You know those corrupt-a-wish threads, where each person makes a wish after finding some way in which the previous poster's wish can go horribly wrong? Well, I'd like to put a twist on that idea. Each of us should post something that we wished for in the past, which actually came true, only to go horribly wrong. For example:
What I wished for: Live-action Transformers movies! Woohoo!
How it went wrong: Bad stories, worthless characters, horrible robot designs, total rape of canon, and the TFs themselves were neither live-action nor the main characters in their own damn movie.
What I wished for: a movie based on American McGee's Alice
How it went wrong: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
What I wished for: a "Sliver King" card for Magic: The Gathering
How it went wrong: Sliver Overlord
What I wished for: The removal of Saddam Hussein from power; self-determination for the Iraqi people.
How it went wrong: Paul Bremer and de-Ba'athification.
What I wished for: Supposedly "conservative" Republicans getting into Congress.
How it went wrong: As soon as they got elected (both 1994 and 2010), they forgot all about cutting spending, simplifying the tax code, privatizing social security, and basically every other good idea they supported, and instead decided to engage the Democrats in a race to see who could grow our deficits and reduce our freedoms the fastest.
