Also try to play without warrior rushing a nearby capital. It just will not work on Monarch.

(Unless you're Inca, but ya never learn to play Civ by playing Inca.)

actually it does (on the flawed marathon). Most AIs do leave a single archer in the capital during the 1st expand, bring 6 warriors (esp. good if you are aggressive) and the capital would be yours.

Also works if you get the broken shield (cover promo for each melee unit) random event.
