Still needs some balance but in general it looks good.

The Germans founded Warschau on their own. Test games indicated that Königsberg, Memel or Krakau were just as likely.

They start with Rifling too.

I really hope you've implemented the Bombard/Cannon split now - both Prussia and America need it.

But those closely packed cities look nasty. Will really drag Prussia down IMO. May need to start with HRE and later switch to Prussia just to ensure that city placements are plausible.

Nice one :)
So, shall this mark the obvious start of v 1.9?
Besides the civics things, IIRC, this is the first accomplished target for v1.9 that you had planned before you started working on v 1.8.. right?

And I hope it doesn't bring a new culture tension for William ;)
In the meantime, between 1500-1700, how about some periodic random coded revolts?
It will drag HRE Power down and allow Ottoman to push further to Europe.. (and balance)

Btw,
You'll add the Moors, iirc, right? ;)
I can't wait to see the Andalusian, Almoravids, Almohads, Islamic French etc :)

Not yet, but that's definitely my next step.

The situation in the screenshot is especially bad because of Warsaw, it shouldn't be a problem with Königsberg or Memel.

Or just add more resources after 1700.
I'm currently considering that to make Berlin a little better on its own, not sure if it's necessary. Another possibility is to allow the HRE Germans to found Berlin so Prussia can flip it on spawn, that might prevent too close cities in its vicinity.

Woo! Been looking forward to the German split for quite a long time, now.
Me too :D

Im guessing that Prussia is getting the current German UU, UB, and UP. Is that right?

Can you tell us anything about the replacements for the HRE? Im guessing Landsknecht and Rathaus?

Exactly, they are the usual HRE and Germany civs from BtS.

The Holy Roman UP doubles their Apostolic Palace votes and their UHV is:
- control the Apostolic Palace and Church of the Holy Sepulchre in 1200 AD
- found Protestantism
- vassalize three European civilizations by 1600 AD

The German conquest goals were rolled into one 1940 goal (excluding Greece) and their new first goal requires to settle 7 great people in Berlin by 1900 AD.

I've also nerfed their UP to reduce upgrade costs by 50% only.

These changes are committed now by the way.

@Leoreth

the new cannon is too strong and a little late in my opinion.14 strength with city raiderII can beat rifleman easily, and rifling is a little late for it,I think cannon weakened to 12 strength and allowed with militaly science or replaceable parts(or both?) may be more fit.

I've already reduced it to strength 12 for the next commit. And Rifling is already a tech level earlier than the usual Steel.

I'm having trouble updating to the newest SVN version. Whenever I choose "SVN Update" I get this message:
jpwkls.jpg

Does anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT: Nevermind, I already fixed it. Cleaning the folder did the trick.

Has someone already completed the German UHV? I've just had my first serious attempt at it and failed the second goal. The first goal is a pain in the ass because it soaks up all the GP you'd need to stay ahead in tech, and I've only managed to get tanks in 1920, which wasn't enough time to build enough units to conquer Britain (which was an actual fortress!) in time. And that was even a lucky game because Turkey collapsed Russia for me.

Would another starting tech be too much? Like Scientific Method?

eh...I think German could be strengthened in many aspects.

First, the starting units is too few.I think it needs 6 riflemen,4 carvalies and 5 cannons at least.

Second, chemistry and Scientific Method should be in starting tech

Third, the second UHV may exclude England, cause German has never controlled England in whole history.

Last,I think the mod rfc civs in abundance could be a reference. When Prussia spawn, some Holy Roman culture will turn into Prussian culture.

Germans were on the throne of England; its monarchs,
so technically, they did have "control" over England.
Just in a weird way that is hard to describe in modern terms.
Just like how Catherine the Great of Russia was actually German.
