DG02 - A Fascist Variant Game

I wouldn't count on getting a town from Cyurs. Maybe i am just unlucky, but i have never managed to get a town from an AI.

save

Pre-Turn
we will raze Susa and sue for peace, communism and state property will do us mighty good I am sure
mil count 121 units: -> 30 cities
we have 27 cities, that's fine

1. 1732AD
suicide a cannon and raze town
make peace for 1gpt, this must be a big joke, really

pillage the land where Susa used to be for more income

2. 1734AD
another upgrading round

3. 1736AD
we get communism and revolt to state property

4. 1738AD
we can now run at 60% science and -23gpt, not too impressive
rush MT Rushmore, so that we can declare next turn

5. 1740AD
sanity check and that's what we see at Memphis, I don't think we should attack Egypt so soon
Romans also have pretty impressive stacks

dg021740.jpg

decide to get some cash and sell Hatshepsut assembly line for astro + 2850gold
increase science to 80% for biology which will boost our growth a lot

and decide to go after Monte and a razing spree in the south for more money

6. 1742AD
declare on Monte, defeat a rifle cav 2 HA's, but lose an infantry

7. 1744AD
defeat 2 rifles in Texcoco but lose an infantry

8. 1746AD
suicide 2 cannons and defeat 7 units in Texcoco and take city

IT Monte counters with some cats and rifles, we lose a Cav and he loses 4 units

9. 1748AD/B]
raze Teotihuacan in the middle of Monte's land, defeat a Cav in the open
defeat Monte's navy which consists of a caravel and galley

10. 1750AD
we have a big stack in Texcoco and face some Cav's from Monte

before making peace, we should surely take out Pi-Rameses

I honestly do not know how to take on Hatty, maybe later with tanks and artillery, we have no units to match their arty yet. Maybe we need to take on Rome first
Next turn we get bio and should then head for artillery

A pity you 2 guys need to carry this on alone. If it wasn't that late in the game, I would have loved to join you :-(

Great variant!

Got it. I might get cocky and declare on Hati, if i see a chance to take out her stack. Not that i see one now, i just feel uncomfortable beating around the bush.

Thanks for your interest, Pvblivs! Maybe we'll see each otherin DG03? ;)

I suggest if you take on Egypt that you have a nice stack in their hinterland so that we can sneak attack the weaker towns.
If we manage to raze and pillage their land while holding on to our cities, we should be fine. Be aware that those artillery stacks Hatty has will cause incredible collaterals. Thus, we need strong and many defenders in Calcutta and Byblos.

Inherited Turn:
139 units are good for 32 cities. Plenty room left to expand.
No tech deals are possible and no resource deal lucrative enough.

*enter*

1:
We lose a cannon and defeat two or three cavs in an Aztec counterattack.
Civ almost crashes my whole computer, as i switch between notepad and the game.
Our cannons get some easy exp, while taking out the remains of the Aztec counterattack stack.
Our foreign relations are horrible. We can't even trade world maps with most!

2:
I managed to get a worker killed. D'oh!
I'm losing an Infantry aganst a cavalry, without doing any damage.

4:
Battle for Tlatelolco:
We lose two cannons, but take the city. Monti crazily suicided most of his defenders onto our stack.
All we got is 199 gold, though. Monti seems to be low on cash. I raze the city, as there is no way to defend it.
Burning Pi Whusname gives us 89 gold.

8:
We learn Physics and preceed to investigate Artillery.

9:
Battle for Technotitlan:

One suicide cannon survives!
Another one dies.
Inf vs. Rifle 6:0
Only one defender left:
Cav vs. Rifle 1:2
He took out two high exp cavs before he died.
Now what to do with the city? It is a borderline case. No direct cultural pressure and still reachable from our core.
I venture and raze it, nevertheless. In the upcomming war with Hati, we need to focus our forces.
Monti is not dead yet, he must have a city on the new continent.

During my turns, i have scouted out the defenders in Egyptian cities and the western ones are not too heavily defended. I wouldn't adivse atacking there, though, since it would split our forces in half.
Hati has an awful lot of units and i think the best way to deal with them is to let her attack us at Calcutta or Byblos. Infantry with city defender upgrade make tough defender and i produced a lot of infantry during my turn.
She has her cities defended by Infantry too, so i don't think it is feasable to attack her until we have artillery.

I am not sure how the next step should look like. Maybe it is wise to keep Julius alive and use the open borders agreement to drop units into hati hinterland for sabotage.
The units from the Aztec expedition need to heal before any new adventures. Monti is probably ready for peace and it is probably a good idea to take it for WW's sake.

I don't know why Dimy chose this type of map when we can't even build a single city.
Are we going for domination and hope the home continent will be sufficient? In any other case we even need to conquer the other continent, ridiculous.

Anyway, back on topic. We will have to declare on Hatty and hope that we survive all the intial attacks. I think we should fight defensively in the beginning letting Hatty take the brunt of WW. Once we have artillery, we might think of attacking as well.
Doing some pillaging would help as well

Will play this weekend

Personally, i wouldn't mind if we called it a win, after we conquered our continent. Cleaning up all the offshore islands and the other continent sounds very tendius to me.

Completly agree and the battle plan against Hati. That was my reasoning as well.

played 7 turns so far, will finish tomorrow since my computer shut down again with this game.
didn't dare to attack Egypt, her stacks are scary, went for Rome, war is ok, but we face some atricious RnG, I got so fed up that I need a break....

Yes, I kept both towns as they don't seem to be under too muich culture pressure. I would keep 2 more and raze one that is very close to Egypt.

I really chickened out to attack Egypt, I leave that to you and hope that our artillery could make them bleed. It will be a tough fight for sure.

save

Pre-Turn
looking at the Egyptian units they have I don't dare to attack. rather take on Rome
make peace with Monte
checking Cumae, I think Rome should be beatable

1. 1772AD
moving units north to Rome

2. 1774AD
moving

3. 1776AD
preparing for attacvk next turn

4. 1778AD
declare on Caesar, move in from the north
capture Ravenna with merely Cavalry, move towards Cumae

IT lose an infantry

5. 1780AD
move next to Cumae

IT lose another infantry

6. 1782AD
attack Cumae and take it
attack some stray infantry and lose every single time with 75% odds, stupid

IT we finally get artillery

7. 1784AD
with 211gold per upgrade I say thanks and rather suicide our cannons while building up massive artillery
I am getting convinced here that 75% means actually 0.1%, I am absolutely fed up
well, maybe change it to 90% as the next infantry to attack stray units gets owned with 90% odds
the other infantry went donw to 15/20hp, don't make me laugh

8. 1786AD
move towards Antium, there are only 3 infantry inside

9. 1788AD
still marching, infantry and cannons aren;t really fast

10. 1790AD
finally reach Antium, there are 5 infantry inside which surely some will attack
we do have a transport on the way to later ship some units into Egypt hinterland
we are slowly building artillery
Byblos has a huge stack of units.

Once we are done with Rome, we should dare to declare on Egypt no matter what the outcome will be

dg021790.jpg

 70-80% is a dangerous area, i have lost my fair share of units in those waters as well. I'll take a look at the save tonight, but will play tomorrow.

Edit: So she has a railroad network up and running. Looks like we have to expect her to throw everything she's got at us in the first round.

Inherited Turn:
Everything is peachy.

*enter*

1:
Antium:
Suicide two cannons.
We kill 4 Infs and lose 1.
The city is ours.

5:
Troup shuffling. Caesar stil has plenty of troops holed up in Rome. Our supply lines are cut by persian border expansion. I fortified our border town against the upcomming Egyptain strike.

8:
We learn electricity. Caesar suicides about a dozen units on our attacking stack. We suffer no casulties, but are very injured. Our machine gun is at 0.4 strength.
I sacrifice 4 cannons and take the city without further losses. Our army is in need of serious healing now.

9:
We lose Cumae to a culture flip.

10:
I leave all units untouched, as i think the time to declare on Hati has come.
The Roman theatre is as good as over and taking the last city after the declaration has the advantage, that hati probably doesn't expect an attack from that direction
So we can take and raze the roman city and push right ahead into the (hopefully) poorly defended Egyptain hinterland. My gut tells me, that hati will attack at our southern bordertown and i think it is ready for her stacks.

I didn't want to declare on my last turn, however, so i'll leave the decision to you.

ok, this time I bite the bullet no matter what happens...high noon time

save

Pre-Turn
shift some units towards Rome's last city on our continent, it will take 3 turn for them to arrive and be able to attack

and then go for Egypt

1. 1812AD
moving on to Neapolis

2. 1814AD
Antium comes online and goes into a Roman revolt immediately, so much about no flips
take out a Roman infantry in the field
units next to Neapolis, next turn can attack and go after Egypt

3. 1816AD
take out 3 infantry in Neapolis for the loss of an artillery and raze the town
it's time to bite the bullet, make peace with Rome
they actually give me a city on the other continent and the WM

the moment of truth has come, declare on Hatty
take out a transport with 3 inf + settler in the south :)

IT a nailbiting turn, as Egypt attacks relentlessly, final tally 33:16 and around 10+ retreats on her side
the main attack happened at Byblos, where quite a few infantry are taken out
however, a small artillery/inf stack was taken out at former Neapolis

4. 1818AD
I do hope this initial attack mainly with Cav's and artillery has softened Egypt a bit
the scary thing is that they do have tanks around as well which did not attack cities yet

now it's our turn to mop up some wounded units there
take out a wounded stack of 8 with a lot of arty
take another stack of 15 units all at Byblos, lose 3 arty and an inf in the process

take out 2 cav's at Calcutta

spot a convoy of 3 transports + 1 destroyer in the west
manage to take out the destroyer but not the transports

Persia quickly filled the void we created at Neapolis
move a small stack into Egypt but there are tanks around, at least it will divert Egypt
pillage a cottage for 70gold

move a small stack towards Abydos in the south

IT only light attacks at Antium and our small stack there but with tanks
we go 3:1, I hope that Egypt is hurt already, this we will fight out until the bitter end

5. 1820AD
take out 1/3 transports, but 2 will be able to land unit near Rome

move towards Abydos in the south, and our small stack next to Turfan
most likely will be taken out
some minor skirmishes

6.1822AD
Hatty was dumb enough not to drop her units
sink the 2 remaining transports for another 8 units gone

we get the first offensive success as Abydos is razed for no loss
put more units into that stack now moving towards Asyut

Turfan has 4 defenders inside, if we can raze that city, it will be a bigger hurt for Egypt
game crashes as usual at this stage
bomb defenses to 0 and attack, win 3 on bad odds and infantry razes the city
that will hurt them, screenshot got lost somewhere

decide to get a little bolder and move a stack out of Byblos towards Memphis

IT well, our little stack gets almost wiped out, the price for razing Turfan

7. 1824AD
Antium is finally online but starving, whip a theatre there
climb the hill near Memphis and spot 6 defenders inside
thus take another small stack from Calcutta to attack from the north of Memphis

8. 1826AD
Rome is online now as well
whip theatre there and library in Antium
move a stack next to Memphis, one stack is 1 turn away
move next to Asyut as well and newly founded Buto

IT as expected we get attacked at Memphis and go 2:2

9. 1828AD
take Asyut without losses and move stack towards core
suicide 3 artillery and defeat 3 units and raze Buto which was on a hill

bomb defenses of Memphis to 0%
game crashes again

IT Gandhi wants open borders, yes, why not

10. 1830AD
time to attack Memphis
lose 3 arty and 1inf
the moment of glory
dg21830a.jpg

city comes with a shrine for more income :)

lux is at 20% and tanks come in 6 turns, I guess that will be the turn of the tide
with tanks we will steamroll all of them hopefully
We do have a city overseas for a start, we can stage attacks from there

a telling story
dg21830b.jpg

by the way, we are by far #1 in military now, so we don't need to bother about that when attacking cities.
We do have quite a few units in Byblos and Calcutta, leave it to you to use them for offense

Hurray!
Egypt proved to be no match for the Spartan war machine.
Excellent work!
I'll probably get the game on Sunday.

With the new patch out, do we want to upgrade? From what i've read, it might goof up the timeline a bit, so i'd advise against.

I think we should finish this without upgrading, let the rest struggel with the new patch, we can finish this game in hopefully a few rounds (maybe not  )

By the way, since we have a foothold on the other continent, we might want to get for conquest after all, though we might exceed the domination limit once we have our continent all to ourselves.

I hope that tanks really can turn the tide, this and bombers should do
