Deity Brennus of the Mongol Empire

@ yyeah :

Fair enough, those are all valid reasons :)

Spoiler :
Unrestricted leaders can make it a little harder to know who we're actually playing with and what starting techs we have.
I made a similar mistake when I revolted to Slavery, with capital size 4 and 40/100 hammers into a settler, ready to whip... (2nd settler, for city 3)
... pressed "end turn" and noticed I now had 60H into the settler... burp !
So we are Spiritual, right ?

I got easy on myself, though, and indulged with a reload...

Ha..I did the same thing BiC

Spoiler :
Should I switch to slavery now or wait until after the settler pops? durp!

Can't really play deity so I thought I might shadow this game.

Decided to settle in place, and started working the hill pigs at pop 2 to get the first warrior out faster. Next worker turn after that was to road the forest 1E of the corn, rather than farm it first, since it looked like I would have to pass through that tile often.

Spoiler :
After building 2 warriors, my capital was pop 5 and I started the settler. Barb pressure was pretty high, but I decided I could just spawn bust the West and hold out until I connected the horses.

At this point I decided I need to stop and think about the next move. My scout is currently moving to spawn bust the East, and I'm planning on where to plant my third city.
sDLWWPE.jpg

I marked the two city locations I'm thinking of first. I'm currently leaning towards Red, as I need a source of commerce until i can chop and cottage the capital (and probably a library or 2).

White tile allows me to share tiles with the capital and get the cows up earlier for the gold city, but I haven't scouted enough to see if there are other good tiles for the wheat city later on. It should give a bit of a production boost compared to the gold tile.

Currently leaning on gold first than elephant.

BW will be done in 1 turn, and I'm not quite sure if I should go Pottery for some cottages and discounted Writing, or straight up Writing for faster libraries and specialists to power my early economy (skipping pottery to work on trade tech for alpha). This seems like a strong early game for specialists, as both the horse city and the capital should have the production and food to quickly build libraries and support the two scientists.

Same thing here guys :).
Spoiler :

I was thinking about 3 turns how and when to switch in to rep cast and then like press F3 and ... wait ... wait wait a minute 0 turns :eek2:
Dont forget to bulid some Monuments ;)

End of war 900AD

Falled behind in tech but that was something predictable, but luckly iam not that much behind.
Going for Pacifism Bismark doesnt have it and i need to run Pacifism for couple turns and 1-2 bulb Edu.
Make some trades and continue stomping Hammy with Engi ... yea thats the plan.

ikotomi - copy the BBCode field and paste it directly in..

oh.....I don't think I built a single monument!

Spoiler :
happiness was never an issue though

wow..the tech pace in

Spoiler :
your game, yy, is so much slower than in my game.

@ ikotomi
Spoiler :

Why you are bulding settler at S5 ? not better whip at 6 ?
Allso barbs dont let you settle this gold spot you need chariot. ( they can spawn any time now ).
Not better to.. if you want that settler fast. bulid worker now, then slowbulid chartion at s6 whip settler in to chariot and another chariot ?.
You need at least 2.

Something like this depends ...when you will have horses connected.

@ lymond
Spoiler :

Yea tech peace is rly slow, it shows up how war slows ais too.
In my game basicly everybody was at war with everyboy execpt Peter.
Even better becouse Hindu was fighting with each other The Mongol Empire + my buddy Bismark vs Hatty + Darius basicly.
And Hammy vs RII.
Then The Mongol Empire vs Hammy and Bismark vs Darius+ Hatty.
They dont trade too much.

yy

Spoiler :
yep..i figured as much. My game was rather peaceful until I started things. Probably should have done some diplo maneuvers early out to shake things up.

Hatty did go fist rather early but dropped it after I begged ..so she was certainly targeting me, which made sense. Haven't figured out who she is..

yep..trading wasn't that great in my game either..although certainly did a bit. Problem was the big techers - Hatty and Darius - were same religion.

@yyeah
Spoiler :
I played the next few turns after that screenshot, and you're right the barbarians are no joke. Fast building the second settler was just me underestimating deity barbs. I barely survived, and needed to sacrifice my scout to slow down the barbs invading my capital. I probably should have started a third warrior, rather than relying on a scout and two warriors to spawn bust.

Spoiler :
Survived the early barbs, and whipped a settler and another chariot into libraries in horse city and capital the turn writing completes.

Not quite sure what to tech from here. I'll want HBR eventually, but I'm probably too late for a keshik rush. Maybe Maths first then HBR, to try to trade for alpha.

Spoiler :
Edit* Well, I tried. Hammurabi was already plotting before I settled my 3rd city, and I fought his first stack with chariots, but couldn't deal with spearmen after that. I was able to trade for archery with HBR to Hatty, but it wasn't enough to deal with his next wave of units.

@ ikotomi
Spoiler :

Dont worry, i dubt that player who doesnt play on diety can handle this 1.
But :goodjob: that you gave it a try !.

Guy Fawkes has born  i think that this is moust desire :gp: right now, regardless that i dont have academy in my Capitol.

We got tech lead ! :band:
Is it even possible to win Lib in 1200AD on Deity ? :hmm:
With full :science: i can be there in 7T but dont know is it worth it ... though call.
Hammy is close to MS and Steel so stomping him with Trebs isnt possible i think.
Though call allso what tech path to choose.
But 1st of all lets try Lib maybe i can steal Machinery -> Guilds -> Banking and Lib Eco ?
That would be awsome. Buti dont think thats possible i would have to steal without discount witch isnt optimal :hmm:.
Spoiler :
techraceJ_snwhsep.jpg

Edit.
Allright so we are going like this :science: + Great Scientiest everywhere expect places where i have to bulid Universities for Oxford.
Capitol unfortunatly have to bulid 3-4 Spies.

Wanted to Lib Chemistry but didnt manage to make good trades for Edu didnt want to give it away, but when Peter and bismark started to reserching it i just had to do it... Edu for Machinery Lit and Drama only + some :gold:. But i got Lib ->PP.
Dont know how much i can steal from Darius hope for Egi -> Gunpowder ->Chemistry maybe selftech Guilds and steal Banking too :hmm:.

From importand things Darius vassaled Hammy, could stop it with Lib but... dont know why ididnt do it.

But anyway aim going for a kill now.

gg yyeah :)

Spoiler :
Is it a religious diplo win ?
I wouldn't call it cheese when you've got the largest number of cities. It sure is, however, the easy path to victory.

Me, 2 turns after last update :
Spoiler :
I got DoWed by Hammurabi, who razed my North-Eastern city.
I may try to turn the tide but the situation looks grim without either metal or archery. Only Chariots to defend is eeek !

@ BornInCantaloup
Spoiler :

Yes that was religious win.

I dont know it was easiest path to win this map, maybe way how did i played map made this path easy but iam not a shame of it. Survived all this DoW even manage to get back in tech race after all.

And yea now you can see why i did this questionable decisions like bulb math self tech hunting and archery, i just didnt want to loose becouse of early DoW. I say even more i didnt want to only defend myself.
I had a bit luck becouse Bud spred to my Copper city so i had free border pop there and manage to hook metal up.
But that was point of a game when i allrdy had math and Keshiks so i could defend myself anyway.
There are situations when ai Dow you and nothing you can do about it but here i just pick up fight. I sacreficed my economy, i had no eco this game realy like no at all.
until i dont know 1000AD . I just decided to go for experimental warfere and lets c what happends...

Edit.
Spoiler :

Theres allso 1 more thing why i did this type of vic.
To go full conquest i should probably found corps, this wasnt a problem beocuse luckly GE born with like 11% odds and getting GM is allways ezy.
But i just didnt have :strength: to micro every single city every single turn, settle or conquer new world etc etc.
So maybe beocuse of that this was easiest way to win this map for me or maybe less time consuming.
iam palying for fun if i dont have fun in doing certein things i just dont do it ;). Thankfully this isnt HoF :D

Edit.2
Spoiler :

I only feel sory beocuse i didnt fully use power of GG's, and yea there was some people who i wanted to become GG's as well.
Yea i feel bad beocuse of this.
But i have an idea for next game ;).

Question
Is there any unit witch can be upgraded to Paratrooper or Navy Seal? warriors ?

@ yyeah & the techs :

Spoiler :
Yes, I agree over your general "safety concern".
It's clear from pretty early that Hammurabi is Tokugawa and that, if only that, should ring an alarm bell.

I set research to Aesthetics to trade for Alpha and that was definitely a punt. I didn't think about it enough.
Researching HBR, as you did, was a much safer option / much better option with Keshiks and no marble.
Also my mistake to ignore the fist and focus only on expansion.

@ Apostolic Palace victory :
All I meant is that it allows to end the game at the earliest.
You fought to establish control over your continent, so this isn't a cheesy victory to me. You just cut it short, compared with other options.

Spoiler :
Unrestricted Leaders swaps personalities too? I thought I was going crazy not remembering somehow that Hammy doesn't open borders at cautious!

@ ikotomi

Spoiler :
Settings are Unrestriced Leaders and Random Personalities.

Spoiler :
A nice combo. Played this mildly spoilered.

With the combo I decided I want to rush even though this is deity. Expanded to a compact 4 city empire and built chariots while waiting for keshiks. There were some barb cities to farm xp and expand with.

Originally I considered going for Hatty as she was becoming so big and had nice commerce land, but she seemed too dangerous. Instead I went for India, who managed to bribe Hammy/england in. My rush went well until the cap, where it stalled and I decided to pick up a tech (aesth) deal with Hammy and go back in strenght. Bad decision. Even though I got peace with England, when I dowed again on India, India vassaled to Dutch. Luckily Eng and Dutch had closed borders so the war was killing scouts and wandering units. I finished India and got very lucky with wonders: Mids, Colossus and Temple of Artemis. Spi with Mids is very nice.

@ sinimusta
Spoiler :

Nice game :goodjob:.
Yea combo is nice thats why allso went for Keshiks, even though this map is v good for Lib race and go with boosted Cuirs.
15 cities and your economy is in a preety good shape after this huge rush, 300AD and you reserching Paper in 8T ... Mids and Rep + caste with so many cities is powerful.
Maybe even you can Lib MT and finish them off
Only this "sandwitch" can be a little bit anoying but should be a big problem.

Spoiler :
Yeah, my economy was in nice shape considering the rushing and the extra war with England. From there I went for nationalism first (I got a GE, which I could use to ensure getting Taj). With Taj GA libbing Mil trad was possible.

Meanwhile Dutch invaded Russia through my lands, I considered joining. However Russia had strong defenses and Dutch weren't getting anywhere, I decided to go for easier America first. That was a fast war and capitulation. After that I managed to kill Russian stack when they were recapturing their city from Dutch. After that capping Russia wasn't too hard.

Carthage was a bit harder as it meant two front war. I thought killing England first would be best, managed to do that in 5 turns. At the same time I had to defend against Carthage, so I had to keep a lot of troops there. Anyway, thank to police state I had already a huge army. Carthage having airships and cuirassiers himself was a bit problematic though.

With cavalry I then finished the last guy.

Fun game! Although it did kind of destroy my normal sleep cycle. :)
