Current (SVN) development discussion thread

Don't expect to start any of the additional modules (Varietas Delectat or the Soundtrack module) with the SVN version, they are not compatible. At least it looks like that's what you were attempting to do there.

Okay, I'll delete the add-ons and try again.

BTW is it possible to have the SVN and regular version installed at the same time?

Of course it's possible, you need to name one of these two mods to another name.

What do you think about changing the "Madrasa" (UB for the Arabs) currently it gives additional +25% culture and +2 priest slots over the regular library bonus.
The thing is:
The Arabs are always running Theocracy and therefore have unlimited priests anyway. And culture is never much of a problem for them either.

I know they are already pretty strong so I wouldn't want anything that strengthens them too much, but the current UB is pretty useless (except for the library-part).

How about a health bonus (Arabic Medizine)? Or a bazar (market) - unless someone else already has that one.

Also, I encountered the Moorish UU for the first time in my Arab game.
A mounted musketeer? The Moors ruled over southern Spain and northern Africa rather in the early middle ages than in the late...
The AI won't be able to use it, unless it is gifted lots and lots of techs and even for the player this UU probably comes so late in the game that it is already decided whether or not he wins.

Exactly. You will only be able to run the mod whose folder is currently named "RFC Dawn of Civilization".

Ah whatever, I'm just going to commit the current state of my working copy:
- incomplete AP/UN changes
- URV fixes/changes
- a bunch of other stuff that came up in the meantime

Do things for the URV-goals only count if they happen while you have that specific religion?
For example if I have had 30 turns of Golden Age before switching to Hinduism will I need another 24 or not?

Also: Shouldn't there be Christianity in Jerusalem even if the Arabs hold it? I mean the shrine is there after all. Or is that so Arabia can't build the Christian wonders?

Another 24.

thanks :)

I'd like to repeat also some other questions that seem to have gone unnoticed:

- the Byzantine UB-Theatre has no Artist-slots although Byzantium has a culture-goal. It seems this is due to the face that this building used to replace the Amphitheatre. Will the artist slots be added some time in the future?

- the Arab UB-Library gives + 2 priest slots for a civ that is continuously running Theocracy and is therefore useless as a UB (libraries are always good, so it will the build nevertheless). Would you be willing to replace it with another bonus/building?

- The Moors UU seems ahistorical, what is the idea/reasoning behind it?

edit:
- also: have you already implemented the "bonus-core-population" for the calculation of the expansion-stability-malus?

Is it intentional that Rome now can get their "special event armies" multiple times? I mean, against the same civ? Playing as Greece, if that should matter. I'm sorry if I missed something in a changelog somewhere, or has it just always been like that?

Jerusalem is quite overpowered in 3000 BC starts now, after the ToS-buff - the free priest equals quite a lot of hammers that early, and also gives GPs. I guess that we mostly try to balance around 600 AD starts, since that's what most people play, but just a mention.

- There's a small spelling error in the Warrior Code civic description btw., it says "citiess" in the end.

I read your thread, and I like the idea, however I modified it a little :)
Industrialism by 1200 was no problem, though.

In fact, I research steel in 950 on SVN 599. It could be even faster if I use liberalism to bulb it.

Do you found Islam? I tried it, but it turned out I didn't like getting Divine Right to cancel out my TGL.
I've been able to do well, but I still can't get the military aspect of your strategy down although this time, I successfully stopped Persia/Babylon from building Mausoleum.
I think I'll reload and forgo Islam and Sankore/Minaret, which I'm pretty sure is slowing me down.

Ah whatever,

Byzantine URV was missing the third entry for Orthodox victory in F8 screen, but I am guessing new commit will fix it?

I'll double check it again as soon as I am on Windows.

Pagan spawns over and over again, even though there's a barb elephant on top of it, which then razes it the next turn, and the cycle continues.

Unrelated, did something change about other leaders not wanting to talk to you during wars? It seems a bit overdone in that case - even after long wars, where you smack them around completely, they still refuse to negotiate for peace. Something seems odds in that regard :)
