not continue with their own save right away.
Why am i trying this new rule..i want to encourage teamplay.

Consider your game as one that others might like and use, or maybe they just find it interestingly played and eventually you can join back in after a pause of 1 set.
Be curious about what others do with your save, and pick another one next for various reasons like i.e. cos you really like what they did, or maybe you want to try salvaging their game if they feel things didn't go so well?

We start playing Sillyman (Suleiman Imp + PHI, Agri + Wheel) on an Immortal Pangaea with standard settings (no huts or events, medium size and normal speed).
AIs have been picked for variety, and i edited the map slightly (just too difficult finding fitting starts).
AI land was not touched, no intended superpowers etc.

Starting screenie
Spoiler :
sillyman-jpg.575643
You can (and are encouraged) to discuss this start while you haven't played any turns yet (gotm rules).
Once you started playing: no spoilers please.
When done you can post your save in this thread, and hop over to another one i will open for discussions.
Let's keep this thread free of game details etc.
(turn 0 / starting screenie chatter = okay and wanted)

Phase / Turnset 1
Play until turn 60, finish it (making all moves) & upload your save here.
Please rename to something like "your name Game A T60"
Estimated Time: until (including) Tuesday 24th. If needed i can extend.

Rules / Guidelines
- Please use only your first try without previous map knowledge.
- Worldbuilder is only opened by me if needed, never by you the players ;)
- 1 Reload for annoying mistakes like clicking something wrong = allowed. Only possible on the same turn (no going back in turns).
- If more than 1 mistake happens - bad luck, accept them after the first :)
- We rely on friendly competition spirit, i will not try checking if everybody complied.
- You can load up other peoples saves after you finished your own.
- Try limiting posts please aka only serious stuff (those games also rely on keeping an overview).
- Game details & discussion about saves in a separate thread.
- Have fun

Thank you for playing hostess :) I hope this will be great fun, and also a great learning experience for all of us.

Pre-game discussion... I'm tempted by the riverside plains hill. Does mean moving away from two food sources, although neither is very good. We would gain another sheep (another poor food source, on a hill like that), but PH city + corn will hopefully suffice. Maybe there are some nice surprises in the fog as well? The question then is what to do with the warrior. Move onto that PH for a look, or go west for example since we want to settle on it anyway (so kinda wasted). A possible downside to moving on that PH is that we lose out on resources in the eastern fog, if there are any.

AH appears to be required early here, so maybe do that first, then go BW for all those forests.

Just some initial thoughts there. Much can change once we start playing.

Thanks @Fippy

I'm also tempted by the PH but need to do some maths. Imperial with 50% settler bonus on hammers gives pause for thought on SIP; advantage of fogbusting some of the (presumed) tundra to the north with culture from capital. SIP would persuade me to go hunting->AH to improve deer with a discount to AH. Settling on the PH seems like a pretty strong capital though and if we go BW first there's a lot of forest to chop with that imperial bonus...

A lot of interesting choices here. Too tired to think them all through.

Wow what a start! Thanks @Fippy!

So many options for settling positions and tech paths - will be very interesting to see what everyone does.

Also tempted by either plains hill or SIP. Some bolder moves definitely possible that may/may not pay off! Tech wise - not sure about going hunting first however. Think it’s key that worker doesn’t have to pause before improving cow after corn - but not sure how timings will line up need to work it out. Also with such strong natural production and good tiles to improve bronze working is less important than usual too I think - still likely pick it up early but need to consider economy too.

Like @Gumbolt i need some rest to think it through properly. Will probably only be able to play at the weekend too so plenty of time to mull it over.

@Fippy
This is really very kind of you to pick up the role of hosting this.
I will join this too.

and.....

I think this is an excellent idea.
The cookbook set up could lead to the trap of people focussing only on fiercely defending and promoting there own safe. This is (hopefully) the way to prevent that.

Pre-discussion.
Despite all those food specials not a super high food start. SIP or PH SW seems the choice. Lots of options with an Imp leader, could mine some hill food while producing settlers.
If you count it out I think PH settle will deliver the first settler faster.
Then I would probably skip Hunting. The deer is not an attractive site for early expansion (the sheep is, but hopefully can settle south/east of it). Chopping sooner will be more helpful. And then Pottery for cottaging etc.

Thanks @Fippy for doing this!

I really like this concept and would like to participate.
The file however does not seem to work for me. Usually saves from the forums are no problem to open, but this will not even show up in the game.

Pre-discussion:
First impression is to move to PH located SW. Not losing a lot of high profile food tiles (unless there are some in the fog).
However I want to reserve my full judgement after seeing the start in-game.

PS: Just recorded my first win on Immortal two days ago with Suleiman :)

Thanks @Fippy this seems like a great initiativ!
I will participate if I get buffy to work. I always play with it but have never managed to get it to work properly.

Pre-discussion:
I think SiP. You get a 13 turn worker with the 1f3h deer tile. Which is the same as a PH hill move.
I see a good allround cap. 6 cottagable rivers a bunch of hills. (1 farm is probably needed to irrigate).
The power tiles gives the cap + 7 food (+8 with irrigation).

Tech.. I would be tempted to go AH (14 turns) then mining (7 turns) /BW (16 turns). then grab hunting. But really undecided here.
Probably faster and better to chop/whip than to improve the deer tile for the first settler production.
But the safer option is Hunting/AH/Archery. The worker can road a couple turns.
A early archery might be game breaking and probably is wise.. This "godly start" must have a flip(py)side.

De-selecting for 5 turns and get as much scouting information is going to be vital.

I think the big thing that is going to different the lot is to do only warriors to fogbust or grab archers.
The warrior "riskers" that survive will most definitely have a better start.

@Imploding Just BUG used for this one, not Buffy yet :)
Think you were the first mentioning how both SIP and PH have 13t workers.
There are no hidden surprises or bad surrounding land here ;)
It's our regular Immortal game.

@Gressulf Maybe @lymond can help with the save loading problems.
I would very much like to know too why this sometimes happens for peoples.
I deactivated my .dll file in assets for this game.

@Powerfaker Merci, i hope so too.
Nothing wrong with promoting your own save a bit (natural).
Without a rating system there shouldn't be too much focus on that thou.

@Pangaea cheers for getting your game in.

@Nick723 Hunting gives 20% discount on AH, making it very cheap overall.
Deer might get underestimated..improved it's basically plains cows.

@5tephen Yup some very good thoughts.

The fastest worker comes from the coastal plains hill.

@Fippy

I'm coming out of hiatus to question WHY in the world you gave us three of the WORST food resources to start the game...all of them combined add up to a single wet corn :(...

EDIT: wait, nevermind, saw the other corn - that's quite a bit better, at least, I might actually play this, and practice not reloadspamming like I usually do.

Never doubt Mylene and map creations! She can read maps better than most.

@Fippy Thank you very much for replying.

I have no idea why it is happening. I have no problem with Noble's Club games or Immortal University. Never had any problem with other saves as well.
I am running the game through Steam, with BUG/BULL automatically set up in the assets folder.

@lymond Appreciate if you have a solution for this issue. I would very much like to participate!

Well, first in follow-up to My's point, it should have nothing to do with having BULL DLL active. That issue applies to Lock Modified Assets on.

Regardless, opening a WB save (NC and IU) is different from opening a normal save that someone else has created.

To be clear, when you say "BUG/BULL automatically set up in the assets folder", I'm assuming you mean the "Custom Assets" folder. Let me know if that is not the case.

Anyway, first thing I must ask, since you use Steam version, is whether you use the Beta version of BTS (original release unsupported). If not, that is the first thing that needs to be addressed.
