Crossroads of the World and Right to Rule DLC - themed predictions based on what we know

Photo of Carthage from the stream - looks like a Cothon as infrastructure, and the Byrsa as a wonder perhaps?

So we get a second Indian leader in the game before some regions or Civs have any representatives! I guess it's too expensive to record Maya or Nahuatl dialogue, etc?

YESSSSSSSS, Bulgaria are in <3

It was great to debate which civs would be in CofW, and we were all wrong this whole time. :p

True enough. Great Britain's inclusion was basically a freebie.

I think Zaarin will be pleased with Carthage. It's not Phoenicia, but it will do well enough. I am VERY pleased with Bulgaria.

What age do we reckon Nepal is in? Modern, right?

Still modding the civ's name to Phoenicia and its capital to Ṣūr, but from a gameplay perspective looks promising. I definitely prefer Byrsa (or, based on that picture, possibly Rosh Addir) to the Cothon of Carthage for a wonder. Artificial harbors were common throughout the Phoenician world, including at Carthage, but the "Cothon of Carthage" was probably built right before the Third Punic War and had little time to be effective for...anything really. Buying up city-states feels very Phoenician. I like the Egyptian elements in the palace; Phoenician art and architecture was very Egyptianizing and mildly Assyrianizing.

After playing Civ 6 for years it does look funny to see a Cothon built beside another lighthouse and dockyard (fishing quay).

What if they do Phoenicia latter? I know almost impossible odds, but in the base game both Carthage and Phoenicia appear as separated IP's so we can dream of. Also this kind of overlap will end up being common in the future, we're sure to see multiple versions of China, India and Arabia in the Exploration Age, so two Punic civs in Antiquity wouldn't be so out of the box.

Then I'll mod their Phoenicia and Carthage to be better. :mischief:

What would Phoenicia get as uniques if the Cothon is taken?

I think there would be a lot of overlap because even the gameplay style would be very similar, but who knows... I'd expect that level of overlap if the game ever went beyond 100 playable civilizations.

In any case, I'd much prefer if they had gone to Phoenicia instead of Carthage.

Yeah, they both existed in Humankind, but Carthage came an age later. They also had elephants as the UU instead of a naval unit. Not sure if it will be the case in Civ 7.

I'd recommend a Temple of Milqart and a Potter's District making a Maqom Quarter.

Just out of curiosity, what about the picture indicates Rosh Addir (aka Rusadir/Melilla?) to you?
TBH just where it's placed relative to the city. If they're attempting to recreate the city of Carthage, its placement would correspond to Cape Bon/Rosh Addir. It could still well be Burs'ut/Byrsa.

Battersea Power Station is probably the British associated wonder
