[Development Thread] BtS Unofficial Expansion: World of Legends

^no, not confirmed. i'll be thinking about that. perhaps two more civs, if the poll results prove... diasasterous. :)

EDIT: Australia confirmed. we just need to decide the leader.

Blimey guys. This is gonna be huge!

Hope it all goes well.

And yes, Australia deserves a place. More than Vietnam OR Poland! :p

^We're adding the throne room too. So you can bask in the glory of your Empire! Oh, and your welcome for the Avatar :D.

random thought: d'you know De Gaulle has a resemblance to Inspector Glouseau? at least in Civ4?
 It's Cheif Inspector Jacques Cluso! And HE was modeled to look like De Gaulle. Have no idea why, I kinda have that sort of umm...nose...:nuke:
Well, in ancient roman society (they were psychos) having a large nose was a sign of leadership. Mine really isn't that big, just curved like Cluso and De Gaulle. :mischief:

This looks wonderful!
The unique heroes look awesome;
Joan of Arc of France..Leif Erikson of Scandinavia (yibbee :D!)..and Lech Walesa must be the Polish national hero :D
Talking about those... have you got the lists full? Is there any way to see the heroes for all the civs? And the Unique National Wonders?
I just hope you won't add "Little Mermaid" as the Scandinavian UNW. Sagas (+50% GP points, +2 happiness)? Temple of Uppsala (-33% unhappiness-from-whipping time for all cities on continent)? Althing (No maintenance in city built, enables Representation)?
Or are you going to have the Unique Heroes connected directly to the Unique National Wonders?
I really, really hope it works out.

One question:

(Quite stupid, but hey :))

I guess this'll run as a mod, yeah?

So if I get bored (HIGHLY unlikely) I can always run BtS again?

Oh, and whats the planned release date?

the heroes in question are still in "planning" mode, and are thus unable to be released to the general public. :p don't worry, i'll try and see if i can post it sooner or later.
"Little Mermaid" for the Scandinavains? you joking, right? :) actually, im' having a hard time finding a Scandinavian national wonder. right now the one "planned" is the Althing, which was some big meeting hall in someplace i have no idea.

well, obviuosly this will run as a mod. none of us have enough knowledge to make it run like an expansion. :) and thers really no point, anyways. so you can run BtS again.

the planned release date... unknown. the planned release date for the "First Phase" (i.e., just civs and leaders) part is hopefully sometime in late September or early October.

Ok, thanks ;)

It was (and is) actually in Iceland :)
I had actually edited my post and suggested Althing as a national wonder. It was the first parliamentary institution in the world. It had 39 politicians ("goðar") who came from 39 districts ("goðorð") and they took care of the Legislative part and other important stuff. and there was 1 prime minister ("lögsögumaður") who took care of the Executive part.
The High Court ("Lögrétta") was also situated there. The 39 "goðar" voted for 48 judges ("dómarar") who took care of the Judicial part.
And it all happened 930 :D

Temple of Uppsala, Sagas or Leif Erikson's Voyage would all work for me ;)

I really don't know. When the mod "goes gold" I guess. :D

It'll be released when (read cybrxkhan's post on "progress") we finish:
1. Planning and other crap, speculating, etc.-COMPLETE
2. Civs and Leaders-ALMOST COMPLETE
3. Everything-WE STILL NEED TO WORK ON THIS!
Sums up our status right now.

^Sounds like a fair estimate, with all of us (meaning me and cybrxkhan) except Ball Lightning (crazy Australian schools) and TheLastOne36 in school, but we'll still be able to work (not at the same rate though). We have a lot of stuff to do, Throne room, Interface, advanced SDK crap. But we WILL eventually finish it, and bring a whole new game.

Margaret for Vikings!! Looks great, guys :D

Question... will you be able to turn off the heroes? When you say heroes, I somehow think Robin Hood

EDIT: I read about the heroes, and I think they sound like having some kind of synergy with GP. Sounds cool!

Glad your excited. :D Now picture your huge scandanvian throne room with excelent Interface and Longboats...

Heroes are super-powerful military units.

Some are actual "folk heroes", like Robin Hood; others are semi or fully mythological-historical people, like Hercules; some are politicians and writers, like Thomas Jefferson; most are powerful rulers, generals or national heroes like Joan d' Arc, Rommel, Itzcoatl, and so forth.

^true. sending Joan d' Arc to rampage on enemy knights may save your empire's lifeline... or screw it, depending on whose side she's on. :) Thats the thing about heroes that makes them amazing.. or dangerous.
