UU: Carthaginian Galley - a galley that combines the traditional method of powering a galley - rowing - with efficient sails to create a very fast and nimble ship

Spend 1 EC on creating 1 navy of Carthaginian Galleys

Agree to trade with the other powers of the Mediterranean and allow their ships to come uninterrupted to Carthage

Send our fleet to attack merchant ships that are traveling between other Mediterranean powers. Make some effort not to be recognized, but I really don't know how anyone would tie pirates at this age to a specific government anyways.

Have fun!

Orders edited. Sorry. Stories possibly posted soon.

What is the parenthesis number infront of our Army/Navy?

Finally, will edit in a UU.

Orders

Spend 1 eco on growing the economy: from these humble beginnings, the glory of empire shall arise!

Settlers are encourged to bring civilization to the north.

Capital moved from Tampa to Orlando.

OOC:

A question arises, how does one build economy? You claim that there is other numbers beyond the first two, but I see none. Will they be added later? Also I will have a story up this evening.

OOC: Just spend into the economy to grow it. Alternatively, sometimes taking land and engaging in certain military endeavors (a la looting) can give you some gold.

Also, I fixed the map for those of you who were unhappy. Changes include: Fixed the color of Wu's capitol, moved Milan's capitol slightly north, and relocated the Dani tribes.

Spoiler :
Spend 1 EP on expanding our economy.
Build 1 Army.

Spoiler Orders :

UU: The War-chariots of Nethuns. Fast (sail-equipped), yet still sturdy, warships manned by skilled, veteran sailors.

2 EC - Get as many war-chariots as possible.

Become a middle-man in trade between the eastern and western Mediterranean. Create a large merchant class that buys goods from foreigners and then sells them to other foreigners. Allow Carthaginian merchants to trade freely with ours in the western part of Sicily (near what might be Agrigento), and Greek merchants to trade freely with ours in the eastern part of Sicily (near what might be Catania), but if they attempt to directly trade with each other, tax them very heavily. Basically, just don't let any foreigners trade with other foreigners before we get a hefty share of the profits by middle-man-ing.
Use our large fleet to project our power over the surrounding area and deal with any annoying pirates/foreigners. We will consider all waters from Sicily to the Gulf of Sidra to be ours.
Expand into southern Italy, partly with help from our navy, partly with help from tales about our riches, partly with promises to make lands there as rich as mainland Sicily, and partly with colonization. However, this is nowhere as important as our domination of the central Mediterranean.

Early Floridian History c. 2000 BC

The first parts of Floridian recorded history emerge from tales of the War of the Two Cities. As far as we can tell, prior to this event the Floridian culture existed among a variety of feuding factions, lacking an unified government. The center of Floridian culture before the war was the holy city of Tampa, a center for local religious rites and worship. No other major population centers are believe to have existed outside of Tampa, and there is no record of how or why the city was founded, as it did not sit on any major routes or have any remarkable terrain feature. Tampa was ruled by a collection of priests of the temples in the city, usually as a coalition, and the government lived upon the wealth brought in from the various villages across the peninsula and islands. From approximately a thousand years before the war, Tampa stood as the sole symbol of Floridian culture and civilization.

The focus of Floridian civilization upon Tampa would change when the town of Orlando, a city which sat on a multitude of trade and pilgrimage routes, rose to challenge it for supremacy. The wealth coming through this town allowed the chief of Orlando to assume great power and prosperity. He showed his thanks to the gods by building a great temple for the god of wealth, the first to be constructed outside of Tampa. When word reached the council in Tampa, the priests were outraged and they felt the focus of their power was threatened by the upstarts to the east. They feared that Orlando would supplant them as the religious bastion of the Floridian religion and therefore they soon began denouncing the chief and demanding that he halt the construction of the new temple. In response the chief cut the main routes of food and supply to Tampa, hoping to starve the city into surrender. This proved to be the start to the War of the Two Cities.

In response to the blockade of the trade and supply routes, the priests assembled a makeshift army of pilgrims and farmers, hoping to overwhelm the Chief’s bodyguard in a surprise attack. They also hoped to obtain the support of the people of Orlando, by portraying the leader as a heretic and blasphemer. This soon backfired, as many believed that there was no logical way that the construction of a holy place could possibly be looked down upon by the gods. The war would be decided between the two cities on the plains of Orlampa, where two major battles were fought. In the end the bodyguard, which had seen experience against bandits who preyed on the pilgrims, emerged victorious over the army of the priests.

The Chief, knowing that he had an insurmountable advantage over the holy men, declared that he would not pillage or attack Tampa itself and pledged to allow them to retain their positions and titles. He also promised to leave the pilgrim routes open and to never shut them again. In exchange he demanded to be given the title of King of the Floridians, recognizing him as the absolute ruler of the Floridian people. In this manner he brought a unified single government to the peninsula and people of Florida. The palace of Orlando soon became the center of Floridian government.

King Cypselus sat at his desk. A cultured monarch who believed that it was his duty to provide for the people of Sicily, he had been studying a great many maps, each contradicting the other, and had been attempting to reconcile their differences. Maps had only recently been introduced in Sicily, thanks to King Cypselus. Early on in his reign he had realized that the true strength of Sicily did not rest in its fertile lands, but rather in its geography. He saw that Sicily was in an ideal position to take control of the east-west Mediterranean trade and began encouraging the emergence of a Sicilian merchant class and even went as far as colonizing Malta, an island that would become essential to merchants trying to make the perilous east-west trek. Now, in his old age, his risky ventures had begun paying off as Sicily began being seen as a regional power, rather than just an island full of ambition-less farmers.
- "Sir, I have wonderful news!"
The King's reflections were suddenly interrupted by the entrance of one of his aides. He had sent the man to Calabria only a few days earlier; his hasty return could only mean one thing:
- "Has Reggio decided to join the kingdom?"
- "Not only have they decided to do so, but they have agreed to supply us with their best seamen! We will finally have enough experienced men to fully man the fleet!"
The King expressed his pleasure with a contented grunt and dismissed the minister. Reggio, once a city richer than all of Sicily combined, now paled in importance when compared to the likes of Catania and Agrigento. In the years to come, this story would be repeated manifold.

I have 12 sets of orders. If I can get a complete set by tonight I will do another update because I feel energized.

Bengal was a peculiar country, being right on the Ganges delta. Its capital was at Kolkata, which coincidentally was also was its main port. The King was a cool guy, treating his people well along the way. Did I mention it’s in India?

There was a certain caste, subject to change. It was on the Kingdom Wall as The Caste List.

THE CASTE LIST: SUBJECT TO CHANGE:

1. Nobles
2. Merchants
3. Warriors
4. Priests
5. Tigers
6. Other Jobs

You could move up to a noble in the caste system (unless you were a tiger), though it was rare.

They had domesticated tigers and cattle. No horses, though. They had domesticated the tiger so well, there were no accidents. Instead, they were used as pets and war tools. Elephants were also used in warfare as a combat to infantry.

However, there were surrounding tribes as well. The Burmese tribes were friendly with the Bengal nation, trading by sea and land. The Orissans remained neutral. However, the Bihari did not like the Bengali tribes that had recently settled into their homelands. But there would be nothing they could do, as they would be conquered, pulverized, and annexed into the kingdom of Bengal.
