Democracy Game: Searching for dedicated, active induviduals to join!!!

It's a game of Civ 2 in which all the decisions are made democratically. The President actually plays all of the turns but his cabinet post polls and relevant screenshots in the various threads so that the people can decide what to build in cities, which technologies to research next, how to deal with other civs, and so forth. Elections are held in the first week of every month and players must be nominated for each position, after which votes are cast to decide the cabinet. It is a mixture of Civ and role-playing, and is a lot of fun, with debates raging as how best to proceed and political parties being formed to further certain policies. It is not necessary for a member of the democracy to make posts with regard to issues, but if you are not prepared to vote in the polls then it would be a waste of everyone's time. It is good fun, and if you feel you can contribute to our empire then send Cornmaster a PM and ask to be included. :goodjob:

Yeah :) Don't vote for Pellaken :D

J/k actually pel, i think you would make a great leader. I will definately consider voting for you. I'm running for science minister against the immortal sixchan. Even though I beat him out last time before losing to Juize after this term, i think people really want 6 back. I never got a chance!!!

You cannot really count your victory against Sixchan as a true victory because he had already been/ or was being voted to be the next president. Sadly he then had to resign because of technical problems...

It sounds interesting. I tried the link, but found error not found 404.

I just noticed it when I was reading another thread.

Is it still open? How do I find more information?

Kring, the game is still open, and there's an MP democracy opening in another site. Try my link. You'll have to PM AoA (Alcibiaties of Athenae) if you want to be able to post in the forum.
Duck's link is broken. You might want to take a look at it Duck.

The Demo Game forum is now moved to the Civilization II category. :)

I will move it to the Civ3 category after the current Civ2 game is over so you can start a Civ3 Demo game. This arrangement should give the Demo game forum more exposure.

Another thing.... Do you think the Demo game can continue w/o the special access permissions? It's very inconvenient to add posters to the group often. Maybe eliminating this special permission thing would result in more activities in the Demo game forum...

I'm for that, move it to games, and make it an open forum.

I definitely think it should remain closed. Those that want to become part of it can just PM you, and those that don't want to become part of it won't be able to skew the results of polls. I think you are right that eliminating the special permission thing would increase activity, however much of that activity would be from people who are not informed on the situation and the goals of the game, and some may just purposefully vote for options they think are bad as a prank. This opens up the possibility that somebody may decide that ruining the game will be their little joke, and they will create multiple logins to vote for poor options, or maybe even some of the less mature players at Apolyton's forum may decide to get together and try to run our game into the ground.

I think that to have the privilege of participating in the Democracy Game and voting on the polls people should be forced to show their commitment to it by going through the PM process. This way only those who know what they are voting for will be able to vote.

I don't see any real problems with allowing everyone access but we may get another Toecutter that decides to mess up the democracy game. Btw we have already have one person attempt this by creating a DL.

That is why you have a moderator. :)

However a moderator may not spot a DL until its too late...Btw is the democracy game still a members only forum or can anyone post in it now?
