Bed_head7 noticed that the entire-civ culture victory requirement was 100k, not 130k like it should be for a large map - thanks for bringing that to my attention! :goodjob:

My apologies about this - I was too focused on getting the tech cost and corruption modifiers checked that I didn't think to check this!

We will modify the Jason Parameters for the map to even things out.

Pretty funny - I'm going for 130K and hadn't noticed this. Must have been in front of my face a few times by now. Oh well, looks like I'll be finishing 4 or 5 turns sooner than I expected. (Just kidding! Actually a bit over 15 I would think!)

Damn! Just my luck. Though I probably wasn't going to get the best date anyway, my game is going pretty well.

Well, I wish I could laugh about it!

Aeson seems to think that in terms of the Jason score the difference would have been minimal anyway, and when we 'fudge' the jason parameters its won't make much difference.

However, the large map has also caused the problem with submissions as well, so its a learning curve for us all!

SirPleb, since you haven't posted in the spoiler yet (have you?), would you mind telling me just how early you were getting 2000 cpt?

I'm just writing my spoiler one post now. But I'm afraid the answer to this question (and to whether I make it to 2000cpt) will have to wait for a later spoiler ;)

I've had a similar experience, but on a small map. Had been staring at the F8 screen constantly, calculating how many turns remained until my 100K victory (I was trying a variant with Feudalism, pop-rushing culture like mad), and suddenly got the "You have achieved a Cultural Victory" a full century before I expected! :) How I missed the 80,000 requirement, when it was plainly listed on F8, I have no idea.

Anyway, good luck and I'll look forward to reading your spoilers, SirPleb, I love a good cultural victory!

For the record, we've adjusted the Jason best date for this game as if it were a Classic game on a large map. The reduction this makes in the Jason scores for all-city culture victories is less than 1%.

Yes, the best date for this victory condition is earlier than it would be on a standard map. But as Jason scores are relatively insensitive to best date the actual impact is felt as a <1% reduction in score.

OK... this is my first COTM... what the heck is a Jason score??? and how do I figure this out compaired to my regular score???

(That answer is too short though as it's less than 10 characters!)

Could've just written it out in words: "One hundred thousand CULTURE!". And done that thing with your little finger whilst writing it. I'll stop now.

Neil.

This is another off topic post though it is sort of on topic. Sort of.

Temples created by Temple of Artemis don't recieve the double culture bonus after 1000 years? That seems to be the case, and I am rather disappointed since that will add quite a few turns. Though I think I will still be right on the brink of my pre game goal for my finish, 1500 AD.

I haven't played enough C3C to notice! Can you send me a save file for my own enlightenment on this please? (gotm@civfanatics.net).

Actually, my submittal for COTM1 (Incans , errrr, I mean Hittites ) shows the same effect; ToA temples do not double after 1000 years BUT cities that had temples in them prior to ToA DO double.
