Dacubz145 Buildings Art

Updated Chrysler Building to version 2. Cleaned it up and reduced file size from 200kb to 63kb.

@Platy, I'm pretty sure you subscribe to this thread. I will be doing this for many of my wonders, as I am more experienced now I can create my buildings better. I will do the wonders you have done with your python first, so if you please you can upload much smaller versions

Maybe... :D
Already cleared my PC of all standalones...

I can create buildings from scratch and uv map them...instead of just converting it from google warehouse

So before, for example the AON tower, I would have one mesh have the side of the building on it, and another with the roof, and the roof would just be on top of the building. Now that I know how to uv map and everything, I delete the roof, and just map it so the roof of the first map looks right.

Nice, great to see more building nifs getting made  If u get the chance do you think you could try your hand at any of these modern or futuristic ones from GW? :king::scan:

I got a long list of things to art wise, so it will be a bit untill I can get to one of these

If you find any models on the web of some free 3ds models (ex website :http://tf3dm.com/) I can convert those very quickly, and can get any of those done easier, otherwise it might be a bit

But I will eventually be able to get to making or converting a couple. If you could possibly pick the one you want the most, and when I get time I will start on that one (as when I get a list of 20 i am not sure which one to start of with). a 2d image of what your looking for helps as well

Great, thanks a lot dacubz! :scan::cool::worship:

There's a real scarcity of good futuristic or modern buildings compared to all those from earlier eras, so I'm basically open to any cool-looking industrial or scientific facility and could use a variety of them. So if you find anything that meets that description & looks easy/fun to import, go ahead whenever you get the chance, and I and others will definitely find a good use for it. :assimilate::goodjob: From those above maybe the Tron City and Cube would be my favorites, since they look like they might be fairly simple geometrically to import if the existing textures can be saved, and could be used in my space colonization mod as well as a future mod set purely in Cyberspace :scan::king:

There's some good stuff on that tf3dm site.. is it really easy to convert any of the models there, or more just the simple/geometric ones? I guess my favorites from there would be the reactor and the chronosphere, some other good possibilities are below.

All models are 100% easy to convert from 3ds. Download it, import into Nifskope, save as nif. Import into blender, export back to nif and its ready to go, the problem is, as you were saying, that the models are sort of very detailed, so the simple ones are much easier. Something like the chronosphere I can tell just by looking at it, when i convert it, the models going to be about 1mb big, and I never want a building above 100kb, usually 50kb.

Thats when the work comes in and you have to simplify it by removing details, but many of the things you posted look very detailed and it would be hard to convert to a decent size, lemme take a closer look at them and see if any will be nice in cIV

EDIT: Also I can only convert them if they are in .3ds, many of those models only come in obj

Also I already converted the transmission tower you listed. It is under new broadcast tower. Would you like the building to go along with that?

cool, thanks again. I missed that transmission tower you converted, that is a badass antenna  Sure, if it's easy to extract the building separately it looks like it would work well as an industrial facility too.

I actually don't care much at all about the file sizes unless they're truly huge; the bigger buildings would be very rare like Wonders and not cause much burden on viewing the map. (but if they'd be a pain to convert at any size thats another thing.)

In Civ4Colonization modding, because the player builds and upgrade buildings making a wide variety of products, there is a need to have "sets" of buildings that represent progressive stages of development (eg the buildings for Oil production might be a small Oil Derrick, then a larger Oil Refinery, then finally a huge Petrochemical Complex). I'm a relative newbie at nifskope but I have been able to get a few good "sets" by finding large building nifs that have multiple NiTriStrips nodes for separate sub-modules of the building, then progressively deleting some of these nodes for the smaller building versions. So if you come across anything like that, those would be really ideal for this kind of modding.

I see you have done a lot of nice uploads recently. It's a pity that my mod makes problems at the moment, so I cannot include them et. But good work!

Sorry Orlanth, best thing I could come up with in a short amount of time is the alien skyscraper, when I find more modding time and I have less projects on my hand I will work on converting some more futuristic items
No sweat, & thanks for working on em :goodjob: I have just started work on a big upgrade of the 2071 mod with help from Nightingale and Kailric which will likely be a long process, so any new buildings done by the year 2070 will have time to make it in! :old::lol:

BTW thanks again for the Modern Excavation, Kathy. It will be perfect to excavate some mysterious alien ruins :scan: Do you have any other modern building nifs in the works?

Thank you, orlanth. At the moment, there is nothing I am working at, because of some troubles with my mod. In late game, it crashes about three times per turn, and before I add anything, I want to reduce this crashs.
As this is Dacubz145's tread, further questions about my objects would better be posted in my graphics tread.

I tried to fix it, but with no luck; the Leaning Tower of Pisa graphic simply stays invisible. Do more people have this problem or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks a lot; I had already tried some really large scales before, but just didn't think of trying the opposite before!

In case this could help someone:
I recommand fScale 0,08 and fInterfaceScale 0,35
