DarthNES II - Superpowers

Mexico would like to know why there is a hammer and sickle above their nuke, and wonders if they are saying the Soviets are back in power.

Mexican pigdog American lackeys continue to be ignorant of Russian politics.
Spoiler :
It's intensely difficult to find pictures of Russian military parades that aren't from the Cold War era. It doesn't mean anything.

That must be why Vietnam congratulated an imperialist nation currently fighting a war of expansion...

Actually, even in modern Russia, old Soviet icons are used liberally during the 9 May Victory Parade. It was the Soviet Union that beat the Germans after all. In fact, the other picture I was going to use was the 65th anniversary parade from last year, but I scraped it because "2010" was in huge numbers in the background.

Downey Debt Plan Passes Through Parliament

Prime Minister Richard Downey submitted to Parliament a plan to pay off the governments entire debt in a matter of 5 months. This comes as a shock to many deficit hawks, who labeled Downey as a "big spending party boy" after the debt nearly maxed out just a few months ago. It has been steadily falling since then, and was already on track to be paid off in just a couple years. The bill mainly increases the surplus enjoyed by the Austral Union even more.

The bill is called the Debt and Budget Act of 2025 and reworks the next 5 months budgets, mainly trimming planned defense projects, and cutting technology funding, but also nixes a couple domestic projects that have not already begun, with the reasoning that they will be put off until an economic downturn. The bill also plans to raise tax revenue by 7%, with an increase in the inheratance and business tax, and implemints a small carbon tax for industrial businesses.

The bill easily passed through the lower 800 seat General Assembly with a 527-268-5 vote in favor, with votes being labeled as yes/no/abstain, and but had a harder time in the upper 500 seat House of Union, passing with a 274-228-6 vote. The bill goes into full effect starting June 3rd, which is the start of next months budget, and projects the elimination of debt sometime in mid-October.

Communist Vietnam Shows True Colors!

The Communist Vietnamise have shown ther true imperialist intentions with their invasion of Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar, as well as their funding of rebels in the Phillipines, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brazil. The Government has issued a statement condemning Vietnams actions and pledging support for our allies Japan and Indonesia.

Indonesia and Japan launched preemptive strikes agianst Vietnam's meager navy, suspecting an invasion to come soon. These strikes destroyed all of Vietnams navy, and should weaken the state enough that they are of no threat to the Austral Union or her allies for some time, and that means that intervention is unlikely, but not ruled out entirely. Massive anti-communist protests are being staged all across the nation as the people demand that Vietnam be punished for their actions.

Fine, we submit. Just make it stop!

@Tecknojock - Vietnam's stats are fixed, thanks for pointing that out. Also, I'd say repairing that carrier would cost 2c, but the fleet needs to be moved to a larger port to do it (same kind of port needed to build large ships).

Once again, Vietnam demands an apology and reparations from Indonesia for this unprovoked attack against our navy.

Armenia crushed, Azerbaijan Surrenders!
In a historic moment, Russian ambassadors were delivered a message of unconditional surrender from the invalid Azerbaijani government this week, following the demonstrably successful campaign waged against that nation and its neighbor Armenia. President Yilenekov was pleased to welcome former citizens of Azerbaijan and Armenia back into the Russian family. The business of establishing regional government can now be properly begun, and troops can be withdrawn, as all across Russia people celebrate the return of the rest of the Caucasus territory to the fold. Reporters were not able to reach any Armenian or Azerbaijani sources for comment, but aides of Yilenekov were happy to inform us that the people of Azerbaijan and Armenia are overjoyed to rejoin the Russian nation. Members of the invalid and defunct Armenian and Azerbaijani governments are now in the custody of this nation's glorious and indomitable armed forces, and will be tried for crimes against humanity in St. Petersburg. Yet again, it is a glorious day to be Russian.

The Most Powerful Nation on Earth
Only hours on the heels of the defeat of the invalid Armenian government's armed forces, this glorious Federation's government announced that Russian military scientists were the first to rediscover the secrets of the atom. President Yilenekov oversaw a massive military parade through the streets of Moscow, an announcement to the world of the awesome and terrible power of the Russian nation. Now there shall be no man on Earth who can question the Russian people, for our words are now backed by nuclear weapons. Interviews with Russian citizens yielded the following quotes, from Sergei Dzensk of Moscow "I am extremely proud of my nation, and proud to be a citizen of it. If I wasn't I'd be a dirty foreign pigdog!" and Anya Kalykoff of St. Petersburg "I haven't been this happy since Minsk fell. President Yilenekov is a geopolitical-military genius ubermensch!" though no military officials were available for comment, we are sure they would agree that this is a time for celebration. Mathematicians in the employ of this great news outlet promise that foreign pigdogs everywhere are quaking in their boots with an intensity greater than that of last month's by a significant magnitude. Glory to Mother Russia, her people, her soldiers, and her spirit of national pride and unmatched strength!

War in the Balkans!
Forces under the command of the European Federation assaulted the former nations of Yugoslavia in a move of unchecked and unprovoked aggression by European pigdog foreigners on the peace-loving people of the Balkan nations. Entire townships have been reduced to rubble in a campaign of violence and destruction not seen in decades. All across the Balkans civilians flee from the terrible attacks by the Europeans on their nations. With no apparent reason for the conflict, the people of these battered and tired nations have seemingly nowhere to look for why their lives have been destroyed by this terrible and unnecessary war. Political analyst Aleksei Balakirev had this to say when asked about the potential geopolitical reasoning for this seemingly-unreasonable war "The European Federation's leader eats babies. It's been proven. Look, when you eat babies you don't really need reasons to do things, you just do them. As for why he eats babies, I can only suppose that it's a symptom of his need to express his rage for his poor relationship with his parents." We can only thank Doctor Balakirev for his learned and erudite explanation for the actions of the European Federation.

The Rise of Communism in South-East Asia, South America
Since the beginning of the month, reports have been coming in from Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Brazil of the rise of various communist and socialist movements. In the matter of the aforementioned south-east Asian nations, these movements appeared to have been spurred on by the efforts of the Vietnamese, who have moved dramatically to enforce their particular brand of communist ideology in the region. The apparent collapse of these nations governments has seen their annexation by the Vietnamese, who have seized land in Myanmar. Brazilian communists have called for the resignation of the president, and have seen the response of armed police. Disorder has swept through the Brazilian nation, as chaos and anarchy has become the norm throughout much of the country. With the evidently-ineffectual current Brazilian regime struggling to contain the popular discontent, it appears that Brazil may have already fallen to the communist grip. As to the reasons why, who can fathom the actions of silly foreigner non-Russians?

Pacific Naval Debacle
In a turn of events that many can only describe as confusing, Japanese, Indonesian and Vietnamese ships and planes have been engaged for the past few days in a game of naval chicken that may lead to outright war between the nations. What can be deciphered is that apparently Indonesian ships sought out and attempted to attack a Vietnamese fleet within range of Japanese operations in the Philippines, with Indonesian scouter planes coming under assault through some means by the Japanese, and general disarray on all sides, with finally actual fighting between the Indonesian and Vietnamese fleets. The President, or any governmental officials, refused to comment, and many have concluded that this is why the Pacific Fleet doesn't get out anymore.

Please, by all means, continue pretending that great and wise Russia is the only nation that has noted your habitual need to act as singular and eternal global hegemon. At this point we only maintain an embassy in Washington for our own amusement.

To the Russians
If no other nation is willing to look at the globe as a whole instead of as regions, then we are alone as the only nation willing to be a global, and not a regional, superpower. Until other nations step up and began persuing interesting, global, diplomacy, all talk is nothing.

The Russians go Nuclear
450x232-alg_ballistic-missle-parade.jpg

Russian military parade showing off their new weapons
Following an international announcement by Russian President Mikhail Yilenekov Russia has officially rejoined the so called "Nuclear Club" the first nation to do so. Immediately upon receiving news of Russia's completion of it's Nuclear Weapons Program, Japanese Prime Minister Akihito Tankuzumi sent Yilenekov a warm congratulation calling this a "Great day for Russia" and Tankuzumi expressed that he was glad Russia was the first nation rather than "imperialists" in America or Mexico. Many Japanese citizens also felt that this was a great achievement for Russia, though some also fear that the once Nuclear Free (and relatively peaceful) world may change as they knew it.. But Tankuzumi assured the populace that Russian and Japanese relations were at their highest in over 50 years, and there is no fear of war between the two Asian Powers.

Japanese Armor entering Davao unopposed.
The Japanese-Filipino war which has entered it's Third Month may be coming to a close soon. Japanese Armies have overwhelmed their Filipino counterparts on The islands of Mindanao and Samar which been reportedly cleared of Filipino resistance. Earlier this month the Filipino city of Davao had fallen to Japanese Armored brigades. This caused a massive morale drop for The Filipino Troops, while also causing a massive boost for the Japanese with massive military parades and celebrations being held all throughout the Japanese home islands. Prime Minister Akihito Tankzumi commented on the overwhelming Japanese victories saying that "The Filipino crime committed against the Japanese Destroyer JDS Ako will be avenged" This comment further stimulated massive celebrations as many citizens viewed the war as nearing it's end.
