Welcome to Game 6 of Deity Challenge!

We all know that Deity water maps are much easier than Pangaea/Continents. So, in an effort to make an archipelago game more challenging i hand picked most expansive, bloodthirsty and treacherous opponents (in my experience) we have in Civilization 5.

Here are your opponents:

Attila, the Huns
Elizabeth, England
Catherine, Russia
Augustus Caesar, Rome
Alexander, Greece
Napoleon, France
Genghis Khan, Mogolia.

Settings: Standard, Standard, Archipelago. All DLC's included.

Here is the starting position:

Enjoy, and leave feedback :).

Attila is always a teddy bear when I meet him. As long as he is not my neighbor, he is easy to befriend. Too bad you cant force nuclear Gandhi. he he

I am going to try soemthing different. I am going to research pottery, but then mining in hopes I can pop a level 2 tech.

its always tempting for me to settle on the marble for the wonder bonus, haha. not sure what ill do. ive gotta finish the sweden loss before i look at it.

Update turn 99.

Spoiler :
That was a shocking surprise, when Augustus settled his city near faith wonder on turn 30. Completely changed direction of my game from then on.

I settled 2 more cities and started preparing for early war (3 archers, 2 triremes, 2 Maoris). On top of that i neglected everything (except construction) in the bottom part of the tree and started the long beeline to Galleases.

During that time i was beaten by 1 turn to Oracle (grrr..) and finished NC on turn 79 after that.

Compass was finished on turn 90 and i instantly rushed 3 Galleases (with barracks already in place), so i hope i'll get logistics soon .. :mischief:

Augustus looked like he could start an invasion anytime starting from turn 50. His Ballistas (i spotted 6) and warriors/archers were running all over the place, jumping in and out of the water and it didn't look like he is "just passing through the area".

Anyway, i DoW'ed him on turn 98. Let's see if i'll succeed in this holy war for controlling Sinai. Had to lie about "just passing through the area", guess that's gonna bite me later on..

I guess cultural/science/time/diplo wins are out of the picture with that kind of start..

I also see a lot of Monglian triremes to my north, warriors and archers too. We have DoF by the way. Not like that's gonna stop him though.. Gonna be hot :D.

Policy path - full tradition.

haha, off to a lovely start. screenies say it all.

Spoiler :
ive only met Rome so far. took a worker from Ragusa and he denounced me and labeled me a warmonger the next turn. he hadnt met Ragusa yet. this should be fun. i forgot they could go into oceans so i hugged coasts for 20 turns, now im branching out. im starting with liberty then into commerce, maybe honor after left side of commerce.

Turn 92. Polynesia is a cool civ. Never tried them before actually.

I have no luck with Moais. I understand how they work, but cannot find any suitable place for a group of them.

The early scouting rox with this civ. Close to OP :)

On top of Deer ;). 4 food, 2 culture.

should have finished the austria deity map, but this one was too tempting.

t112, after being DoF and trade partners since we've met AND a research agreement 1 turn ago, temujin declared war on me. he's coming over with a bunch of crap tech units, i think my pikemen will hold. not too sure of his navy though, he's eaten 3 or 4 city-states already. my next target will be singapore (13 pop or mercantile ally forever? yay!).

basically i played a tradition 4 city setup, don't see any value in liberty here. i will definitly settle another city next to my 4th (on the smaller island SW). 2 maritime allies and 1 mercantile/cultural made it very easy to grow my capital to decent size despite the lack of "real" food tiles. i was heading for a peaceful science victory but temujin's aggression might call for change of plans.

everyone has denounced him, people go to war with him for 115g and open borders and he still DoWs me :dunno:

and yeah, i still confuse salts for marbles on screen shots. the fact that a marble was just off screen 1 tile made me laugh.

what pantheons did people take? im torn on mine. i found a 30 faith ruin and have the pick of the litter right now. im leaning towards Stone Circles but i want a lot of others too.

This sounds a lot like my current game! Only one missing is Attila – and I'm playing Napoleon. :D This game sounds like a lot of fun! I love Polynesia.

I am at turn 104, took a screen just as my second prophet spawned.

I build two scouts and a quick trireme to make as good use of their ability to cruise the oceans from the start. It allowed me to claim a lot of ruins and get a bit extra gold from meeting cs's.

I got my National College at about turn ~69

Genghis took Singapore very quickly and soon after Dow'd me. I have been a bit aggressive about claiming and blocking the nearest city spots, especially on my own island and getting some ships in the waters to help keep anything too dangerous away.

Rome declared war on me soon after Genghis so right now I am building up my force of Galleasses and having them gain some xp from the streams of units coming in from both fronts.
I think my plan is to take Rome down, first, when I feel I can.. he have the colossus which I would like but he also have the great wall..

I am at t136 (second attempt). A RA with Genghis and a free scientist from Liberty finisher gave me navigation this turn. So I bought some iron from cathy and will upgrade my gallelas. Two of them have range already. My fleet was surrounding Rome, defense 40, but had to withdraw for repairs. The Frigates should blast it down in no time.

T103 -

Opened Liberty since I felt like the early Settler went well with Poly's ability to scout out the best city spots early. Built double Scout into monument, then a Trireme after sailing finished finished for more exploration. Bough a settler, built one, and took one from Liberty all around the same era. Same thing with workers, also stole one from Ragusa which Augustus didn't seem to mind very much. Plopped a city next to Tyre because I was having happiness issues, don't think it's too good of a location but I guess we'll see.

No aggression whatsoever in my game, so I scaled back my military in favor of culture buildings. Once I saw Mt. Sinai, I decided to play a religious game. Built Shrine/Temples in all my cities and took +2 happy from each shrine. +4 faith from Natural Wonders pantheon gave me the second religion and first enhanced religion. Pagodas were taken so I went with Religious Community for the production. Used a GE from Liberty finisher to rush a Grand Temple. Islam should be spreading like a plague :)

Friends with Russia, Greece, and Mongolia. Trading with everyone on the map besides England, who denounced me immediately after I scouted her. She's too far away to be an issue right now but really not looking forward to fighting her. NC was a little late at turn 80 since I didn't have the gold for a Library in my 4th city.

Building up an army of Triremes and Galleasses to attack Rome since his cities are getting a little too close for comfort. Infrastructure is doing great and I'm only about two techs behind Alex who I'm pretty sure is leading in tech.

If this war goes well, I'll probably go for Dom or Science since I'm so close to Alex.
