Custom game settings keep resetting

My custom game settings keep resetting. Just upgraded to win7 64bit. Ever since i did every couple custom games my settings all go back to default chieftain, fractal map so on. Tried with and without Buffy doesn't seem to be related to that mod and it's the only thing I'm running.

Didn't have this issue in X64 or standard XP.

It's gotten rather annoying any suggestions?

i cant lower the graphics settings its stuck on high! everytime i tell it to go to low it says "program must restart to take effect" when i restart. bam everything is back on high. my settings dont save at all, none. even if i make a profile it doesnt save it. is there a way to change some ini files or something to make my graphics lower when i load the game. i got 3.19 beyond the sword.

is the \my games\ folder or the BtS subfolder in it write protected?

thanks for the post ori, but i just figured it out right now!!! all i did was go to my firaxis folder then into civ IV folder, and i changed everything to windows xp (sp3) compatibility and i gave it administrator properties. i did that with all the pit boss exe's and the civ exes. this include civ IV exe and pitboss exe the warlords exe and pitboss exe, and the beyond the sword exe and pitboss exe. i changed my settings made a new profile and everything !!!!! now i can play my next war mod with my marathon game legnth on the biggest map settings muhahahaa tremble before me !!!
