Decline of the History Channel

Discovery was cool when I was a little kid. Or maybe I'm thinking of TLC, back when those letters actually stood for something.

What, you aren't a Toddlers & Tiaras fan? :p

Oh, vote for worse show on the History Channel. Pawn Stars. I'm not sure how it evenly remotely relates to history. THat and "Ice Road Truckers".

Makes about as much sense as the Scifi channel having some wrasslin'. The TVTropes link is spot on.

I remember the good old days when Disney Channel didn't have commercial interruptions during a show, and was nothing but cartoons.

Of course, that was before I learned Disney was evil. :p

Sometimes good shows slip through the cracks occasionaly. Once I saw a rather interesting show on the Soviet Space program (that basicaly pillaged the PBS show Astrospies and added in some 'prototype' Soviet superweapons) sandwiched between Hitler and Stupic Stuff.

Toddlers & Tiaras is disgusting and needs to be taken off the air.

I just found out that his name is Giorgio Tsoukalos. Sounds greek...

Anyway the history channel will have been long forgotten but this image will live on forever:

Hm, he is greek indeed... wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giorgio_A._Tsoukalos

A show about Ancient Aliens -- what a perfect way for the Centauri to initiate first contact.

History Channel should change its name to Alternate History Channel.
But seriously, it is quite pathetic, I remember seeing 36 hours straight on my cable guide thing of just Pawn Stars. I dont know about you, but the guy typing this into his computer fails to see what connection that has with history.

Nah, More like the Hysteria Channel.

Nah, man, I just learned about how the Pyramids were actually an ancient power plant, and like they poured a bunch of dilute HCl down into the queen's chamber where it reacted to form H2 and salt, then the H2 floats up the grand gallery to the upper chamber which housed some kind of reactor-thing-a-ma-jig that burned the H2 and converted it to microwaves, which are then beamed to space and then back down on other solid granite obelisks. That's why they are made out of one block, 'cuz then it's like a crystal, dude! :smoke: :egypt: :smoke:

Also, this series is a total acid trip. The talking head says this power plant could run non-stop for decades or hundreds of years... but I am forced to wonder where the ancient Egyptians were producing this much HCl.

Netflix just picked it up.

I'm learning the ancient Egyptians might have been aerospace engineers!

I'm learning that Tesla ripped off obelisks as a source of his craziest idea, harnessing the power of water wheels to obelisk to obelisk atmospheric transmission of power!

:smoke: :smoke: pass

edit: If the ancients made cool things out of stone to mark for posterity that the aliens were here, why didn't they make it out of graphite carbon nanotubes instead?

Think of it as an extreme version of North Korea. The aliens were the "elites" hogging all the good stuff, while the ancients were the "average citizens"(?) and had to make do with whatever the aliens gave them.

At least, that's if I understand it correctly..... :smoke:
