Current (SVN) development discussion thread

Hanging out in Off Topic chillaxing

He was designing some mods outside of the Creation and Customization, when a couple of topics who were up to no good started making trouble in his neighborhood. He got in one little fight, and his mom got scared, and said you're moving in with your auntie and uncle in Off-topic.

Or at least, that's what we think happened.

I have downloaded and updated the SVN, why do the Thais and Indonesians not appear to exist in my game?

What revision is your SVN?

How can I tell? Clicking 'SVN Update' does nothing.

Edit: 202, apparently. So the log would have me believe that I have the Thais, Mughals etc. but I see no such thing in my game.

If it is at 202, then you should see Mughal, Thai etc..
Mind posting a screenshot of your list of civilization (the screen when you're choosing what civilization you're going to play with)?

Here is my Civilopedia:

I have fixed everything. It seemed to have been a renaming issue.

Edit: I seem to have no scenarios. This is a problem.

Speaking of the Mughals: I would love to play them. However, I have no idea whatsoever what their UHV goals are. Did Leoreth ever decide/share his decision with us, or are they still uncoded?

In the leader selection screen and the Civilopedia, all their information is "XXXXX".

Leoreth wasn't planning to make them playable so no UHVs

So Indonesia and Thai is on your game now but you have no scenario?
Have you check the maps section?

Speaking of Mughals, Ackbar and every other Mughal emperor was of Mongol-Turkic descent. They should not be darker-skinned than Genghis or Kublai.

Fix the African-looking Ackbar leaderhead, please.

I think AI Mongolia is too powerful.every time it is born there are 2UU 1catapult and 1horse archer appear near every Russian/Byzantine/Seljuk city,it's too powerful.
Russia always doesn't discover engineering in 12th century,so it's too hard to Russia to complete"never lose a city".
I think Monglian Horde should be 1UU and 2horse archers.Or we can change "never lose a city" to "own 30 nukes in 1980" or "make sure all european civs adapt State Property(or Totalitarianism?) in 1980"
I think it's more balance and more appropriate to Russia

Well, we spent more than half a year tinkering how to make AI Mongolia stronger ;)
No. I don't think that's too powerful, IMO, because Mongol really such horrible nightmare for civilizations you mentioned..
Historically, Byzantine falls to Seljuk, then Seljuk falls to Khwarezmid, and then Khwarezmid falls to Mongol.. Not to mention Russian and the Mongol invasion of Volga Bulgar, the Golden Horde and many more.. :)

I both agree and disagree.
The Mongols realistically should get that big and wipe out China, Arabia, Persia & Russia but I really
think the AI Mongolia should get a scripted collapse. I think that would balance out the mega-Mongol problem we've been having.

but it may make AI Russia collapsed almost everytime.it's also too hard to "never lose a city".
so i think the Russian UHV should be fixed...

On the contrary, I've always seen mega-Russia in late game (post 1800), regardless of how Mongolia does. It doesn't matter if AI Russia looses a city - they'll make a real effort towards Domination anyway.

So far in each and every American game I've loaded, Russia has vassalized Turkey AND Persia. In one game they Vassalized Turkey, Persia, India, Egypt, and Mali, and controls La Mezquita, Topkapi Palace, Spiral Minaret, and University of Sankore. They switched to State Property and built Kremlin, Wembley, CERN, Apollo Program and Manhattan Project, and would have won Domination had I not REXed like crazy as America.

Russia has superb Stability simply from settling a ton of crap cities in Siberia with Resettlement. And their UP really makes them unbeatable. It doesn't matter if they tech slow - they'll get a lot of vassals to tech for them, and Catherine, Nicholas and Stalin are all very good at demanding money and techs from less powerful civs.

TL;DR AI Russia most certainly does not need buffs. As for Human Russia, the "not loose a single city" is the only UHV that presents any challenge at all.

And it can be won quite easily too - just don't build a single settler before the Mongol invasion, and work up the culture in your first 4 (5 if you take Kiev) cities to monstrous levels. The Mongols will only appear on the edge of your culture boundaries - if you work your cities to a radius 3 or 4 fat cross, General Winter combined with the many forests and desserts in vast Russia will kill those Mongols without you lifting a finger. You don't need Pikes - Levies are more than enough.

Same here, exept for me they usually just outright assimilate Persia. I also keep seeing a Russia with cities in the Middle East.

I think that should be seen as practically a bug in it's own right. Seems a bit OP.

On another note: What is REXing?
