And if you know any of the answers, just inform me. You will need any point you get, Taliesin just improved his score to 41 and is not going to settle down with that, either.

And why not? Besides the great importance of literature, that question is not only mere literature, you know.
But where are all our great military men? So far nobody has even offered a suggestion to the answer to # 2...

And I've spent the whole of my Friday night reading through this old thread, and must say that studying engineering isn't to my credit when it comes to assorted history knowledge, but it's been a pleasant read.

Yes that is quite a good way of getting (a bit more) educated. As for engineering, history of science is really not my strong point, even if I have tried to put in a few questions related to that topic.
I also notice that you brought up your score to 14. I suppose you are not going to rest with that...

Sent in my answers for this round. I wonder how I did read the questions last week and thought on many of them before sending in my answers and still I didn't have a clue on many of the questions.

So I lost the bet with troopers...
Ciceronian arrived, looked a bit around, and grabbed the lead with 42.
Meanwhile jameson improved his score to 30 and has perhaps started his climb to fame as he was pretty close on a couple of others questions as well.
Due to the continued interest and indeed a couple of requests, the new and final deadline will be Tuesday 13th March, 12.00 CET

So technically, and especially since I am the Supreme Ruler of this quiz, his entry is valid in any conceivable way.
Therefore I declare, from gentleman to another, that you won the bet sir, and this gentleman always pays his debts...

Not so much for the moment. I was thinking of it a few months ago, but some heavy RL-issues got in the way. Now I am just a bit reluctant to use not so few hours for an article with fancy pictures and getting about 10 answers to the thread while the Usual Suspects are busily continuing to nuke Mecca on page 15...
