Current (SVN) development discussion thread

Does anyone still have problems with "we wish to join our motherland" unhappiness in cities with independent culture?

Oh, good.

Anyway, new revision is being committed:
- Brazil and Argentina are now optional / can be randomized
- Brazil's and Argentina's spawn are now conditional based on the stability of the civ controlling their core
- Mexico doesn't flip American cities outside its core
- new first Mexican goal: build three cathedrals of your state religion by 1880 AD
- new second Mexican goal: get three great generals by 1920 AD
- added a tech history graph to the advisor screen*

I've also made the necessary preparations to include a third scenario into the mod, which is what I'll be working on next.

*partially because I could, partially to better monitor who's doing well tech wise. For example, this already confirmed my suspicion that Russia doesn't tech well enough.

Finally!

Have you decided which year will the scenario start in? Some time between 1600 and 1700 I bet? It depends on whether you wish to allow some civs with their current UHVs to be playable or not. Most prominently England and Netherlands, who would both be playable with the current UHVs at 1600, but 1700 would be a stretch.

However you could also adjust some of the UHV dates to accommodate the scenario date. For example England's expansion UHV deadline could be moved 1775 (First Anglo-Maratha War). Then its current set of UHVs will be totally playable at 1700.

IMO it's more important to select the most appropriate date (for me it's 1700) for the scenario first. The UHVs can then be adjusted to fit it if necessary. If you need new/alternative UHVs for this new scenario I'm sure I (and of course others) will come up with them as usual.

---

Also please consider implementing the Napoleonic War mechanism I proposed before. Such a mechanism may be necessary in this late scenario to give France an easier time to achieve its expansion UHV.

DoC fans with slower computers shall rejoice.

Definitely not the US It's been in since BtS.
what do you mean by ''randomized'' ?
As in they have a chance to be in

You can set them to appear only with 50%, 33% ... chance. Just like Tibet, Congo etc. The default setting is 100% though.

I'm currently thinking 1700 AD.

I don't know how I'll handle passed UHV deadlines, but there won't be scenario specific goals and I will not adjust end dates for all scenarios just to accommodate the new one. So either those UHVs will be unplayable or you start with these goals already completed, I don't know.

Still on my to do list!

I think we can just make a set of new UHVs. If there are problem messing with codes, we can use quest events, just let triumphal arch build at 2/3 quest completed as usual.

It doesn't have anything to do with the implementation side. I just don't want to have different UHVs for different scenarios in this mod.

Where do you have to go to change this. I know that Congo, Poland etc are optional but I have never found where you can change this.
Sorry, it's poorly documented. Look into Assets\XML\GlobalDefinesAlt.xml.

The comments in that file should explain what to change.

I got the newest SVN version and began a 600 AD monarch/marathon game as Argentina, and every turn I get five popups like this one:
Civ4ScreenShot0068_zps94e9b613.jpg

They'll be removed with the next commit.

New revision is up:
- more preparations for the new scenario (hence the changes in almost all files)
- removed annoying popups
- new cities get all free buildings from the previous era now

Conflicted? Does your mod folder show a red exclamation mark?

It did. I tried rolling back to my previous SVN version (494) didn't improve the situation either. So I removed the mod and downloaded again using SVN. That seems to have done the trick.

Don't know what went wrong, SVN updating has always been smooth in the past for me.
