This is where i am after Navigation. I exactly did what EEE described for tech pace and gs use. I forgot to time a gr. artist and a gs so i could be in ga right now.

Policies are 4 in Tradition(no wonder bonus and range bonus) then 3 left side of honor. I hesitated a lot between Commerce and Honor. I think that Honor is better here only because of Attila's capital. I need indirect fire near the end for at least 5 frigates(plus +1 range). 50% exp boost will help getting this insane promo in time.

I conquered some Rome's cities + capital with galleas. Then England DoWed me. I rush bought enough galleas to resist to her and made peace some turns later. I tought that i should stay at war and get xp but it turned to my advantage later when Russia DoWed(again!) Liz so their units are at the opposite of where i'm going.

France seems a huge beast here and have a lot of units. His tech rate is insane and fortunately he teched toward chemistry before Navigation. I only have 6 frigates at his gate but...they all have +1 range :goodjob: They will be untouchable :ninja:

I bought 3 iron deposits to Ghengis, my full friendly pal since the beginning who buy everything at a high price. In some turns i will probably be able to ally a 6 iron tile cs too. I'm teching towards Steel to build an armory or 2 later.

Just finished domination victory turn 248.

I went for a tech based 4 city tradition opening, building libraries as the first building in new cities. I settled 3 on my main island and one to the south near the gems and copper. Got the National college around turn 85, which is ok for 4 cities. I saved up and rush bought universities in 3 out of 4 cities about turn 100.

After that I went for a pretty typical aesthetics, then rationalism and order.

Ghengis took a few early city states and then declared war on me just as I was researching galleass tech. I built a bunch of them and didn't have too much trouble fending him off. I liberated singapore and took another of his cities while beelining frigates. I got frigates and taking the capital was too easy.

Meanwhile I made friends with Russia and Greece and signed research agreements. Rome was settling cities all over my area so I targeted him next. Ceasar was a pushover, I took the 4-5 cities he'd settled on the islands around me and then took the capital before getting peace.

France was starting to runaway so I targeted them next. The battle with the French wasn't too hard. Managed to take all the French cities on their main island plus a couple on the way over and then sued for peace.

I got battleships around this time and it was just a matter of mopping the rest of them up. None of them posed any real threat to an armada of battleships with logistics and range.

I was originally planning to go for culture, but I got beaten to both Oracle and Chichen Itza. Oracle went around turn 65, the earliest I've seen it go.

Since my post above France offered me peace. Then I paid France to war with Rome. That turned into a serious war. Then I paid Greece to war with Khan. So I've taken Khan's capital but I don't see how I'm going to get to the other 6 capitals!

Reason why my pop / food isn't high is due to a need to balance happiness, or the running out of it. The other civs don't have luxuries to trade, except for maybe one. So I take the cash. And the food I do have I don't work since I'm too busy building boats for survival. I don't see how it can be any other way. Now that I have Karakorum, maybe with the truffles I'll be able to grow some...

I chose the same policies as Wargizmo as so many CSs are alive in my game and Khan could not capture any of them :crazyeye:

so after Rome and London, I Dowed Russia who was still my friend. but i bribed her to attack her friend Greece before I invaded her so the diplomatic hit with other AIs was not too big. Russia has Great Lighthouse so it compensate for the loss that I didnt go commerce for ship speed.

After Russia I thought I should go attack Attila then Alexander then Khan and finally surprise attack Napolean to finish the game.

Turn 180 I run into the same problem as Tabarnak is preparing for: Attila's well hidden capital. only 1 or 2 range-three frigates can hit his capital, but I have to force my way in and may expect heavy losses. I have 10+ frigates so maybe I can replace the damaged ships quickly and put an end to attila. France is friendly but his deal offer is getting worse and worse. Although I bribed him to war other 4 civs at the same time he may still DoW me if i lost too many ships.

I think you have too many happiness. you should be able to sell 1 more lux and buy universities asap and use hammers on ships.

Also the 6 horses are not improved so you lost at least two rounds of 270g and 2 irons for another 90g.

At least 1 worker for each city 4 city should have 5 workers.

The hill city and capital got walls which are not needed. just a few things i observe from your screenshot. so things tend to snowball after that.

I don't believe this map will see a victory other than domination. You're kidding right, about the wonders? I haven't even tried to build a Wonder in this Deity  madness.

To be honest I think it's a pretty good map for diplomacy. With so many war mongers you can easily be the least hated and get everyone's vote.

I haven't had the time to try any of these Deity challenges since the first one, but am enjoying reading about them. What do you all think about trying a deity OCC domination game? Would maybe be the ultimate challenge (if it is even feasible). I'm thinking one of the "religious" civs so that you can get an early religion for the Holy Warriors belief. And it would have to be a good growth and production start to even have a chance.

Now on turn 140. A lot of things happened, i captured France easily despite his large amount of units. Meanwhile i DoWed England and took York for a heal base in preparation of London. I sold Paris to Greece because France would have recaptured that city and i didn't have time to kill units around there. My highly promoted armada is now swimming for Karakorum with a pit stop near my main land.

The Great Lighthouse was sitting into London :king: Made a loop around England's land to reach Moscow. Karakorum felt easily too. Sold that city to Attila. Now it's time to get Athens and finally reach Level 4 promos and Moscow with the 2nd generation of ships.

You can really butcher the trade system with Maoi statues. Sell your coastal luxuries to civs with a ton of gold sitting around by trading your gpt or strategics + lux for all their gold then build a Moai on top of it to 'cancel' the deal.

They seem to have a small failsafe for it in that if you don't fully complete building the moai statue before rebuilding the luxury it will leave the lux intact while your worker resumes the Moai to completion.

Rediculous in the late game when civs are sitting on thousands of gold.

You can also self-pillage resources with Forts, if I remember correctly. The Hall of Fame and Game of the Month ban that as exploitative, along with a few related things that are not quite as sleazy. The Deity Challenge has no official rules, but the spirit of the challenge is to win without "cheese," and that would definitely count. :D

I haven't played previous deity challenges (I didn't even know we had something like these until recently) but this one looked really tempting. Not usual pangea artillery rush or sci race.

I basically did what EEE_boy and Tabarnak did - went for NC, beeline for compass except iron working, and beeline for navigation.

Started with tradition 3 city opening. Bought one settler and hard built one. Settled near mt. sinai and near citrus NW of cap.

I got compass at t82 and after that all cities went all-in for galleass. I got 5-6 trireme before that and built heroic epic at cap. Rushed Rome after getting 4-5 galleass and took cap at t100. I went for Rome first as 1. I paid France to attack Rome before so he was weak, 2. he was hostile to me for no reason, 3. Rome had the Great Lighthouse!

Got culture CS allies and many CS friends. Culture CS definitely did help. Opened commerce at t89 (even without any culture buildings) after finishing tradition. Education at t100 and bought uni at cap (could not afford another uni). Got GS at t117 and bulbed him immediately to pop up navigation (it was 3 turns to go anyway)

I have 10 irons and bought 3 from other civs - still, not enough iron and not enough gold to upgrade all of them. Will wipe out France army so that I can get a good peace deal and don't need to worry about France attacking me back later when my frigates were off for the next targets.

I went too ''rapidly'' through capitals and forgot how silly is the AI when you give them cities. Attila was the last one but no luck. Of course, with more planning(i.e. keeping capitals and get peace deal), it takes more time but it's safier.

Maybe i will replay the game back to France and burn him even more to keep his cap but i will probably need 10 more turns.

Commerce is superior to Honor. I couldn't take indirect fire for my L4 promos. Heal outside territory is interesting but that was too late to make it worth. +1 range is all what you need.

If you go all in and neglect science you need to finish them off with frigates. Glad that the GLH was in Rome. This makes things much easier. Good luck!

Don't frigates come with indirect fire? I was firing over mountains and things with the range upgrade. Also I think the logistics upgrade is better to go for first anyway since it lets you move after shooting

No only battleship has indirect fire. (frigates can't take indirect fire?)

Logistics is far better but late. it needs to be in the 4th promotion while range is the 3rd promotion. I gave all range promotion first so they have better survival rate.

Ahh that explains it, I took out the huns quite late so I had battleships by then.
