Current (SVN) development discussion thread

Maybe I should update my SVN then, if it's starting to cause compatibility problems.

How is calculated the wealth of AI civilization?
I don't understand why i fail UHV: be the richest in XXXX.
My last game with malinese i had more than 5K gold, but still Byzance was the richest civilization. In the diplomacy windows, they were just able to trad 70 gold. where comes from their fortune?

Will it be possible if you build 2 spies and sent them to steal Byz gold? It will be hard and may be caught.

AIs generally don't trade all of the money they have, the less they like you, the less you see, even more so if you don't have anything they want.

But there is an old bug from RFC still plaguing the Malian UHV, where other civs inexplicably have insane amounts of money.

Byzantines will get lots of money from Hagia Sophia + (potentially) Temple of Solomon and Church of Holy Sepulchre and have nothing to spend it on. In 600 AD its bad, but in 3000 BC I can see why they will sometimes have over 10000 gold.

The tibetian UU can enter foreign territory without OB. Archers can't. Is this WAD? (Their UP says that only buhist missionaries can do this).

Playing Babylon Greece dowed me on spawn and than their stack pillaged my territory. In my next try they were peaceful. What triggers this?

Yes. The Tibetan UP enables missionaries to enter foreign territory. The Tibetan UU can do so on its own.

Historically it's not Greece that ends the "native dynasty" in Babylonia, Phoenicia and Egypt though via Alexander the Great they controlled it for brief time.

Achaemenid did.

Ergo, I think the stacks is more appropriate for Persia.. or have another stacks for Persia and this Greece stacks counterbalance it :)

^ Persia already starts with huge stacks. It starts with a SoD of Immortals, and flips 10+ Barb Chariots (on Emperor) on spawn.

Problem is, it tends to wait for a long time to attack Babylon (which is spawns at war with), even when Babylon is lightly defended (with like 2 Bowmen). Although they do usually take Babylon eventually in my games, it's usually after Babylon had collapsed.

How come there isnt a single aluminium resource in china? According to wikipedia, china is BY FAR the largest producer of it in the world, producing 4X the amount of runner-up russia, and more than 25% of world aluminium production. China should definitely havee at least 1 or 2 aluminium resources (Russia has 3).

China also has cow and marble and wine and sheep and nearly everything. Well, since aluminium is a modern resource, it's ok to add it I think.

Does anybody know where (if anywhere) I would be able to edit the starting techs of the Egyptian respawn? They're so ridiculously behind I just can't deal with it anymore. They started with a score of 62 in my last game, and even at the Turkish spawn their army was made up of war chariots and axemen.

Less importantly, is it possible for me to make the Egyptian respawn playable? If so, how?

The starting techs are determined dynamically depending on what their neighbors know. I really don't know why they get so little, they should at least get what the Independents know.

If it would be easily possible to make them playable, I would have already done so. The problem is that respawning civs don't have a window between spawn and flip where you could take control, and if you do after the flip it causes a number of bugs.

How about make Islam Egypt as a playable civ?Like Iran and Italy.

I'm currently leaning more towards disabling their medieval respawn altogether ...

I don't know what's happen between Persia and Babylon 'coz I never observed that but if Persia spawn at war with Babylon, I think they should do that too for Greece & Egypt.

Unrelated : Egypt hire too many mercenaries and I can't find any effective unit to counter-balance the mercenaries Medjay (esp the one with experiences!) since they easily crush my legion (Rome).

Because they're different :D

Persia's respawn is scripted; Egypt respawns randomly due to Arabian instability, just like every other civ that can respawn during the game.
