And Lubyanka is broken, too overpowered, with all big cities and buildings you have, it can produce hundreds of espionage points per turn.

But not stability yet, right? Does anyone here play without stability at all?
Right. Continue to stick to previous revisions if you want stability and a balanced game.

But then Central Planning and Egalitarianism (or whatever it's called now) are OP too since they have more or less the same effects (hammers > espionage).

Right. In fact, even in original version, state property is already OP. The point is, communism has no drawback in this game, except no corporation, which is not that important. This is unreal. In recent DoC we still get corporation with central planning, and without drawbacks like corruption or waste or stability penalty, why switch to other civics? That means no post-communism crisis.

But if we add drawbacks, it might discourage people to play. So, what late-game challenge do we want to have? With longer and longer waiting time, I seldom play past 1800 now. I feel no new challenge with early civs.

I think that adopting communism civics should cause the Iron Curtain effect, whereby only other civs with Communism can have trade routes with you.

I have seldom played past 1800 for quite some time.

Civs with Central Planning will receive a stability penalty for having open borders with Free Market civs.

I like the idea! That would nerf communism a bit and it's interesting.
I really want to start a new game, but as I use to update svn everytime I can see that now there's no stability, so as far as I see I'll have to wait until 1.12 is released. I don't know if it's possible to reverse to previous svn though.

In the context menu under TortoiseSVN... you'll find the option "Update to Revision" where you can select any revision you want.

Stability might return soon, but it probably will experience some problems initially as I balance the involved numbers.

Could you make it so Poland settles Wilno/Vilnius 1N of its currently settled tile (2N1E of Krakow, on the horse), on the wheat? Not only is that more historical, it is also less crowded with Krakow.

Yes, please let it cook for a while. Game design is like stew in that regard.

But the game is so lacking in spices.
Literally.

Lubyanka is NOT broken. Min my Babylon cottage-into-hybrid-into-specialist/city-states economy, I was only making ~400 EPs a turn!!!!!!!!!!!

When the stability work again ...

You could downgrade to a previous SVN revision. 351 or 354 is the last 'stable' version, IIRC.

I generally suggest playing with v1.11/r541 for quite a while.

New commit to make the game even less playable!

Seriously though, this revision includes a first iteration of the new stability algorithm. Stability still has no effect, i.e. no collapses or changes of stability levels, instead your score in the five categories is printed in one of these annoying popup messages whenever a check is performed. In case you're interested.

I'm already quite happy with the resulting numbers (in case of the possible range, I haven't investigated whether they actually appropriately reflect the civ in question), except in the expansion category. Most of the test autoplays were 3000 BC Korea starts which means that most civs still stay in their core. Occasionally Greece showed a three digit negative score though so there is definitely still room for improvement.

Obviously don't update if you actually want to play.
