CTR1 -- Jump Without Looking (the Deity Virgin Sacrifice)

We don't need to wait on Wanderer, iirc he's not usually around on weekends.

I'll go play my turns now ... here's hoping ...

Great! (never doubted it. :) ) Congratulations to all of us.
Take a , let's [party]

Thanks for starting this game ChrTh, it was great fun, even though it was tough sometimes. We've all come a long way, from having not even won on Emperor before. I've learned a lot, and can recommend playing SGs to everyone lurking. I've done so for a long time and it does take a bit nerve to enter one, but it's worth it.

So again, thanks for running it, ChrTh and I'm sure we'll meet again in one SG or another.

How'd everyone do with the last couple turns? I *barely* had enough population, but was able to prevent Persia from grabbing any cities. I should've handled my worker joins better, in the end.

It was an epic game, folks, and I didn't even think we'd win! It's a good thing Persia waited until the end to attack us though ...

:tank: :ninja: :tank:

EDIT: there are a couple slots open in CTR 5: Wonderhogs :D

Well, I needed 2 turns. I missed the pop mark by 10 in the first turn. I should have taken 1 extra Persian city in the first. I thought 1 worker join would bring me 1 pop closer, but it doesn't because it's a percentage of the total, so you need 3 worker joins to gain 2 in the domination pop count. I know Earp did better...

Thanks for the invite, but I'm already in MB1 doing a culture thing. And I'd like to have some time to re-join GOTM.

@space: Culture? Culture is turned off in CTR5 :)

Did Persia land troops by Lyons during your turns?

No, their ships were still at sea, I could see 2 Transports underway. But rails are a blessing you can just defend the hot spots with about everything you have, and armies are great defenders. Did you use the empty one that was waiting?

I had a problem with that Army: I couldn't do anything with it :hmm: it wouldn't let me hurry production or build an army.

EDIT: I'M AN IDIOT! It already was an Army; I was treating it like it was a leader ... :wallbash:

Well, now that I've revealed myself to be a moron ...

[original post continued]
I did get two great leaders in my assault on the southern continent (I named the units "Snowball's Chance in Hell" and "I DON'T HEAR NO FAT LADY SINGING") to build two more armies. It's funny that the first message I got on the new turn was "Our people want to build the Pentagon, maybe we should"

Well, I just managed to get enough population on the first turn to win. Obviously taking the Formerly English cities was trivial. On our continent I took 3 cities and saved the game and I was at -11 pop. Cant remember how many tiles. On the interturn the Persians landed 9 tanks near Lyons and took back one size 3 city.

We are magnificent (apparently) and got a score of 7500ish. I didn't save it as I was only worried about ChrTh's turns.

What interested was how close Persia were to 100K. Another 6 or seven turns would have done it according to Apollo.

Well, It's been great guys. It was just as difficult as I expected, but we managed to shade it. I think we all deserve a

Hear hear for the

Yeah, I knew Persia was close. Once England was gone, I looked at the chart and did a :suicide: ... at that point it was going to be cultural before space (still hadn't researched Ecology)

:goodjob:

That was a heroic 4-month effort. I enjoyed going thru the ups and downs in this game.

I managed to capture enough territory and pop to win on turn 0. Here is my save file from the end of 1585AD and a picture at the beginning of 1590AD. I can post a turn log for 1585AD if anyone is interested.

I really enjoyed playing this SG with you all. I think we pulled out a great Deity victory for a bunch of Deity newbies.
