Difficulty vs. Game speed

Uhm... then we not only need an autobuilding for every "+1% :gold: with Bonustype" building, but for all bonuses of given building. For example:

Jewelry: +1% :gold: with Pearls, Gold, Silver.... would require:

1: Autobuild, +1 :gold:, requires Jewelry and Pearls.
2: Autobuild, +1 :gold:, requires Jewelry and Gold.
3: Autobuild, +1 :gold:, requires Jewelry and Silver.

etc...

This could end up in a few hundert new needed buildings which is WAY too much and easily takes longer than a week to add. Not to mention the increasing game loading time and memory usage.

Why not just one for each bonus, and autobuild as many as are applicable (and I guess auto-unbuild them if they cease to apply...)?

If there's a hundred buildings like this, it's still maybe 500+ autobuildings to add, but not as many as if you needed a building for every combination.

You can't build a building more then once in a city. Or maybe I just don't understand what you propose :crazyeye:

When you said 'Jewelry' I thought you meant the bonus, but I can see now you meant the building, so I was saying the same as you.

I agree I'd love to have the tag. I agree that fixing all the buildings this other way may well take longer than creating the tag (but remember that there are XML changes and testing with the new tag as well). But there's more of us that can code XML than can implement new tags, so.....

Yeah, my mistake, sorry. I meant the building. So in general it would be "Requires Building + Resource 1" etc.

But adding more autobuild buildings would be a VERY ugly solution. I'm about to take a break from modding civ in a week anyways (after I finished the Breeder buildings), but I can't recommend doing it this way. Adding such a tag is less effort, really helps to reduce memory usage and load times (ask StrategyOnly what he would say if we add a few hundert more buildings :mischief:) and open up more ways in the future. It's not just that you'd need buildings for all existing "+1% :gold: with bonustype" buildings. With this tag you could also give a Police Station +1 :espionage: with dogs for example. Or Music Hut +1 :culture: with Instruments. And MUCH MUCH more. There are a lot buildings that could use a CommerceChange with a bonus but doing this with % it would just overkill the game.

Another alternative I thought of last night was if the current tag could take fractional values (I don't suppose it can currently...can it???). Then we could make 1% mean '1% of just this building' by putting it in as 0.01. Sounds extreme I guess, and it would make the bonus nonexistent or reduced in cities that were not fully up-and-running. Then again we can always tweak it if 0.01 is regarded as too low.

Ok, point made. I can see the value of the tag. I'm not sure when I can get to it but I'll get BonusCommerceChange setup as soon as I can.

Thank you! :goodjob:
But since Hydro is on semi-holyday and I'm on vacation in 4 days I don't think this tag would be added to buildings too soon.

I was starting to play at Noble...and now I keep getting whipped, I do not get it.

In the Continents game, one per team, as soon as I can see what's going on I give up. I'm fourth or fifth out of five. I'm not doing anything different than I was before, but this new version just cheats like crazy. It's impossible what the other civs are doing, supposedly at their Noble level. Getting almost every rarer bonus and Great Wonder, bagging all the religions so I can't get even one, twice the cities at half the cost, otherwise how can they afford an army five times the size of mine? Then they won't trade with you, or if they do they want three for one of theirs and they have gold in the tens of thousands, or over a hundred thousands, while I'm scraping by with loose change.

I love the mod, but I can no longer even come close to winning. The play was made harder for those at Deity level or something? I'd love to see the formula you are using, and how you can get the barbarians to leave you alone instead of picking on you and leaving the AI players alone. Yeah, I peaked to make sure.

Do you just not build anything and stockpile gold?
