Creepy/scary/uncanny/gross enemies

The face huggers from AVP1 were terrifying i thought. Especially because most of the time you couldnt see them, then something catches your eye and jumps at the screen, covering the whole thing, resulting in me falling off my chair.

If im honest though, i prefer the more psychological experience, and for that i would have to go for Shodan from system shock 2. When she reveals herself, i think that is possibly the scariest moment in videogame history (IMO).

Back in the day imps used to scare me in doom. Not when they were far away. More when you didnt realise they were behind you, then you heard that awful tearing sound. In fact, doom in general was an assault on the senses because it was the first time I had ever played anything that looked and felt so real. That and i was about 9 years old :)

Nothing scares me in games anymore, although when it did it was the result mostly of feeling i was partly in the world of the game, and only secondarily that the actual enemies were that frightening due to their form.

So i do not have an enemy to post, but i have this still from Silent Hill 4:

In my view the story started great in that game (i have not played it, but saw videos of it and read articles on it). A door which is locked and chained up in such a way with the person living in the apartment not remembering anything of the sort is by itself a very atmospheric image :)

Nothing really scares me in games, but one thing sprung to mind upon seeing this thread title.

Brood Mother

from Dragon Age: Origins. I don't know how it compares to those enemies mentioned in this thread from shooters or other first person games, as I haven't played them. And I like the play up to Brood Mother with the creepy poem.

I won't link a picture because technically Brood Mother does have breasts. Although I would hardly think mods would consider her breasts tantalizing enough to censor them. :D

Resident Evil 1, a "dead" zombie just got up and sprinted at me.
Almost had to change my pants.

Anyone else remember this splicer in Bioshock?

Not my video, but his reaction isn't far off from what mine was.

Fast zombies in Ravenholm in HL2 freaked me out the first time one attacked me... then again, it had a helping hand from a cruel and heartless person who snuck up behind me in a dark room and yelled really loudly just as the zombie charged at me. Took about an hour for my heart rate to slow down again.

Yes, I had a similar reaction as well ;)

Just started playing through dead space. Pretty much everything in the entire game makes my list, though the baby zombies with tentacles are really scary. I don't play a lot of horror type games but for what it's worth this is easily the scariest game I've ever seen. I play with sound down and lights on lol.

Ichthyosaur in Half-Life. I'm always worried its going to get me when I go into the water in ANY game.

Creepers and Endermen always scare me when I see them. I don't think I'll ever get used to them.

You might enjoy Minecraft, Kyriakos. There's a very serene charm to it that makes its monsters all the more creepy.

The poison headcrabs in HL2. Brilliant piece of sound design, that.

Especially the ones in Ravenholm. That place is already bad enough without those things jumping out at you in every confined space there.

That was horrible to watch... One just continueally knows what's coming... D:
