I played my longest ever SG session just now. I might not even have time/energy to play EG1 tonight

Anyway, here is the turn report with some nice pictures for you to digest
Hmm, my first thoughts are that we seem to be lagging techonologically by quite some way. We're 5 techs at least behind Persia and America, and for all we know it could be more. We should try and get as many of these from a peace treaty as possible.
PT: I make some slight modifications in cities. IE switch a few entertainers to taxmen.
260AD: San Francisco Temple -> Pikeman, All other cities Samarui->Samauri. Best way to stop San Fran flipping is to make sure it doesn't share any borders with America

I take out a spearman on flat ground with an elite samauri, but no leader

Do the same with the same result. (These spears were in our territory). Take on a few knights and we only suffer 1 loss. Move troops in towards Boston.
IT: Persia declares war on India (!?) American longbow kills a vet samauri and captures catapult he was guarding.
270AD: Kagoshima Pikeman -> Temple - this is for land grab as Kagoshima is such a long way from front military will not be useful. Kill the enemy longbow and then recapture our catapult which was helpfully moved 1 tile closer to Miami by the Americans. Our eight samauri fail to capture Boston

We suffer 4 losses, the rest manage to retreat. Boston left defended by a redlined regular musket. Hmm. Then...
Well, it's nice to know we have nothing to build with him. ChrTh suggested possibly making peace to use a leader if we get one - to an extent I agree with this philosophy. I don't know how long ago America has been using 3 Muskets per city, but they are in a different league to our samauri. Now we have a leader, there's not much point continuing to send samauri to their death on American muskets for very little gain. I need to up to luxs to 20% to compensate for unhappiness starting to creep into our cities. The governer seems to think he is managing a lot of our cities..
280AD: St. Louis Temple -> Marketplace. Renogiciate lux trade with Xerses. He gives 5gpt + furs for our dyes. Capture Boston with the loss of 1 elite. (They only had 1 defender). I pull all troops into cities to heal and regroup ready for a big push on the American core. I pray Boston won't flip in the near future. I move our leader back towards Kyoto. I see no reason why our wonder shouldn't go in the capital - we don't want to risk it in a border city in case we lose it and the capital is like to be the most secure.
290AD: More samauri produced/ordered. Have a hunt around for a good price on Music Theory. As I suspected Ghandi offered the best price:- WM + 442 gold. I then sell Ivory and Dyes to England for a net of WM 50g and 15gpt. No reason to have excess luxs lying around. Liz from annoyed -> polite is a nice side bonus. Troops continue to heal.
IT: Iroquois jump in with India in the war against persia

)) - should slow the tech pace down.
300AD: Ah... Bachs completes (see picture below)
More samauris ordered. Atlanta Pikeman -> Library. Move 10 samauri into position to have a pop at Miami. Better safe than sorry. Rather optimistically go leader fishing again

The Iroquois don't have Music Theory yet, but they won't give me much of a discount on any non-optional techs and Printing Press doesn't excite me.
310AD: Detroit Temple -> Pike, Kagoshima Pike->Marketplace. More sams ordered too. We capture Miami very nicely. Only defended by 2 muskets, but also a longbow and a pike. We lose 1 elite. Whilst Washington is a major target it will be well-defended so I wish to leave it til late. Also if it is one of the last in the south to fall the capital should fly away way up north which will help with culture flips. Station the catapults in Boston near some iron which seems to be attracting some unwanted attention. Luxs don't really need to be at 20% for the majority of our cities, but I'd rather have them up than to put specialists in 2 or 3 key war producers.
320AD: The troops move in towards Chicago. It's nice to see smoke pouring out of the top of Washington as we move in for the kill

. I also notice Washington's best defender is a regular pike - would have been better to take that first but I didn't know that in advance - however troops are placed in such a way that if we get chicago any units with 2 moves left can hit Washington too. Wierdly, two big cities that needed 20% last turn both grew and now require a specialist at both 20% and 10% so I drop luxs to 10%. We have some nice cash on hand, but I won't spend it on tech until we have squeezed the American lemon until the pips squeak (a slightly doctored quotation)
330AD: We take Chicago with very minimal losses. Operation Washington looks near impossible however. It is built on a hill, across a river from us

I decide instead to wait a turn to allow all my troops to be ready, and then to hop them across the river to at least increase our chances slightly. Theres a nice looking hill we can try and defend from. We will have 15 troops for this attack, which I'm hoping will be enough. There are two longbows loitering outside Seattle which is defended by one lonely vet sam. Hmm - send an elite up from Boston to kill one and the vet in Seattle deals with the other earning a promotion.
IT: American Longbow kills an elite sam
340AD: Attack and kill the aformentioned longbow with an elite. Move troops into positon adjacent to Washington. Discontent is spreading through the masses - up luxs to 20%
350AD: Tokyo Worker->Harbor - it needs to grow! We capture Washington! It was defended by a pike and 4 spears. Didn't take too many losses. New capital in New Orleans :/ In my spirit of (over)confidence I use the remaining 7 or eight samauris to have a go at Houston. I get possibly the worst bad luck out of the RNG I've ever had. 5 samauri fail to kill a musket who loses just 1 hp and upgrades to elite. However, eventually, we capture Houston.
To next player: The majority of our troops are in and around Houston and Washington. Some of our newly captured cities are in disorder. They are naturally unhappy about the war. Of course you could hire entertainers but it seems to be slowing down the resistance ending when I do that. They are still in resistance which I guess is bad from the point of view of a flip so perhaps you might like to sort that out. I feel when we go for peace (which we do want to do soon) we should prioritise techs over cities. We want to build some more workers definately and marketplaces in our major cities. Forgoe libraries and unviersities as we are not going to be powering any research for a while. Happiness in our cities is as changable as the British weather so tread carefully and tweak specialists and lux rates each turn to avoid disorder in any of our major cities. Good luck.
