First up, apologies for not being very active recently. While school finished a few weeks ago, I've been away in Italy, then Manchester, and then Leeds for various reasons. Anyway, all that aside, we all, I'm sure, have a whole lot more free time than normal to really start cranking the wheels on this thing.
Once NikNaks can answer these questions, we'll be able to actually do some work. Until then, though, I don't know that anyone really knows exactly where we are.
Too true. Hopefully I can clear some things up. If I'm being too vague, pester me, and I'll do more digging.
What do you already have implemented that is supposed to be in the mod?
Right. Well, I currently have the RevDCMWoC bundle that was released a few months ago, and was (I think) half-way through rewriting the XML to make it compatible. I'll upload what I have, if I haven't already, and we can see what's missing that's already been done.
None of the new features (i.e. the coding aspects) have been done, due to none of us having any relevant knowledge. All that aside, there are a lot of things we can do with the functionality brought to us by the SDK bundle I mentioned above, so we can still do a lot with it. Other than that, I think there are still many parts of the XML waiting to be written, but as to which those are, I'm not entirely clear. Once I've updated the repo, we'll have a clearer picture.
What things have you seen that simply cannot be done the way we wanted them to be done?
How do you mean? With the skillset of our team, there are many, but all are possible if we get a code guru to help out.
What are things still needed to be done that you cannot personally do, and we need to find outside help?...
See above.
I hope that's at least made it a little clearer. If it hasn't, keep asking questions and keep things alive. I've been a pretty c*** team leader recently, and I know that, but I want to try and make up for it before autumn comes.
So, if you've helped out in the past, want to help out, tried to help out but couldn't because I wasn't here, or can help in any way, please get on board with the SVN. If you don't know what that is, there's a thread
right here. I know many of you have read through that, followed the instructions and tried to download, but something went wrong. If this is you, post in that thread and I'll try and get as many of you on as I can. For those Mac users amongst you, there are clients around, but I'm yet to have a consensus on the best one around. If anyone has any suggestions for that, pass them on.
On the front of files, if anyone has done any work in the past, say, six months, and has it to hand, upload it in
this thread that I just created. In my own special way, I've overlooked, ignored, deleted or even forgotten about several files full of your hard work. If you still have those files (which I'm sure most of you do), post them there and I'll see how much further along we are than I thought. Of course, if you've correctly installed the SVN, you can upload it yourself.
Okay, how's that? That's pretty much everything I care to remember about the status of this project. Any more questions? I'm happy to answer them.
