Currency

You forgot beer! And this is why we love Canada!

I don't really mind, but I suppose a blind person might have troubles since they are all the same size. We are taking baby steps with the facelifted presidents and the new twenty dollar bill.

We've got that covered. In the top-right of the bill (you might be able to see it in the pics SuBI posted), the denomination of the bill is impressed in Braille.

And yes, the US bills are the most confusing and boring ones on the entire planet.

Confusing? I don't see what the big deal is in finding the number...it's everywhere on the bill...and if you see the newer bills, you even see a small golden number on the back of the bill covering almost the entire back.

Braille I can see...but color-coding it? Not for me.

Personally I prefer Canada's older bills, though I am getting used to the new, brighter variety. And the braille thing...usually it just flattens out, as they were just indented as opposed to actually being poked all the way through to form tiny holes that actually last.

American money isn't too confusing. I always keep my money neatly folded in my wallet so it's always nice and flat, and if I have enough it's a simple matter to make them into a wad (had 16 ones once...not much, but wads just feel rich). But they are rather boring, and it takes more than a quick glance to figure out what denomination it is...but then again I have to do that with Canada's new bills too.

One thing I like more about American money is the one dollar bill. I thought coins were better, but after staying in Florida for a week I actually really came to link, and prefer, them. Keeps my wallet from getting really bumpy...hurts the rear after a while, if ya know what I mean. ;)

I kinda like our bills, especially if they're in my pocket :)

A little bit off topic but has anyone seen a 500 or 1000 dollar bill? Oh, and the extremely rare 2001 dollar bill.

Edit: I dare someone to print this money using a color printer and using it next time you go to the store.

I like the fact that our money is all one color. Like someone else said, all different colors just looks like Monopoly money. Although the Switzeland currency does look very nice.

Who are those people on them?

10 CHF Bill: Le Corbusier - Architect
20 CHF Bill: Arthur Honegger - Composer
50 CHF Bill: Sophie Täuber-Arp - Artist
100 CHF Bill: Alberto Giaccometti - Artist
200 CHF Bill: Charles Ferdinand Ramuz - Author
1000 CHF Bill: Jakob Burckhardt - Art and Culture Historian

Actually the only guy I knew before they got on the bills was Le Corbusier :crazyeye:

British ones are colour coded. Does anyone remember the old £1 note?

I kept one for memory (figured it might be collectable one day), but I lost it some years later. Suspect it was stolen

Cannot remember clearly, but I think it was a grey-green colour, similar to US notes.

I'm pretty sure I read something about how the currency must remain recognizable to keep the economy stable.
We change the looks and size of our money quite often, so it can't be too damaging to the economy. The american economy is a bit larger though... I suspect the reason is forging though.

I found a note from a few years ago that I had lost in my room, and I didn't recognize it at first, thought it was foreign.:)

And why are those North Koreans worshipping an atom on their money?

Probably cause it is related to a nuclear bomb.
